He Is Constantly Jealous Of Himself

JOH CH2: A Morning Kiss

The two sat opposite each other, eating breakfast. Su Yiran was still worried about Gu Yuanting’s condition: “Don’t go to the shop today, okay? Get some good rest at home, I’ll be back early.”

He had ordered over a dozen machines for making desserts from the electronics store, and the owner had scheduled to deliver them to the shop this morning.

If he hadn’t made an appointment, he would have wanted to stay home and accompany Ting-ge.

Su Yiran thought he would quickly get things done at the shop and then return early. Gu Yuanting, who had his own plans, nodded in agreement.

After clearing the dishes, Su Yiran saw it was already past 8:20 AM. He said goodbye to Gu Yuanting, grabbed his keys, and was about to leave.

He picked up the two large boxes placed in the entryway, then bent down to pick up the remaining bags, finding it a bit difficult. He casually called out to Gu Yuanting for help: “Ting-ge, give me a hand.”

Gu Yuanting: “…”

Gu Yuanting thought of going downstairs to look around. He stepped forward and casually took the two boxes from Su Yiran’s arms, gesturing for Su Yiran to carry the bags: “I’ll see you down.”

Su Yiran looked up and smiled at him.

Gu Yuanting glanced at the small dimple on his right cheek and silently walked out first.

As he left, Gu Yuanting looked back at the room number, noting that the building had eight units per floor, which made it quite crowded, and the hallway was relatively narrow.

The elevator stopped at their floor. The doors opened, revealing a middle-aged aunt holding a grocery basket. The aunt seemed to know them, greeting them kindly and teasing: “Going out together, you two lovebirds?”

Gu Yuanting stiffened slightly, frowning.

Su Yiran smiled and replied: “Yes, Auntie. Going grocery shopping?”

The aunt happily chatted with Su Yiran for a couple of sentences before getting off the elevator on the first floor.

The two of them got off the elevator on the basement level and arrived at the underground parking lot. Gu Yuanting noticed that Su Yiran’s car was an unknown Volkswagen model.

Su Yiran opened the car’s trunk, loaded the boxes and bags inside, and then turned to Gu Yuanting: “I’m heading off then. You rest well at home.”

As he opened the driver’s side door, Su Yiran felt as if something was missing today, a sense of incompleteness.

It wasn’t until he was about to get into the driver’s seat that he suddenly remembered: he had forgotten their morning kiss today.

Su Yiran turned to look at Gu Yuanting, seeing him still standing there, unmoving. So, he pattered back.

Gu Yuanting was just about to watch Su Yiran drive away when he saw the other suddenly run back, looking up at him, hesitant to speak, with watery eyes.

Gu Yuanting: “?”

Su Yiran looked up at Gu Yuanting. Gu Yuanting was tall and imposing, his face stern, his features sharp. His narrow, dark phoenix eyes often gazed at him with deep tenderness. When he hugged him, he could completely envelop him.

Seeing the questioning look in Gu Yuanting’s eyes now, he couldn’t help but blush.

Even though they were already an old married couple, he still felt a bit shy about this sort of thing.

To, to actively ask for a kiss…

Su Yiran felt his cheeks burning, his face surely red. But after waiting for a moment, he didn’t feel Ting-ge lower his head to hug and kiss him.

Even Su Yiran’s earlobes turned a faint red. He closed his eyes, endured the shyness, stood on tiptoes, and quickly gave Gu Yuanting a soft, quick kiss on the lips, whispering: “Morning kiss.”

After saying that, he ran away as if escaping, leaving a bewildered Ting-ge standing there.

Gu Yuanting stood rooted to the spot, slow to react, and then belatedly took a step back. By this time, Su Yiran had already driven out of the parking lot, and even his taillights were out of sight.

A clear, sweet, light kiss.

His lips were inexplicably tingling, and his heart was beating uncontrollably.

What was going on? It was too strange.

His usual vigilance seemed completely absent, rendered useless in front of this Su Yiran.

Gu Yuanting frowned, scanning the parking lot. There didn’t seem to be anything unusual; it looked like an ordinary underground parking lot.

He walked out of the parking lot, intending to stroll around the neighborhood.

It was an old residential area, with decent greenery, but some of the amenities were incomplete, and the buildings looked old. Besides young people who bought houses for their essential needs, most of the residents were older generations.

As Gu Yuanting walked along the road, he saw several elderly men and women out for their morning stroll. One of them seemed to recognize him, smiling kindly and greeting him.

This gave him a strange sense of detachment. Previously, people around him either offered insincere smiles and flattery or fearfully kept their distance, which he had long grown accustomed to.

But after waking up again, everything seemed to have changed.

Gu Yuanting walked around the neighborhood and returned to the place where he had woken up. The door had a fingerprint lock. He pressed his index finger, and the door opened instantly.

He went into the study, opened his laptop, and began to operate it.

After a while, he paused.

The words of the aunt in the elevator suddenly flashed through his mind: “you two lovebirds.” On a whim, Gu Yuanting opened the middle drawer of the desk. In the depths of the drawer lay a red wooden box.

He took out the box and opened it. Inside, two red certificates lay quietly.

Flipping open the certificate, on the red-backed photo, he and Su Yiran were both wearing white shirts, heads leaning together towards the camera, lips curved, smiling very happily.

Holder: Gu Yuanting

Date of Registration: December 26, 2017

Marriage Certificate Number: *******

Marriage Certificate.

Three years ago, he married Su Yiran.

Gu Yuanting had considered his current “relationship” with Su Yiran: lover? Or even partner? But he never imagined they were married.

He paused, then put the marriage certificate back and continued to operate his laptop.

Su Yiran arrived at the newly rented shop and began to arrange the items he had brought from home.

He and Gu Yuanting had spent a long time choosing this shop location. It was in a medium-sized commercial area with high foot traffic. The location was a bit secluded, but the price was reasonable, and it was a thirty-minute drive from home.

He had just finished arranging everything when his phone rang. It was the staff from the electronics store who were scheduled to deliver the machines. They had arrived and asked for his exact location.

Su Yiran told them, and soon after, the two electronics store employees arrived, bringing in over a dozen pieces of equipment he had ordered, including freezers, baking machines, microwaves, bread makers, blenders, and more.

Then they unpacked, assembled, and tested everything. After half a day of work, everything was finally set up.

After checking that everything was in order, Su Yiran signed the delivery receipt. The two electronics store employees tied up the empty boxes and foam, loaded them onto their truck, and planned to take them back to the electronics store.

After seeing them off, Su Yiran looked at the neatly arranged equipment in the shop. He was very happy, envisioning the beautiful life of making desserts here with Ting-ge in the future, feeling sweet all over.

Su Yiran loved sweets and had always dreamed of opening a dessert shop.

This was related to his secret.

He wasn’t originally from this world; he had transmigrated from another world.

Because this fact sounded too much like nonsense, he hadn’t even told Ting-ge.

In his previous life, Su Yiran was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. At that time, the country’s economy was still in a difficult period, and funding for orphanages was very limited, so life was very hard in the early days. A meal of white steamed buns and vegetable tofu soup was a rare feast.

But fortunately, the director of the orphanage was very kind to him, and the children in the orphanage were also very kind, not as dark as the orphanages rumored online.

One day, the director suddenly called little Yiran aside and secretly gave him a piece of candy.

As a small child, he tasted his first piece of candy. The sweet taste miraculously dissolved in his mouth, filling him with overflowing happiness.

Little Su Yiran could never forget this taste, and from then on, he became obsessed with sweets.

As he grew up, in order to work and study, he set up small stalls, sold vegetables, and worked various part-time jobs during his spare time. Most often, he worked part-time at a dessert shop near his school.

After graduating from university, he worked a 9-to-5 job in an office building for a while, but his desire to start a business was always restless. Finally, he decided to resign and start his own business.

After overcoming the difficult first two years, he successfully opened his own dessert shop, and business began to flourish.

Unexpectedly, just as he had worked hard to achieve a good life, he suddenly transmigrated and became a six-year-old child in another world.

However, fortunately, Su Yiran found that this world was no different from the one he lived in previously. Besides some differences in place names and a few cultural aspects, everything else was practically a replica of his former world.

Even more, in this world, he had parents and relatives, and he also had a lover.

He and Gu Yuanting grew up together, routinely went to middle school, college, fell in love, and got married, living a very happy life until now.

Compared to his previous life, all that was missing was a dessert shop.

Now, that wish had also been fulfilled.

As Su Yiran thought about these things, and worried about Gu Yuanting’s unwell state at home, he didn’t spend any more time tidying the shop. He locked the door early and returned home.

When he got home, he found that Gu Yuanting wasn’t there. He sent a WeChat message but received no reply. Su Yiran guessed that he might have gone out for something temporary and didn’t pay it much mind, starting to prepare lunch instead.

Ting-ge wasn’t feeling well today, so he decided to make lunch extra hearty.

Su Yiran was busy in the kitchen, wearing an apron, cooking and making soup. Midway through, he heard the door lock “ding” outside. He washed his hands and went out to see. Sure enough, Gu Yuanting had returned.

Su Yiran saw water dripping from his hair and his clothes seemed a bit damp. He asked in surprise, “What’s wrong? Is it raining again outside?”

It had just rained last night, an autumn rain, and today was cloudy. When he came home, the weather was fine, and the forecast had said no rain today.

Gu Yuanting glanced at him and said faintly, “Light rain.”

Su Yiran realized again that he couldn’t trust weather forecasts. He dried his hands, walked closer to Gu Yuanting, and asked, “Are your clothes wet underneath?” As he spoke, his hand was already reaching inside Gu Yuanting’s jacket to feel around.

Gu Yuanting: “…”
