SBWAN CH128
After finally calming Chi Yao down, Jing Xi was exhausted to the point of collapse.
He hadn’t expected the direct impact of an alpha’s pheromones to be so painful.
“Xi Xi, does it hurt a lot?” Chi Yao gently touched the bloody mark on his gland.
The wound had already healed, leaving only a ring of bite marks and bloodstains, but it looked painful.
Afraid Chi Yao would lose control again due to the scent of blood, Jing Xi casually grabbed an alcohol swab and wiped it off.
“Does it hurt your heart to see me like this?”
Chi Yao nodded.
Jing Xi: “Then let me bite you back?”
Chi Yao: “…Have you been coveting my gland for a long time?”
Jing Xi chuckled lightly. “After all, I am an alpha too.”
Chi Yao: “…”
Chi Yao’s clothes had been torn into strips by himself; fortunately, his pants were still wearable.
Jing Xi draped his military jacket over him. “Wait here, I’ll find you some clothes.”
Seeing Chi Yao nod, Jing Xi walked towards the door.
But before he could open it, he was hugged from behind.
Chi Yao clung to him, nuzzling his face against his, and said matter-of-factly, “I regret it.”
Jing Xi: “…”
There was less than an hour left.
The bodies in the conference hall and outside had to be dealt with, and Wushen’s lockdown needed to be lifted.
A moment later, Jing Xi led Chi Yao out by the hand.
“Xi Xi, I can’t see anything.”
Chi Yao wore a mask over his eyes, and his mouth and nose were covered by a purification mask. His entire face was wrapped up tight.
“Don’t pull it off. Just follow me.”
Jing Xi found a relatively clean path to lead him out.
In the office, Pei Zhenyue was anxious.
He knew the whole situation felt wrong, but he had no choice but to wait.
Footsteps approached. The adjutant immediately went on alert, shielding him and aiming his gun at the door.
A moment later, a soaking wet Jing Xi entered, leading a masked alpha by the hand.
The alpha wore only a military jacket on his upper body. The open front revealed his firm, beautiful abdominal muscles.
Just as the adjutant was sizing him up, the other party yanked the mask off his face.
His cold, stern face, framed by wet hair, exuded an even stronger aura.
Just meeting his gaze made the adjutant’s scalp tingle.
This guy has such a heavy killing aura.
Heavier than a soldier fresh from the battlefield!
Jing Xi noticed his gaze and silently turned around to pull the military jacket closer together.
“Wear it properly.”
Chi Yao: “…”
Isn’t it because the buttons won’t button?
Pei Zhenyue: “Are you okay?”
Chi Yao pulled out a chair and sat down, resting his chin in his hand, expressionless. “I don’t want to talk to you.”
Pei Zhenyue: “…”
Jing Xi: “…”
Pei Zhenyue looked at Jing Xi, his eyes clearly asking, “Is this kid brain-damaged?”
Jing Xi didn’t want to elaborate on Chi Yao’s situation. He tapped lightly on his terminal, and a virtual screen popped up in mid-air.
“How is it going?”
The virtual screen displayed Xiao Hong’s control panel.
[Xiao Hong: 80% complete——82%——]
Almost there.
Jing Xi looked at Pei Zhenyue. “The defense mode will be lifted soon. You leave first; I’ll handle things here.”
Pei Zhenyue looked at the constantly popping virtual windows, secretly surprised.
“You can repair Wushen?”
Jing Xi: “It’s not repairing, just restarting the permissions that were forcibly closed.”
Staring at Chi Yao’s chilling gaze, the adjutant silently retreated behind Pei Zhenyue.
Pei Zhenyue: “Shouldn’t we wait until the mess is cleaned up and leave together?”
Jing Xi shook his head. “When I came, General Zhao had already brought people to wait at the entrance. If you don’t go out immediately, they might break in.”
Pei Zhenyue pondered for a moment, then nodded.
“Alright, I’ll find a way to send people in to help. Thank you for your hard work.”
Jing Xi looked at Chi Yao, who hadn’t said a word.
“Luckily, he was here.”
This incident gave Pei Zhenyue a new understanding of Chi Yao’s strength.
With skills like that, no wonder it was useless no matter who was sent to catch him before.
“I will compensate him.” Pei Zhenyue looked at Chi Yao. “Do you want money or armaments? As long as they are used for legitimate purposes, I can provide them.”
Chi Yao silently looked at Jing Xi, refusing to speak.
Jing Xi, who instantly understood his meaning: “…”
Pei Zhenyue, who seemed to understand: “…”
Outside Building 8, Zhao Hongyi contacted the main control console, but the message he received was always that repairs were still underway.
“Sir, guests are coming over there,” the adjutant whispered in his ear.
Zhao Hongyi looked over and saw some suppliers of military equipment parts.
Walking in front was a middle-aged alpha with a slender figure and a refined appearance.
His name was Zhang Sheng. Zhao Hongyi only remembered that he was the CEO of some manufacturer that produced scopes.
“General Zhao.”
Zhang Sheng approached and extended his hand. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
Zhao Hongyi shook hands with him. “Hello.”
After a few words of small talk, Zhang Sheng looked at the main gate of Building 8.
“Is the Commander not here? I was thinking of coming over early to say hello.”
Zhao Hongyi smiled. “He’s the star of the show today, a busy man. Why don’t you go to my place and sit for a while first?”
Seeing him say this, the group assumed he was standing here to help Pei Zhenyue welcome guests, so they agreed readily.
As soon as this group passed, Bai Yi arrived with his people.
“Old Zhao? You’re here too.”
Bai Yi hurried over, looked up at Building 8, his expression not very good.
“The system hasn’t been repaired yet?” he asked in a low voice.
Zhao Hongyi’s gaze lingered on his face for a second before shifting away indifferently. “Just asked, not yet.”
Bai Yi frowned tightly. “Wushen rarely malfunctions, let alone such a big problem.”
“After all, it’s centuries-old stuff; it can’t be error-free forever.” Zhao Hongyi looked at the people he brought. “Why did you bring so many people?”
“Aren’t I afraid something might happen?” Bai Yi glanced at the guards stationed nearby. “You brought quite a few yourself.”
Zhao Hongyi huffed. “On an occasion like today, if something goes wrong, the entire military will be a laughingstock. I don’t want to be implicated.”
“Don’t put it that way.” Bai Yi sighed. “No matter what, with the Commander here, the pressure on our shoulders will be lighter in the future. It’s a good thing.”
With all the power consolidated, wouldn’t it be easier?
Reminded by him, Zhao Hongyi got angry for no reason, and felt that it would be good if Pei Zhenyue had an accident.
After so many years of equal footing and rivalry, the feeling of the other party suddenly riding on his head was truly damn terrible!
Just as they were speaking, there was a sudden click, and both looked behind them simultaneously.
The display screen on the main gate of Building 8 flashed, and the door slowly opened.
Zhao Hongyi tensed up all over, gesturing to his subordinates, ready to attack at any moment.
The next moment, Pei Zhenyue walked out with his adjutant.
His face was calm, without the slightest sign of disarray.
What is going on?
Zhao Hongyi frowned. This old boy is actually fine.
Pei Zhenyue’s gaze swept over the group of soldiers, then looked at Bai Yi and Zhao Hongyi at the bottom of the steps.
“Aren’t you receiving guests? What are you doing here?”
Bai Yi glanced behind him and walked up a few steps to meet him.
“We heard Wushen had a program error and forcibly closed Building 8. We thought something happened to you.”
“Your news is quite fast.” Pei Zhenyue smiled with his hands behind his back. “I have food and drink in my building; are you afraid I’ll starve? It’s nice to close the door and not have to receive guests. I’m enjoying the peace.”
Bai Yi laughed along with him.
“It’s good that you’re fine. It was a false alarm.”
They were talking and laughing, which made Zhao Hongyi so angry his neck twisted to one side.
Did he take the wrong medicine, worrying so much about this kid? Abandoning guests to rush over, only for the guy to be perfectly fine and complain about him meddling.
“Old Zhao, did you sleep wrong?” Pei Zhenyue pointed at his own neck. “Why is it twisted so badly?”
Zhao Hongyi held back his anger and sneered, “I’m standing here blowing in the cold wind to cure my stiff neck!”
After speaking, he stormed off with his hands behind his back, taking his people with him.
Bai Yi checked the time. “It’s about time. Shall we go to Hall 3 together?”
Pei Zhenyue watched Zhao Hongyi walk away, then turned his head to tell his adjutant, “Go check if there are any malfunctions left in the Building 8 system.”
The adjutant glanced around, Jing Xi’s words echoing in his ears.
Do not trust anyone except Flying Dragon.
He looked calm on the surface, but was anxious inside.
Flying Dragon’s people hadn’t arrived yet. If he went back inside, the Commander would be left alone here.
Bai Yi: “You can just let your subordinates do that.”
“There’s a lot going on today; they’ve all been sent out.” Pei Zhenyue looked at him. “You go ahead and attend to things. I’ll wait for him to confirm before I leave.”
Bai Yi: “I feel uneasy. I have a feeling something will happen. I’m not comfortable leaving you alone.”
On the other side, Lu Meng was hiding around the corner with his men.
Seeing Pei Zhenyue send the adjutant back, he immediately led his men past the front of Building 8.
“Hey, you over there.”
Hearing Pei Zhenyue’s voice, Lu Meng turned his head to look.
“Sir, are you talking to me?”
Pei Zhenyue waved at him. “I remember you are that, that sss—”
Lu Meng clicked his heels and saluted. “Reporting, Sir! I am Lu Meng, Captain of the Vanguard Unit of the Flying Dragon Army!”
“Oh right, I remember now.” Pei Zhenyue looked at him. “Come with me to Hall 3.”
Lu Meng: “Yes, Sir!”
Pei Zhenyue looked at Bai Yi. “It’s fine with them here. Are you afraid I’ll be carried off by wild beasts in the military headquarters?”
Bai Yi shook his head helplessly. “Then I’ll go over first. I came in a hurry just now and haven’t explained properly to the guests.”
Once he left, Pei Zhenyue’s expression darkened.
The adjutant hurried back. Seeing Flying Dragon’s people present, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“The system has been restored, and the signal is normal.”
Pei Zhenyue said nonchalantly, “Leave a few people here. If guests come, guide them to Hall 3.”
Lu Meng: “Yes, Sir!”
“Let’s go.”
Pei Zhenyue led the people away without looking back.
On the other side, Li Bo received the news and stood up abruptly, in disbelief.
Pei Zhenyue is actually fine?!
[The guards at Building 8 have been replaced by Flying Dragon personnel. The specific situation is currently unclear.]
Li Bo paced back and forth in his office, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
At that time, it was exactly when the guards in that area were changing shifts, the time when Building 8 had the fewest people.
They spent so much effort to shut down Wushen’s control area, yet dozens of people couldn’t take out one old man?!
Flying Dragon?
Li Bo narrowed his eyes, thoughtful.
He tapped on his terminal and replied.
[Is Jing Xi there?]
The reply came back.
[He went to the infirmary to get two inhibitors after the meeting, then we lost track of him. Confirmed not in Building 8.]
Wushen’s surveillance was too dense. It was too hard to track a person silently. They could only get a general direction.
If Jing Xi wasn’t in Building 8, then who helped Pei Zhenyue?
Li Bo thought hard but still had no clue.
Regardless of whether those dozens of people were dead or alive now, with Pei Zhenyue’s current attitude, he would absolutely never let them appear again.
So many people disappearing from the military headquarters without reason—if Pei Zhenyue used this excuse to investigate, it might blow up.
He had to find a scapegoat as soon as possible and strike first!
The reception started on time.
Amidst everyone’s applause, Pei Zhenyue walked onto the podium to speak, with his adjutant and Lu Meng standing on his left and right.
After the tedious first half of the process was over, Pei Zhenyue, as the star of the night, accepted toasts from everyone with a smile on his face.
“It’s strange. President Fang of Qifang came with me, but I don’t know where he went tonight. I haven’t seen him at all.”
“President Li of Lingdong too. I met him at the main gate, but I can’t find him anywhere tonight.”
“Is there another banquet hall? President Lu, who came with me, is also missing. Strange.”
It wasn’t clear who brought it up first, but more and more people in the banquet hall began discussing this matter.
“Only this one banquet hall is open tonight.” Li Bo pretended to speak casually. “Have you all been separated from your companions?”
Everyone didn’t think much of it at first, but after hearing this, they suddenly started to feel uneasy.
One or two people could be said to have gotten separated or gone back early, but so many people missing was definitely problematic.
“I heard Chi Yao from Extreme Shadow was also invited tonight?”
“Yeah, why haven’t I seen him either? Isn’t there a medal presentation segment?”
“With so many people missing and this Star Pirate not here, could something have happened?”
“I saw Chi Yao when I passed the access control of Building 3 this afternoon. He seemed to have blood on his clothes!”
The originally harmonious atmosphere became subtle. The adjutant leaned into Pei Zhenyue’s ear to report.
Before Pei Zhenyue could say anything, a group of guests who had lost their companions walked towards him.
“Commander, we wonder if you could check where Chi Yao is?”
Pei Zhenyue smiled. “Why, do you all want to meet him?”
One of them said anxiously, “We found that many people are missing! Everyone says they haven’t seen them!”
Another person said, “Chi Yao is a high-risk individual. He hasn’t shown up until now. If we don’t look for him, it will be too late if something happens!”
The council members who were originally talking to Pei Zhenyue listened to their conversation and also began to discuss in low voices.
“I knew something would happen.”
“How could someone like Chi Yao be well-behaved.”
“Too terrifying, daring to strike even in the military headquarters.”
“Giving a medal to this kind of person? Heh.”
These officials who held heavy power only had interests in their eyes and could change their stance on a matter at any time.
The rumor of Chi Yao kidnapping guests spread quickly in the huge banquet hall.
They didn’t think about the authenticity of the matter, just watching the excitement from a bystander’s perspective. A large part of them were also there to see the joke of Pei Zhenyue being slapped in the face.
Inviting a Star Pirate to a promotion reception with great fanfare, only to have the innovative great undertaking capsize before it even set sail.
Embarrassing.
“Please be patient, everyone.” Pei Zhenyue made a gesture for silence. “I will send someone to investigate this matter immediately. Please rest assured.”
“Find out where Chi Yao is first! We are in too much danger with him here!”
“Why invite such a murderer? Now look, so many people are missing!”
“I heard just now that there was blood on his clothes. He must have done it!”
The atmosphere at the scene was not alleviated by Pei Zhenyue’s reassurance.
Zhao Hongyi stood far away with a wine glass, clearly posturing to watch the show.
Hearing many people demanding to check the surveillance, Pei Zhenyue’s gaze darkened.
“So many people are looking for me?”
A deep, pleasant voice came from the door, and everyone turned their heads subconsciously to look.
Chi Yao walked in wearing a black suit. The buttons of his white shirt were only buttoned up to his chest, and his hair could be seen to have been carefully styled.
He was already tall with long legs and excellent proportions. Although he wasn’t dressed too flashily, he became the focus of the entire venue as soon as he appeared.
Under everyone’s gaze, he walked straight towards Pei Zhenyue.
“Sorry, I was delayed by something. You wouldn’t hold it against me, would you?”
Pei Zhenyue looked at the guy smiling like a playboy in front of him, the image of the kid’s sour face from an hour ago flashing through his mind. He almost didn’t react.
“It’s good that you’re here.”
Chi Yao casually took a glass of red wine from a waiter’s tray and looked at the others with a smile.
“Were you looking for me just now?”
Clearly a smiling face, yet inexplicably possessing a kind of deterrence.
Most people didn’t dare to make a sound.
This was a Star Pirate that even the army couldn’t deal with. He was truly handsome, and truly bad!
Someone summoned the courage to ask, “Didn’t you arrive at the military headquarters quite early? Where were you during this time?”
One leads to two.
“Yeah, where were you during these few hours in between?”
Chi Yao put one hand in his pocket and sneered, “I don’t recall having an obligation to report my itinerary to you.”
“But many people are missing now!”
Chi Yao: “What does that have to do with me?”
“You are the only Star Pirate here! Of course you are the most suspicious!”
“Just because I’m a Star Pirate, I should be treated differently?” Chi Yao looked at Pei Zhenyue. “Commander, do you think what they said makes sense?”
Pei Zhenyue: “…”
Don’t throw the problem to me.
Just as they were speaking, there was another commotion at the door.
Chi Yao turned to look, and sure enough, it was Jing Xi.
Jing Xi had changed into a clean military uniform and nodded in response to those greeting him.
“This matter has nothing to do with him.” Jing Xi stood beside Chi Yao and looked at the others. “He has been with me for these few hours.”
Whoa!
Gasps came from the surroundings.
In the eyes of outsiders, Jing Xi had too many halos.
Young master of a great noble family, the youngest Major General, the ceiling of military force in the military headquarters, the junior most valued by the Commander…
The credibility of words spoken by such a person was too high.
Li Bo’s brow twitched, and his eyes turned cold.
Ruining my good things every time!
He signaled to the crowd, and someone immediately spoke up—
“Where were you? Is there anyone else to testify?”
“He clearly arrived so early, yet was late for so long. How could there be no problem?”
“Major General, I said being late isn’t good, right?” Chi Yao sneered. “If you had brought my formal wear earlier, I wouldn’t have had to wait in the garage for hours.”
Pei Zhenyue: “What happened?”
Jing Xi said respectfully, “The suit Chi Yao originally ordered was red flowers on a white background. I thought it didn’t fit the solemn and dignified occasion of the military headquarters, so I temporarily helped him order a new one. Sorry, it’s my fault.”
Everyone who heard this: “…”
Red flowers on a white background, what the fuck kind of aesthetic is that?!
Chi Yao: “…”
No need to make up such details!
Jing Xi: “If you don’t believe it, you can check the surveillance.”
Pei Zhenyue gave him an extra glance and signaled his adjutant to contact the main control console for authorization.
Soon, a huge virtual screen popped up in the middle of the banquet hall.
It showed Chi Yao being led into the garage by Jing Xi and never coming out again. It wasn’t until fifteen minutes ago, when someone in another car delivered the formal wear, that they walked out of the garage together.
How is that possible?!
Li Bo almost crushed his wine glass.
Not to mention Chi Yao, Jing Xi definitely left the garage!
This surveillance footage was edited!
Wushen’s authority was almost absolute.
Once the surveillance footage was shown, many people shut up.
But since it wasn’t Chi Yao, where did those people go?
Someone else demanded to play other surveillance footage to find clues.
“Now that you mention it, I remember,” Chi Yao drawled lazily. “I saw someone in the garage claiming to be some president of Lingdong saying he had something urgent and went back first. Instead of demanding surveillance here, why don’t you just send a communication to contact them?”
Some of the onlookers had an epiphany.
Why didn’t they think of that just now?
These people kept demanding surveillance, so why didn’t they try contacting them first?
“Got it! Sure enough, he went back because of something urgent.”
An exclamation suddenly came from the crowd.
Others turned to look; it was Zhang Sheng from Jiayu Machinery.
Zhang Sheng smiled. “Hearing so many people were missing just now, I got nervous and forgot. My friend is already home.”
“But I still can’t get through here.”
“Me neither.”
Zhang Sheng: “Then maybe they are still busy. Try calling again later.”
“Even an outsider like me knows the military headquarters isn’t a place where just anyone can run wild. Can so many living people just vanish into thin air? Are you overestimating me, or underestimating the military too much?”
Chi Yao’s gaze lingered on Zhang Sheng for a moment, then looked at the crowd and chuckled lightly. “Just because a few people couldn’t come due to business, tonight’s reception has been made into a foul atmosphere. Those who don’t know might think it was intentional to embarrass the Commander.”
The mentality of a bunch of drama-watchers was spoken out directly, and their faces looked a bit unnatural.
With words spoken to this extent, anyone who dared to make trouble would really be disrespecting the Commander.
Pei Zhenyue smoothed things over at the right time. It just happened to be the segment for presenting the medal to Extreme Shadow.
Chi Yao went on stage. As the lights hit him, he looked even more handsome.
“Putting everything else aside, Chi Yao is really handsome.”
“I like this type so much! Doesn’t look like a Star Pirate at all, more classy than a noble young master.”
“The situation has changed. Maybe he can get a household registration?”
“Didn’t I hear he has a wife? What kind of omega can catch his eye?”
Offstage, Jing Xi heard some omegas whispering.
Chi Yao accepted the medal with appropriate demeanor, glaring at Pei Zhenyue when he approached.
Jing Xi: “…”
Steady.
Getting emotional at a time like this would mean collapse.
Chi Yao smiled and stood with Pei Zhenyue for a photo.
As soon as the photo was taken, he turned and left, as if dodging a plague.
Pei Zhenyue: “…”
He hadn’t finished his summary speech yet!
There were still many items on the agenda for tonight, but the part related to Chi Yao was over.
Hall 3 was very large, with sizable courtyards both front and back.
After the procedure was over, the rest was socializing.
Chi Yao and Jing Xi followed Pei Zhenyue everywhere.
The courtyard streetlights were dim, full of atmosphere in the night.
But it also gave some people a chance to strike.
Chi Yao grabbed an alpha’s wrist and bent the fork in his hand back.
Seeing the situation was bad, the alpha tried to pull his hand back and run.
Chi Yao was a step faster, grabbing his neck and squeezing hard.
Crack.
The sound of the neck bone breaking disappeared into the laughter.
Others nearby looked over.
“What’s wrong?”
Jing Xi turned sideways to block their view and handed the person over to the patrolling Flying Dragon soldiers with Chi Yao.
Jing Xi: “He’s drunk. Take him to rest.”
Daring to strike in such a place, even if the assassination was successful, the killer couldn’t escape.
It was simply a suicide attack.
Surrounded by soldiers, others could only vaguely see a back view.
Getting drunk at a reception was common. Some people even pretended to be drunk just to stay in the military headquarters for one more day, hoping to find a chance to talk to the leaders the next day.
People were helped away intermittently, but it didn’t attract the attention of ordinary guests.
Li Bo watched from afar, his face getting uglier and uglier.
Being protected by Jing Xi was one thing, but he didn’t expect Chi Yao to take action too.
Pei Zhenyue must have given him a lot of benefits!
Until late at night, the reception finally came to an end.
Jing Xi drove Pei Zhenyue back personally.
“Is your home safe?”
Pei Zhenyue rubbed his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Arrangements have been made at home, don’t worry.”
Jing Xi drove the car out. “Should I let Lu Meng go over and take the night shift for a few days?”
Pei Zhenyue: “Thanks for the thought.”
After setting the route, Jing Xi turned to look at Chi Yao in the passenger seat.
Since getting in the car, he had been wearing a long face, getting emotional again.
Without Chi Yao tonight, there probably would have been chaos.
Those disguised people were hard to distinguish, but Chi Yao seemed able to lock onto them immediately through scent.
“Tired?” Jing Xi asked.
Chi Yao rested his chin in his hand and looked out the window, very unhappy.
“Why is this damn old man still here?”
Pei Zhenyue: “…”
Adjutant: “…”
Chi Yao hated old men to begin with, plus the susceptible period; lasting the whole night was already a miracle.
Jing Xi didn’t dare delay, speeding all the way to drop Pei Zhenyue home.
When getting out of the car, Pei Zhenyue’s feet were floating.
“Do young people drive like this?”
Adjutant: “…Probably in a hurry to get home.”
Pei Zhenyue’s home was closer to Jing Xi’s own home, and there was no one else at home, making it easier to stabilize Chi Yao’s emotions.
Chi Yao suddenly said, “I want to water the melons.”
Jing Xi: “…”
It was past midnight, thinking that Grandpa and Grandma should have already gone to sleep.
Jing Xi parked the car and led him into the house quietly.
“Xi Xi, Ah Yao, you’re back.” Bai Qi walked down the stairs and beckoned them to the dining room. “I made sweet soup.”
Jing Xi: “…No thanks, we’re full.”
Afraid Chi Yao would get violent and scold Grandma, Jing Xi hurriedly pulled him upstairs.
Passing the staircase, a sweet scent wafted over.
Chi Yao shook off his hand and rushed into the kitchen. “I want to eat.”
Jing Xi: “…!”
Five minutes later, Jing Xi stared blankly at Chi Yao sitting opposite him.
“Ah Yao, is it delicious?” Bai Qi sat aside, watching with a smile.
Chi Yao: “Mm, tastes better than what Xi Xi makes.”
Jing Xi: “…”
Chi Yao finished the third bowl, put down the spoon, went around the table, and pulled Jing Xi.
“Grandma should rest early too.”
This “Grandma” stunned both Bai Qi and Jing Xi.
Bai Qi’s eyes flickered. “Okay, you guys sleep early too.”
Back in the room, seeing him violently taking off his clothes, Jing Xi seemed to understand something.
Chi Yao took off his jacket, turned to see Jing Xi staring at him dumbly, and walked over a few steps.
Jing Xi backed away, bumped into the sofa with the back of his knees, and sat down.
Chi Yao braced himself on the back of the sofa, leaned in close, his voice very low: “Xi Xi, you haven’t forgotten what you promised me, right?”
The lights weren’t on in the room, only the light coming through the window.
Standing so close, Jing Xi could feel his hot breath, his heartbeat accelerating unconsciously.
“Now?”
Chi Yao: “Can’t I?”
Half an hour later, Jing Xi looked at Chi Yao, who had fallen asleep satisfied after taking photos.
“…”
So does this person like him, or his photos?
