Chen Lang was born in a small county in the north. His parents were down-to-earth farmers. His life couldn’t be described as poor, but it was by no means wealthy.
From a young age, he had a restless heart; he was unwilling to live a mediocre and uneventful life. So, he studied desperately, got into a prestigious university, and worked so hard he would forget to eat and sleep. Relying on his own two hands, he finally became the darling that major companies competed for.
At that time, Cheng Ye was just beginning to make his mark. His company wasn’t particularly outstanding, and even the boss was absurdly young. When he joined Cheng Ye’s company, others laughed at Chen Lang for being mercenary. Chen Lang didn’t deny it; he loved money. After working so hard for so long, what he was after wasn’t fame and success; he was only after the numbers in his bank account.
Before he knew Cheng Ye well, he felt that Cheng Ye had ambition and courage, brains and means. Success was only a matter of time.
After getting to know Cheng Ye, Chen Lang could only summarize his boss in six dots:
……
Many people, upon first hearing Chen Lang’s name, would ask if the “Cheng” in his name was the same as Cheng Ye’s “Cheng.”
Chen Lang would smile.
His “Chen” was not that “Cheng.” Cheng Ye’s “Cheng” had an extra ‘g’ in the pinyin. This wasn’t just a ‘g’; it was clearly a gulf, an abyss.
The abyss between a man and a dog.
Cheng Ye’s stinginess was the greatest he had ever seen.
As Cheng Ye’s personal assistant, Chen Lang was responsible for arranging many of the trivial matters of his life.
Travel itineraries, accommodations, and meals for business trips.
Regarding travel expenses, Cheng Ye wouldn’t choose to take a train to save money—he was more anxious to get home than anyone—but he would snatch up special-offer plane tickets.
Chen Lang had served so many bosses, but this was the first time he had seen a boss who flew on budget tickets. Fine, fly budget, but often the departure times for these tickets were in the middle of the night, which was a disaster for a sleep-deprived corporate slave like himself.
And the creator of this disaster would sit there with a calm expression. When the flight attendant asked what he wanted, he would say, “One of everything, and he’ll have the same.”
In the middle of the night, everyone on the plane was sleeping, yet only Cheng Ye wanted the free meal box.
The meal box was hard to eat. Unless he was starving, Chen Lang would never touch it. But his boss sat next to him, head down, wolfing down the food without a care for his image. After finishing, he would even ask, “Do you want to eat?”
The corner of Chen Lang’s mouth twitched.
“No.”
Cheng Ye said, “Then order yours. I’ll eat it.”
Chen Lang: “…”
If it weren’t for the fact that the company’s financial reports showed rising numbers every month, he would have really suspected that Cheng Ye was about to go bankrupt.
The same went for the hotels they stayed at.
For Cheng Ye, as long as he wasn’t sleeping on the street, he could sleep anywhere. A hotel for two or three hundred yuan and a roadside inn for fifty a night were no different to him.
Anything over five hundred was a no-go. That was a bit too expensive; CEO Cheng generally didn’t stay in such places.
Chen Lang would book a 500-yuan-a-night hotel for himself and a 120-yuan discount room for his boss. When the room door closed in front of him, he would have the恍惚 (huǎnghū) ‘dazed’ thought that he was the boss.
The hotels CEO Cheng stayed in were like they had been hit by a swarm of locusts. He would take everything that could be taken, determined not to let the hotel earn an extra cent from him.
Chen Lang had thought he took those low-quality disposable slippers and toothpaste back for his own use, but later discovered that wasn’t the case at all. Those things were too low-quality, and Cheng Ye wouldn’t dare use them before having to kiss Jiang Shi.
The company built a break room where employees could sleep if they worked too late to go home. No one knew that the disposable amenities inside were all diligently scrounged by their big boss from his business trips. After using them, they would even praise the company’s leadership for being so humane.
Of course, there were exceptions.
Whenever Cheng Ye wanted to buy a first-class ticket and book a presidential suite, Chen Lang knew: Jiang Shi was coming.
Even having seen many celebrities, Chen Lang still thought Jiang Shi was beautiful, even more so in person than on camera.
Standing next to the glamorous star, CEO Cheng finally looked like a CEO.
Chen Lang busied himself booking the panoramic restaurant on the top floor, which cost tens of thousands a night. He stood by the transparent glass window, discussing the menu with the manager, his expensive custom-made leather shoes finally treading on priceless ground.
There was no resentment for overtime in his mind, only a long-lost sense of satisfaction.
See, this is the work a special assistant like me should be doing, not staying up in the middle of the night to grab budget plane tickets.
Cheng Ye was toxic.
The restaurant was Cheng Ye’s choice.
He was in Haicheng on a business trip for a week. It so happened that Jiang Shi had finished a commercial shoot, and Liu Heping had given him a two-day break. He had been pestering him on the phone.
Jiang Shi, worn down by the pestering, had no choice but to come to Haicheng to accompany a certain someone, abandoning his original plan to sleep at home.
When they arrived, Chen Lang was waiting at the entrance downstairs. Seeing Cheng Ye’s car, Chen Lang perceptively went forward to open the door.
It was 9 PM. Seeing that Special Assistant Chen was still at work at this hour, Jiang Shi felt bad.
“Sorry to trouble you so late. I wasn’t even going to come, but Cheng Ye insisted.”
Chen Lang didn’t feel troubled at all. He said with sincerity, “Mr. Jiang, as long as you’re willing, you can come anytime.”
Cheng Ye stood reservedly behind Jiang Shi.
The suit he was wearing was custom-made, even more expensive than the one he wore when picking him up from the hospital.
Cheng Ye usually didn’t care about these things, but Jiang Shi would buy him clothes according to his status. If anything cost over a thousand…
Chen Lang watched as Cheng Ye led Jiang Shi upstairs. “This restaurant is very famous in Haicheng. The sea is right outside the window, and the night view is beautiful.”
The restaurant was very private. Even though Jiang Shi wasn’t wearing a mask, the waiters didn’t stare. They led them to the door and left. Cheng Ye pulled out a chair for Jiang Shi and said casually, “I said before that I’d take you to eat on the tenth floor. It’s a shame that restaurant was investigated for some problems and shut down, so I invested in a new one.”
It had been too long; Jiang Shi had already forgotten about it.
“You still remember that?”
“Of course…” Cheng Ye sat next to him. “I remember everything I’ve ever said to you.”
The waiter came in to serve the dishes in succession. Jiang Shi gave him a push. “The table is so big, who sits like this? Go sit over there.”
Outside, Cheng Ye never disrespected Jiang Shi. He obediently sat down opposite him.
He raised his hand to unbutton his cuffs. The light reflected on his face, making him look stern and profound.
The moment the waiter left, he stuck to Jiang Shi’s side like a dog again, wishing he could sit on the same chair.
He was such a big person, and when he squeezed next to him, Jiang Shi couldn’t stretch his limbs and felt hot.
He reached out to push Cheng Ye’s head away. “Hey, why are you always squeezing up against me? I can’t even breathe.”
Cheng Ye licked his hand. “I missed you. It’s been almost half a month since we’ve seen each other.”
His tongue scraped across his palm. Jiang Shi paused, then swatted his face. “It’s only been half a month.”
Cheng Ye said, aggrieved, “It’s already been half a month.”
Jiang Shi couldn’t stand seeing him like that. Since there was no one else around, he let him be.
The restaurant’s view was decent, but the food was expensive and tasted bad. Jiang Shi had been on a plane all afternoon and was a bit hungry, so he slowly chewed on the foie gras.
Cheng Ye’s mind wasn’t on the food at all. He put his arm around Jiang Shi’s waist and gave it a squeeze. “Young master, how about I hold you while you eat?”
Jiang Shi was wearing a white shirt today. With an arm around him, the line of his waist became apparent. His hair was soft, his skin snow-white. Under the lights, he looked pure and alluring.
Cheng Ye’s eyes were glued to his open collar, wishing they could curve around and look inside, yet his tone was very proper. “I’ve seen it. Other couples do this on dates. It’s normal to eat while holding each other.”
Jiang Shi said, “Do I look like a fool to you?”
Though he said that, in the end, Cheng Ye still got his way.
There was a nearly one-size difference between their bodies. Jiang Shi nestled in his arms, a perfect fit. At first, Cheng Ye pretended to serve him some food, but in the end, his hand had already slipped under the thin shirt.
The food was already not good, and now Jiang Shi was getting flustered by his actions.
The man’s fingertips suddenly scraped against him. He sharply drew in his waist and reached out to grab his hand. “You… what are you doing…”
Cheng Ye’s muscles tensed, and an aura of restless desire emanated from him. He leaned on Jiang Shi’s shoulder, his hot breath blowing into his ear.
“Young master, let me eat…”
Eat what…
Jiang Shi’s ears turned red. “We’re in a private room, there are cameras.”
Cheng Ye had already checked everything out when they arrived. “There are no cameras in the private room. I’ve locked the door, and the glass is one-way.”
The two hadn’t seen each other for over half a month. It would be a lie for Jiang Shi to say he didn’t miss him, but he was more concerned about his image than Cheng Ye was. “No…”
Cheng Ye held him and turned him around, so his back was against the table. He lifted the hem of Jiang Shi’s shirt to his mouth. “Bite on this.”
Jiang Shi’s hands gripped the edge of the table tightly. Perhaps Cheng Ye’s body was too hot, making him feel a bit hot as well.
As if possessed, he lowered his head and bit onto the fabric.
Moonlight, like water, streamed into the room, a narrow, translucent white strip. When the wind blew, it swayed like a fish, and so Cheng Ye reached out his hand.
The moon’s reflection scattered in an instant.
Cheng Ye’s head was covered by the shirt. Jiang Shi reached out and held his head, tilted his own, and took a gentle breath.
“Be gentle, are you a dog?”
Jiang Shi had only eaten a few bites of the multi-thousand-yuan meal before he was carried to the floor-to-ceiling window.
Who knows what the restaurant was thinking, placing a soft couch by the window.
Cheng Ye spread his own suit jacket on it before placing Jiang Shi down.
The corners of Jiang Shi’s eyes were red. He reached out and felt the fine suit fabric. “How could you…”
Cheng Ye started to undo his tie, his words concise. “It’s dirty.”
Jiang Shi glared at him. “If you think it’s dirty, then why are you still…”
Cheng Ye said, “I’m impatient. Who told you to dress so well today to seduce me?”
Jiang Shi, who had been inexplicably blamed: “??”
He opened his mouth to speak, but Cheng Ye patted his butt. “Turn over and get on your stomach.”
The sound of a metal belt buckle echoed in the room.
“Young master, raise your butt higher.”
Jiang Shi didn’t move. After a while, Cheng Ye bent down and picked him up. He held the young man’s chin and examined his face. Pink bloomed on his snowy skin, making his throat bob.
“It’s been so long. How is the young master still so shy?”
Jiang Shi reached out and pushed his hand away. “You think everyone is as shameless as you.”
Cheng Ye didn’t deny being shameless.
He held the person and lay down, one hand on his waist. The buttons of his shirt were half-undone, the zipper of his pants pulled down.
“Then I won’t move.”
“Young master…”
He bent his knees.
“It’s tight.”
Jiang Shi’s gaze shifted downwards, then quickly darted away.
Cheng Ye’s hands didn’t move, his eyes locked on him. To urge him on, he called out all sorts of names.
“Young master.”
“Sweetheart.”
“Baby.”
“Wife…”
Jiang Shi reached out and covered his mouth, finally leaning down.
