SNOW CH85
Extra 4: Rabbit Transformation
Zhu Zhixi woke up and discovered he had turned into a rabbit.
It terrified him. He reached out, checking over and over. No matter how he looked, these were not human hands—fluffy, pure white… they were rabbit paws!
“If you really turned into a rabbit, you’d finally behave.” That was the last thing he’d said before falling asleep last night.
He was doomed.
The double bed was enormous now, and so was Fu Rangyi. After much effort, he managed to crawl before him, nudging and tugging, finally waking Fu Rangyi—who rolled over and nearly flattened him like a rabbit pancake. Fortunately, Zhu Zhixi was quick.
Life as a rabbit was too dangerous.
“…Hmm?” Fu Rangyi stretched out his arm, feeling for the space beside him. Finding it empty, he opened his eyes and squinted for a while.
Look at me! Zhu Zhixi tried to crawl out from under the covers and onto him, but just as he succeeded, Fu Rangyi sat up. He toppled back into the blanket, dizzy.
“Where…?” Fu Rangyi, still drowsy and not wearing his glasses, had blurry vision. Half-asleep, he grabbed blindly—found the pajama top, turned, and called toward the master bedroom door, “Baby?”
Your baby is here! Zhu Zhixi gathered his strength and tried to crawl onto him again.
But Fu Rangyi suddenly found the wedding ring that had fallen by the pillow. He instantly became alert, got up without a second thought, barely putting on his slippers, grabbed his phone off the bedside table, and headed to the living room to call Zhu Zhixi.
Thus, Rabbit-Zhixi’s climbing plan was foiled by the other’s panic yet again.
He jumped on the bed a few times, his rabbit ears—previously together—standing upright, making what he thought was a very loud (but actually quite soft) chittering sound.
This sound was easily covered by the vibration of the phone.
Following the sound, Fu Rangyi returned to the bedroom, frowning, phone in hand, muttering, “Didn’t bring his phone?” Mid-sentence, he froze, blinking slowly.
Am I dreaming? Or am I hallucinating before I’m fully awake? Why is there a rabbit on Zhu Zhixi’s phone?
He tilted his head. The little, snow-white dwarf rabbit also tilted its head, staring at him with big, round black eyes.
Could it be…
A bold thought flashed through his mind. Fu Rangyi shook his head, walked to the bedside, squatted down, reached out, and tried to touch the rabbit’s forehead. Yet, the soft and obedient-looking rabbit instantly opened its mouth and bit him.
Well. With such a temper, it really might be Zhu Zhixi.
How could my wife actually have turned into a rabbit?
“That’s right. I did it. Heard from Xiao En it’s your birthday.” Xiao Yu’s voice came through the speaker, “But I found out a little late, so it only took effect today.”
Fu Rangyi hugged the rabbit, muttering instinctively, “…at least not yesterday.”
The little rabbit bit him again. Fu Rangyi explained, “I mean, if you’d turned into a rabbit yesterday, how would I explain to your brother?”
Yeah, right. Zhu Zhixi’s ears, gathered together again, stood straight up.
“When will he change back?” Fu Rangyi asked.
Xiao Yu replied: “Soon, the transformation spell won’t last past 24 hours.”
“So short?” Fu Rangyi blurted out.
How long do you want it to last! Zhu Zhixi bit him again. Now Fu Rangyi’s hand had three sets of rabbit tooth prints.
“But I can’t understand what he’s saying. Is there a way to fix that?”
“Nope,” said Xiao Yu. “Look up rabbit language online. That’s all I can do. Happy Birthday.”
After the call, Zhu Zhixi slowly stood up in Fu Rangyi’s palm. His big round eyes darted, and his upright ears drooped diagonally toward his forehead.
On my birthday, could I ask Xiao Yu to turn Fu Rangyi into an animal too? What should he become—a white fox? A kitty? Or maybe a big border collie?
At the thought, his fluffy tail started wagging quickly.
“Rabbit ears leaning forward mean curiosity…” Fu Rangyi, one hand cupping the little rabbit, the other holding his phone, read aloud from a rabbit language page, “…Wagging the tail rapidly means excitement…”
Annoying. He can read minds. Noticing this, Zhu Zhixi sat down right away.
Fu Rangyi brought him even closer.
“How can you be so cute?” he murmured, all affection, “You’re the cutest and most beautiful little rabbit in the world.”
Rabbit Zhixi’s nose twitched rapidly, his eyes fixed motionless on Fu Rangyi’s face. From a rabbit’s perspective, that face was like a gigantic, overly handsome close-up on a billboard, every detail starkly clear.
So Fu Rangyi’s eyelashes were really this long. The pattern in his iris was beautiful. His nose bridge was high enough for a rabbit slide. And those lips, red, even with a wound…
The rabbit shakily stood, furry head lifted, little nose trying to nuzzle Fu Rangyi’s lips. But being so short, he stretched with all his might but only managed to brush him with his ears.
Fu Rangyi laughed softly. “Trying to kiss me, little rabbit?”
Yes. Is it illegal for a rabbit to kiss her husband? Zhu Zhixi’s ears drooped. The next second, Fu Rangyi kissed his ear tip, then the forehead, then the nose. His kisses were feather-light, careful not to hurt him.
Zhixi’s tail began wagging again. I like this. More. He nudged up, nuzzled with his nose, then licked Fu Rangyi’s lips with his soft little rabbit tongue.
For a few seconds, Fu Rangyi was stunned. Then he buried his face in the rabbit’s fur, breathed in deeply. And repeated.
Rabbits don’t have pheromones… Well, I don’t as a human either. Still, that deep inhalation put Zhixi in a good mood—especially when Fu Rangyi rubbed his nose on his back. It felt wonderful.
Only after several times did Fu Rangyi reluctantly let go, kissing Zhixi’s forehead.
“Let’s get you something to eat…”
Carrying him to the kitchen, Fu Rangyi placed Zhu Zhixi on the counter and opened the fridge. Zhixi hopped to the faucet, using the shiny metal as a mirror to check himself out.
Not bad. Pure white, big dark eyes, perky ears, decent size, and best of all—not fat at all, a proper rabbit, not a round dumpling. He twisted his round little body, forgetting the curved metal distorted his reflection—the real him was just a fluffball.
“How about this?” Fu Rangyi offered thin slices of fruit and carrot.
Zhu Zhixi twitched his nose. Maybe it was being a rabbit, but his tastes had changed—his usual favorite, carrot, now smelled tasteless. He backed away, not interested.
“Don’t want it? Should I get rabbit food? Or…hay?”
That didn’t sound appealing either. Zhu Zhixi didn’t like staying on the counter. He hopped over to Fu Rangyi, nudged his hand with his nose. Luckily, Fu Rangyi was clever, and he soon lowered his big palm, letting Zhixi climb up, circle, then perch like a little hen.
“Let’s go to the pet store instead.”
After changing clothes, Fu Rangyi left the house with Rabbit Zhixi. As they left, the rabbit jumped down, dove under the sofa. Fu Rangyi thought he didn’t want to go, but soon, Zhu Zhixi came out again, headbutting something.
Squinting, Fu Rangyi saw it was his missing glasses.
“Thank you, good baby.”
Rabbit Zhixi was so happy he jumped, forepaws and hind legs clapping, like a little flying spring.
In the car, he put Zhu Zhixi in his shirt pocket, but Zhixi climbed out and onto his shoulder. After last night’s rain, the morning breeze was cool. At a red light, Fu Rangyi turned to look and found Zhixi standing up, fur fluttering in the wind, clearly enjoying it, humming in contentment. Fu Rangyi’s heart melted. He picked up his phone and snapped a photo of the rabbit on his shoulder.
“Zhu Zhixi.”
When the car started, the little rabbit put his paws down and touched Fu Rangyi’s neck with his cool nose.
“You’re the cutest creature in the world,” Fu Rangyi said gently.
Zhixi spun around on his shoulder, tail wagging.
The pet store had just opened. Fu Rangyi brought Zhu Zhixi in his pocket. A male Omega employee greeted him warmly. “How can I help you?”
Polite but distant, Fu Rangyi nodded. “I need some rabbit food and timothy hay.” As soon as he finished speaking, little Zhixi poked his head out.
“Please wait a moment.” The staff smiled sweetly. “I didn’t expect an Alpha like you to raise a dwarf rabbit—that’s so cute!”
The rabbit’s black eyes stared right at the clerk’s face. Soon, one rabbit ear pointed straight up, the other slanted to the side.
What did that mean? Through a shop mirror, Fu Rangyi watched his wife in rabbit form, sensing he might be using his ears like a middle finger. Overwhelmed by cuteness, he couldn’t help but smile and tap the rabbit’s sensitive ear tip.
The clerk soon returned, suggesting Fu Rangyi put the rabbit on the table to try the food. He did, but the rabbit didn’t cooperate.
“He seems very attached to you—you must be really gentle with him.”
Before Fu Rangyi could reply, the rabbit suddenly stomped his feet on the table.
It reminded him of how Zhu Zhixi would stomp off when angry—which must be tough on the heels.
Even though the rabbit’s antics were noisy, everything he did was cute. The clerk smiled, looking up, “May I pet him?”
Most pet owners were generous, but not Fu Rangyi—not when this “pet” was his wife. He refused outright:
“No.”
The clerk’s hand paused awkwardly in the air, big eyes wide. “Oh…”
“He doesn’t like to be touched by strangers,” Fu Rangyi added flatly.
“All right.” The clerk smiled and offered the dwarf rabbit some hay to try.
The rabbit still didn’t cooperate, not even sniffing, until Fu Rangyi himself offered it—then he approached, sniffed, and reluctantly took a bite.
“Seems he really only trusts you,” the clerk laughed.
Fu Rangyi was so entranced by Zhu Zhixi’s cuteness he could hardly pay attention, muttering, “Of course, I’m his…”
He caught himself, forcibly swallowing the word “husband” and substituting “owner.”
I’m Zhu Zhixi’s owner. Such a strange feeling. The rabbit paused mid-chew at that word.
“He seems to really like this; we’ll take a big bag,” Fu Rangyi said.
“Of course.” The clerk saw him pick up the rabbit and get ready to leave and plucked up his courage: “Excuse me, we offer home delivery and boarding. If you’d like, you can add my WeChat for future contact.” He didn’t listen closely, but the “boarding” word stabbed a sensitive spot, reminding Fu Rangyi unhappily of certain memories.
“No need, thank you.” He pocketed Zhu Zhixi and left.
Back in the car, Fu Rangyi didn’t leave right away. He opened the timothy hay to feed Zhu Zhixi another bite.
But he wouldn’t eat—he rubbed his rabbit chin on Fu Rangyi’s knuckles, then sidled over to rub his shirt, climbed up to his shoulder, rubbed his shoulder, collarbone, neck, even stood up to nuzzle behind his ear.
The gland was tickled by the furry rabbit chin—so itchy, Fu Rangyi flinched. But the bossy rabbit wouldn’t stop, stretching for every little corner, until he overreached and fell into Fu Rangyi’s shirt collar.
“Eh?” Fu Rangyi laughed, pulled back his shirt to rescue him, but found him happily rubbing his chest instead.
It was too ticklish, so Fu Rangyi pulled him out and put him on his lap. Immediately, Zhu Zhixi started a new round of snuggling.
“What does this mean?” Fu Rangyi was curious. He searched his phone for ages before finding that rabbits, being territorial, have scent glands under their chins; chin-rubbing is marking and claiming.
As soon as he finished reading that out, Zhu Zhixi froze.
Fu Rangyi looked down—he’d turned away, seeming embarrassed.
He laughed, picked up the rabbit, kissed him, and said softly, “Baby, keep marking me. I like it.”
Rabbit Zhixi gave a whiny hum, then lifted his foot and nuzzled Fu Rangyi’s lips with his chin.
“Lick me,” Fu Rangyi said.
Halfway through rubbing, Zhu Zhixi twitched his ears but didn’t do it. Fu Rangyi was disappointed, searched how to get a rabbit to lick someone—results all said: make the rabbit comfortable.
Back home, Fu Rangyi began studying how to make a rabbit happy.
“May I pet you?”
Zhu Zhixi perched on the desk, watching him with big round eyes. Fu Rangyi tried stroking his forehead. Slowly, the little rabbit ducked his head, baring the nape of his neck.
“Now down…” Fu Rangyi followed a guide, fingers moving down the near-nonexistent rabbit neck, then the round, fluffy back.
He found that, under his touch, upright Zhu Zhixi-the-rabbit slumped into a soft rabbit pancake, letting him knead his back and butt, the little tail swaying, even starting to “grind teeth” with contentment.
“Does it feel that good?” Fu Rangyi coaxed, “Then… won’t you lick me?”
This time, he succeeded. The little rabbit opened his mouth, stuck out his pink tongue, and lazily licked Fu Rangyi’s palm.
Rabbits’ tongues, unlike cats or dogs, are smooth and soft, not rough, a wonderfully unique feeling.
Fu Rangyi wanted badly to pinch his tongue, but worried about making him mad, so he didn’t.
“Good baby.” He continued stroking his back, coaxing softly. “Xixi, you’re so cute.”
Before long, the rabbit pancake became sleepy, yawned, showing off tiny rabbit teeth—exactly how Zhu Zhixi always looked when yawning.
How could there be something so cute?
Watching the little rabbit doze off on the desk, Fu Rangyi couldn’t bear to look away. He quietly took many photos and videos, choosing the shot with the rabbit napping on his shoulder as his new profile pic.
Phone off, chin propped on the desk, Fu Rangyi quietly watched his sleeping wife. He had never been a fan of small animals; the cuteness was not the rabbit itself, but Zhu Zhixi.
Whatever little animal Zhu Zhixi turned into, he’d be adorable. Fu Rangyi even thought, even if one day Zhu Zhixi awoke as a caterpillar, he could find something cute about it, raise him into a butterfly. A phone call broke his caterpillar fantasy, and he sighed, back to work mode.
[Zhang Xiaoqi: Professor, can I call you? I’m afraid I can’t explain properly in a message.]
Fu Rangyi glanced at sleeping Zhu Zhixi beside him, put on headphones.
[Prof: Send a voice message, I’ll reply by text.]
Grading student theses took the whole afternoon. Occasionally, he glanced at Zhu Zhixi, who woke after two hours, dazed, ears messy. He sat for a minute, then lifted a paw to rub his eyes, diligently washing his face.
Another student came by. Fu Rangyi had to stop watching rabbit-bath time.
The student sent a zip file of images. Fu Rangyi reached for the mouse—but grabbed a soft, fluffy rabbit paw.
“Hmm?” He looked down; Zhu Zhixi had flopped by the mouse.
“Sorry, wrong one.” He let go and used the mouse.
He opened the images, checking the student’s diagrams, quickly spotting a problem. He reached for the mouse again—once more, ended up with a furry rabbit paw.
What was this? This time it definitely wasn’t his fault; the mouse really had moved—nudged over.
“Are you occupying the mouse’s nest, rabbit?” Fu Rangyi laughed, booped the twitchy rabbit nose.
Finally noticed! Zhu Zhixi bit his finger—neglecting him for work this long was rabbit abuse. “Biting again? Unhappy?” Fu Rangyi moved him to his left, petting him while working. “Good, just a minute more. Almost done.”
Fu Rangyi, in work mode, petted bunnies a bit too roughly, never pausing, just petting absentmindedly while watching the screen.
At first it felt great; Zhu Zhixi purred and ground his teeth. But eventually, Fu Rangyi got carried away, patting his rear and rubbing the tail base. Too stimulating—Zhu Zhixi felt like he might float away.
He lay on the desk, whimpering, wiggled his butt in the air.
Just then, the petting stopped. The flying rabbit fell from the clouds. He looked up; Fu Rangyi was lost in a thesis, frowning.
Keep petting me.
Out of options, Zhu Zhixi licked his finger as a reminder.
“Still want more?” Fu Rangyi glanced at him and resumed.
Once again, Zhu Zhixi melted into a pancake, flattened out under his husband’s hand.
So comfy. Zhu Zhixi closed his eyes. But a second later, a finger suddenly brushed his tail. Not there! He tried to squirm away, but couldn’t escape the human grip. Fu Rangyi even started spanking him, patting his tail base.
“Does this feel good?” Fu Rangyi seemed done with work, leaning back, patting and studying him. “I read this is supposed to feel really nice.”
Not at all! Who said that… Zhu Zhixi clenched his rabbit teeth, his whole body tingling and electric, even a bit dizzy, his belly swelling. For some reason, he suddenly remembered Fu Rangyi during his first susceptibility period, dim-wittedly saying, “Let’s have a baby.”
“Rabbits… are super fertile.”
Now, Zhu Zhixi actually was a rabbit.
His tail trembled under the pats. Drowsy, he imagined himself curled in a nest ringed with fluffy little rabbit babies.
Seeing his rabbit so blissed out he seemed to be about to pass out, Fu Rangyi went to get water, and fetched a carrot he hadn’t eaten that morning, trimming it for Zhixi to try.
When he came back, he was startled. In just that short time, Zhu Zhixi had made himself a little nest out of timothy hay. He was lying inside, big eyes staring up.
“Nesting?” Fu Rangyi was surprised. That was usually his department.
Betas build nests too? Shouldn’t it be with my clothes? What are you using hay for?
He picked some up and sniffed—no scent of his own pheromones.
“Rabbit… nesting…” muttered Fu Rangyi, looking it up, only to be shocked.
“False pregnancy?”
Rabbits can get false pregnancies from too much petting?
His brain short-circuited. His infertile Beta partner had turned into a rabbit—and was now experiencing a false pregnancy.
How peculiar.
Carefully, he tried to lift Zhu Zhixi from the nest, but failed—earning a near bite for the attempt. No matter what, Zhu Zhixi wouldn’t leave his “burrow.” Not even by nightfall.
Fu Rangyi had no choice but to carry rabbit and nest together into bed. He lay down, settled the rabbit in his chest.
“False-pregnant bunnies need comfort…” He did his duty, gently and thoroughly petting from head to toe, stroking face, ears, back—all over. The rabbit got so happy, out came the little tongue, licking his pajamas until they were wet.
Deliberately, Fu Rangyi stopped, pulling his hand back a bit. The little rabbit opened sleepy eyes in confusion, stretched to follow. Fu Rangyi, seeing he had succeeded, lured him out step by step until he was under his chin.
“Lick me,” he whispered, “or I won’t pet you anymore.”
Zhu Zhixi, completely entranced, absently licked his chin, waiting to be soothed.
“Good boy. You’re the best rabbit.” Fu Rangyi grinned. The little rabbit rubbed his chin, planted his paws on him, and obediently licked his lips.
But then—the rabbit froze, tongue still extended, eyes suddenly wide.
Before Fu Rangyi could react—pop—a heaviness fell over him as the fluffy white rabbit abruptly turned back into human form.
“…Mmm.” Zhu Zhixi flopped on top of him, lips still pressed to his lower lip, disoriented by his “heavy, gigantic” human body.
Suddenly, he realized something very important.
“I’m not wearing anything!” he shrieked, lunging for the covers and burrowing under, not even poking out his head, scattering nesting hay everywhere.
Fu Rangyi laughed, climbing under the blanket with him.
The covers shifted with their movement.
“Ah, Fu Rangyi, don’t touch everywhere…”
“I’m not touching. You asked for all this earlier.”
“That was rabbit-me, not me!”
“Mhm, but you’re so much smoother now.”
“Hey, don’t—don’t touch my belly, it feels weird…”
“What kind of weird? Pregnant weird?”
“No way—shut up! You’re so annoying…”
“All right, all right. Baby, come closer, you’re about to fall off.”
Pretending to be reluctant, Zhu Zhixi still moved back into Fu Rangyi’s arms. He sniffled, then suddenly lifted his chin, instinctively rubbing it on Fu Rangyi’s neck, and froze in realization.
I’m human. Not a rabbit, not a rabbit.
Sure enough, Fu Rangyi chuckled.
“Don’t laugh.”
He obediently stopped, gently patting Zhu Zhixi’s back. Slowly, Zhu Zhixi relaxed, the belly-swelling sensation faded, and that broad palm moved down from patting to stroking along his spine.
At last, the warm fingertips pressed on his tailbone.
“No more tail.”
That touch made Zhu Zhixi shiver, instantly wakeful. He tried to retort, “Humans don’t have tails…mm…” but the rest was swallowed up in Fu Rangyi’s deep kiss.
When they parted, he was a little dazed, still not used to it, his lips searching, rubbing noses, wanting more.
“There was one last night,” Fu Rangyi said mildly, fingers trailing lower. “Baby, you still want to see the tail wag.”
The broken rabbit-girl outfit wasn’t fixed, but the almost-broken Zhu Zhixi once again grew a fluffy tail—in human form.
Not only that, deep in the night, dazzled by drowsiness, he had another “false pregnancy” episode—still in human form.
