JOH CH58: Diamond Mines
After giving away the gifts, Gu Yuanting saw that none of the classmates had any objections, which was within his expectations.
The things the original owner had done to these classmates during middle school worried Ranran, who was always concerned that the original owner bullying his classmates would leave them with psychological trauma.
Gu Yuanting had no choice but to clean up the mess left by the trash original owner and, incidentally, persuade these classmates to stay away from Ranran in the future.
He owned several diamond mines. Diamonds were light and easy to carry, and even ordinary F-grade diamonds had a decent market price, making them perfect for casual gifts.
After dealing with these matters, Gu Yuanting had someone lead the group of classmates to the next venue. He then added, “Have fun later, everyone. I have something to attend to at home, so I’ll be leaving first.”
The classmates were silent, wanting to say something but not knowing what. They could only dryly utter a few words, then silently watched Gu Yuanting depart.
Having settled the matters concerning the original owner’s former classmates, Gu Yuanting’s mood eased slightly.
He didn’t want Ranran to have any further contact with these people connected to the original owner.
He even wanted to sever Ranran’s connections with their mutual university classmates, but unfortunately, these classmates had maintained close contact with Ranran after graduating from university. Acting rashly would be discovered by Ranran.
Gu Yuanting arrived at the parking lot and saw that Ranran was already obediently sitting in the car waiting for him. Seeing him appear through the open car window, Ranran smiled at him, his eyes crescent-shaped, with a shallow dimple on his right cheek.
Looking at Ranran’s smile, Gu Yuanting’s heart involuntarily sweetened, then a dark, unspeakable urge secretly surged within him.
If possible, he wanted to block all of Ranran’s social interactions, so that Ranran’s eyes would only see him, and Ranran’s smile would only belong to him.
But he couldn’t.
He knew that doing so would make Ranran unhappy. The thought of Ranran’s little face losing its smile, showing sadness, or even crying, made his heart ache unbearably.
Su Yiran didn’t know what Gu Yuanting was thinking. Seeing him emerge from the hotel, he asked, “How was it? Where are you taking them for the after-party?”
Gu Yuanting got into the driver’s seat, leaned over, first kissed his Ranran, then replied, “The seventh floor of the hotel is the entertainment floor. It has KTV, a bar, and a billiard room, etc. I’ve arranged for someone to take them wherever they want to go.”
Su Yiran heard that he had arranged everything clearly for his classmates and felt relieved: “That’s good. It seems the classmates are all quite happy today. I hope the past is truly over now.”
Gu Yuanting nodded. He stroked Ranran’s hair and asked him, “Still sleepy? Want to sleep in the car for a bit?” He remembered Ranran was very sleepy before arriving at the hotel and even fell asleep in the car, which made him worried.
Su Yiran was indeed a bit sleepy: “A little.”
Gu Yuanting adjusted his seat and covered him with a small blanket: “Sleep for a while. I’ll wake you when we get home.”
Su Yiran nodded, closed his eyes, and Gu Yuanting started the car. With the slight rocking motion of the car, Su Yiran quickly fell asleep.
Gu Yuanting drove, thinking about the gifts Ranran had mentioned earlier. His gaze involuntarily shifted to Ranran beside him, landing on the diamond ring on Ranran’s left ring finger.
He had long wanted to take off and discard the original owner’s ring, but he worried Ranran would notice something amiss. If he threw it away for no reason, he feared upsetting Ranran. He never found a suitable excuse and had reluctantly let Ranran wear it.
He himself rarely wore the original owner’s diamond ring, only occasionally enduring the uncomfortable feeling to avoid raising Ranran’s suspicions.
He often found the diamond ring Ranran wore to be an eyesore, but he had been trying his best to ignore it.
He had already decided that at the right time, he would naturally replace the couple’s rings on his and Ranran’s hands—yes, couple’s rings, he didn’t acknowledge them as “wedding rings.”
To him, diamonds were merely stones of decent market value, meaningless. But when this stone was given special meaning, it became priceless.
He wanted to use the most beautiful diamonds, starting from the raw stone, personally cut, personally crafted, and then personally placed on Ranran’s ring finger.
To replace them with the true wedding rings that belonged only to him and Ranran.
And throw the original owner’s shabby diamond rings into the trash can.
Upon arriving home, Gu Yuanting saw that Su Yiran was still asleep, so he moved quietly out of the car, walked around to the other side, opened the car door, and gently lifted him horizontally from the car, intending to carry him inside to sleep.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he picked him up, Ranran was still startled by his movement and groggily woke up in his arms.
Su Yiran woke up to find Ting-ge holding him and understood Ting-ge’s intention. He quickly said, “I’m awake, put me down.”
Gu Yuanting shook his head, holding him without any intention of letting go. He carried Ranran directly into the house, entered the bedroom, gently placed him on the bed, and then knelt down to take off his shoes and socks.
Su Yiran wanted to push him away and do it himself, but Ting-ge unequivocally refused. Having no choice, he let Ting-ge attend to him.
Gu Yuanting settled Ranran into the covers, tucked him in, and let him take a nap. He kissed Ranran’s forehead: “Sleep.”
Su Yiran hadn’t slept enough in the car earlier. He obediently nodded, closed his eyes, and soon fell asleep.
He slept until 3:30 PM. Su Yiran woke up, washed his face in the bathroom, and felt refreshed.
He went out to find Ting-ge, saw Gu Yuanting working in the study, and didn’t want to disturb him. Fearing that Ting-ge would discover he was awake, he was about to quietly leave but was already discovered by Gu Yuanting.
“Ranran, are you awake?” Gu Yuanting saw Su Yiran at the door, immediately put down his work, and walked towards him.
Su Yiran quickly said, “You go back to your work, don’t mind me.”
Gu Yuanting shook his head: “I’m not busy,” he took Su Yiran’s hand and led him downstairs, “Did you sleep well? You should eat some fruit at this time in the afternoon.” He made Ranran sit obediently on the sofa and went to cut fruit for him.
After the Gu Group’s branch headquarters was established in City A, Gu Yuanting indeed became busier, especially during the first half-month, when he basically had to go out every day. Fortunately, he could come home at night to see Ranran.
It wasn’t until recently, when most of the company matters were handled, that he no longer needed to go to the office every day, only needing to direct remotely via computer, as before.
Gu Yuanting brought the cut fruit over and used a small fork to feed it to Ranran.
Su Yiran had protested being fed many times, but all protests were ineffective, so he finally gave up.
He blushed as he accepted Ting-ge’s feeding. The fruit was sweet and crisp, very delicious.
However, tasting the sweetness of the fruit, his craving was stirred again. The sweetness of the fruit wasn’t enough; he wanted candy, he wanted dessert.
Su Yiran looked at Gu Yuanting beside him. With Ting-ge watching him like a hawk, he didn’t dare to sneak any treats. He could only endure it desperately. Su Yiran felt that he would eventually have problems from suppressing himself…
Su Yiran quickly shook off this thought, ate all the fruit bite by bite, and somewhat satisfied his craving.
When they were having dinner, Su Yiran suddenly remembered another thing: “Oh, did you give the gifts you prepared for the classmates to them at noon? I completely forgot.”
They had planned earlier to give gifts to the bullied classmates. Ting-ge said he would prepare them, so Su Yiran let him handle it. He had forgotten about it at the dinner table and only remembered it now while eating.
Gu Yuanting nodded and said, “I did.”
Su Yiran curiously asked: “What kind of gifts were they? Did they like them?”
Gu Yuanting was about to answer truthfully. In a flash, he suddenly remembered the previous incident with the wooden carving, how Ranran had said he was wasteful and had gotten angry and argued with him over it.
“…” Gu Yuanting suddenly felt very guilty. He swallowed the truth he was about to speak and changed his words: “…It was a small gift, they liked it very much.”
Su Yiran saw Ting-ge say this, guessed it was relatively expensive, and didn’t ask further. He then thought of other topics and moved past the question.
Gu Yuanting felt a sense of relief and chatted with Ranran.
Just before bed, Su Yiran nestled in Ting-ge’s arms, about to fall asleep, when he suddenly heard Ting-ge seemingly ask with a hint of hesitation: “Ranran, do you like diamonds?”
Su Yiran was startled for a moment, wondering why Ting-ge suddenly asked that. He said, “It’s alright, why?”
Gu Yuanting tacitly took Ranran’s “it’s alright” as a liking. He stroked Ranran’s hair in his arms: “Nothing, let’s sleep.”
Su Yiran didn’t think much of it. He felt drowsiness creeping in, closed his eyes to sleep, but then felt the position was uncomfortable. He shifted slightly in Ting-ge’s arms, changing his posture a bit.
Gu Yuanting felt Ranran move in his arms and immediately asked nervously, “What’s wrong? Aching back?” As he spoke, his hand already moved to Ranran’s waist.
Su Yiran said, “Just a little, it’s fine.” Ever since he was found to be pregnant, under Ting-ge’s meticulous care, his body had been well-maintained, and his back hadn’t ached before. It was just recently that it would occasionally ache a little, which the doctor said was a normal reaction.
Gu Yuanting lovingly massaged his waist. Lately, Ranran was always lacking energy and occasionally had a sore back. He couldn’t bear for Ranran to be tired, and the frequency of “doing homework” with Ranran had significantly decreased because of this.
Fortunately, Ranran didn’t have any other reactions for now, but Gu Yuanting looked at Su Yiran’s current state and still felt incredibly pained. The thought of letting Ranran conceive his child again had already been dismissed.
After this child was born, they would never have children again.
Gu Yuanting kissed Su Yiran again. His hand, massaging Su Yiran’s waist under the covers, unintentionally touched Su Yiran’s lower abdomen. He gently touched Ranran’s lower abdomen; inside was Ranran’s baby, and what he considered to be his and Ranran’s baby.
A family of three was also very good.
The next day, after dinner, Su Yiran was watching a detective variety show in the living room when he suddenly saw Ting-ge come downstairs with a box and a document in his hand.
Gu Yuanting placed the box he was carrying on the table. Su Yiran heard the sound; it was quite heavy.
The program on TV was at a critical point in its deduction, and he was thoroughly engrossed, so he didn’t pay much attention to the box. He glanced at it and then refocused on the TV.
Until Gu Yuanting handed him the document: “Ranran, come sign this.”
Su Yiran took the document, somewhat puzzled: “What is this?”
Gu Yuanting said: “It’s a few diamond mines in Country K. You like diamonds, so I’m giving them to you.”
Su Yiran: “…………???”
