The military academy forum was indeed in an uproar, with constant arguments about Rong Shi’s true capabilities.
Many felt that Rong Shi had faced almost no danger over the three days, reaching the destination smoothly, and that anyone else could have done the same, merely attributing it to good luck.
However, many also believed that the command talent he displayed when dealing with the buffalo herd was beyond what an average freshman could achieve.
Spam threads piled up one after another, with more and more participants, yet no conclusive result was reached.
The next day, a prominent figure known for posting various analysis threads, a “Fixed Code Master,” suddenly posted: #The Secret to Rong Shi Getting First Place: No Incidents Along the Way Is the Greatest Skill#
【Morning Light Appears: Seeing so many people say Rong Shi only knows how to eat, I’m genuinely laughing in exasperation. Are you military academy students? Don’t just eat gossip all day, eat more walnuts to boost your brains! Why do others constantly encounter danger while he eats and drinks his way to first place effortlessly? Come, data on the second floor.】
In the warship’s rest cabin, Rong Shi instructed 01 to connect to the network and update data.
With the energy stone, the functions of his battle armor were gradually being restored.
【Partial data updated, but currently connected to the public database.】
In his previous life, Rong Shi had the authority of a major general, and 01 stored all data accessible with that authority. Now, he was just an ordinary student. To get more data from this era, he needed to gain authority first.
Or hack into the Imperial confidential database.
Rong Shi: “Let’s leave it at that for now. Create Lin Mo’s detailed data.”
【Will there be an energy reward if I do well?】
Rong Shi: “Depends on the weather.”
【…】
In just a few minutes, two personal files appeared on the virtual screen: Lin Mo’s current file and one from fifteen years later.
【I hacked into Lin Mo’s birth hospital, which shows his pheromone level at birth was C. Military data fifteen years later shows it as A. There’s no record of secondary differentiation between ages 18 and 33, but yesterday’s test result was B-rank.】
Rong Shi carefully compared the two files.
Pheromone levels are generally determined at birth, with a C-rank indicating that the maximum pheromone release is C-rank. A very small number undergo secondary differentiation around adolescence, and their pheromone level might increase.
This Lin Mo was C-rank at birth, now B-rank, and A-rank fifteen years later. The data was clearly problematic.
If the data was normal, then the person was problematic.
Rong Shi reviewed the detailed personal file from fifteen years later. There was indeed no record of secondary differentiation in his personal history.
“Pull up Gu Yan’s data.”
After a few minutes, 01 reluctantly projected the data onto Rong Shi’s terminal.
【This annoying guy’s pheromone hasn’t changed, it’s always been B-rank.】
Both were B-rank, so how could Gu Yan, as an alpha, be affected to that extent by Lin Mo?
Rong Shi’s slender fingers tapped lightly on the desktop.
“Can you check pheromone compatibility?”
【Yes, but the module is still being repaired and will only be active after 24 hours.】
Rong Shi’s fingers paused: “Where did you get this function?”
Pheromone compatibility programs were banned due to human rights violations. The remaining programs were sealed within the main intelligence system, with access only granted to the top three military leaders and the King.
【New module added.】
“Added?” Rong Shi mused, “When was it added?”
【Logs not yet recovered, unable to query at this time.】
Ever since his idiotic apprentice gave him 01, he had kept it by his side. How could a new function be added without him knowing?
Unable to figure it out immediately, Rong Shi pushed the question aside and got up to leave.
To understand more, data alone wasn’t enough; he needed to meet these two people.
It was already the fourth day of new training. Most students had reached the destination. Flares went off like fireworks, one extinguishing here and another lighting up there. Rescue helicopters were visible everywhere.
At the base, medical staff bustled in the corridors. New recruits, who had become familiar with each other, lay in a large medical cabin, chatting and occasionally letting out strange shouts and laughter.
“For the last two days, I had no food. I saw Chairman Rong roasting meat that day, so I roasted meat too!” A beta with his arm in a sling gestured, “I can’t believe I survived!”
“Did Chairman Rong know there wouldn’t be enough nutrient solution?” A single-lidded omega with a bandaged ankle said, “He seems to mess around, but he’s so reassuring, like he can solve anything.”
“You should’ve seen him dealing with the buffalo herd that night, he was so calm, oh, I love that type so much!” Another omega with an IV drip exclaimed excitedly, “Just that feeling of everything being under control—oh, it’s amazing!”
“What dealing with buffalo? You guys encountered a buffalo herd?!” A thick-browed alpha on the opposite bed asked.
At the mention of it, the single-lidded omega immediately perked up: “Yeah, that day we—”
In the corridor, Lu Ming and Zhang Yi, after eating, came to the medical cabin for a visit. Hearing these conversations, their faces instantly turned grim.
Zhang Yi: “Don’t mind what these people are saying.”
Lu Ming clenched his back teeth, his eyes dark: “It’s not over until the end, who wins and who loses is still uncertain.”
So what if he got first place? A student who associates with his own sex, the military academy would absolutely not accept a chairman with such a blemish!
Zhang Yi wanted to offer more comfort, but he saw Lu Ming shove the things he brought into his arms and leave in a huff.
In another rest cabin, Qin Luo stood like a child who had done something wrong, stiff as a candle: “Those two people have been sent away. If all goes well, we’ll have results tomorrow.”
Song Yu leaned back in a chair, a quantum physics book he had brought resting on his lap: “Was the one in the new training ground dealt with?”
“Thrown into the river for the fish,” Qin Luo recalled with lingering fear, then indignantly added: “They were too bold! Daring to act in a place like this?!”
Song Yu’s tone was leisurely, as if it had nothing to do with him: “If they didn’t act now, they wouldn’t have a chance once I go back. It’s worth the risk.”
Qin Luo ran a hand through his buzz cut, squatted at Song Yu’s feet, and mouthed: “Will it be—” His Royal Highness?
Turning a page, Song Yu’s gaze swept over the complex diagrams.
“The probability isn’t high, but he can’t sit still; he’ll act soon.”
Qin Luo: “So what do we do? Just wait to be attacked?”
Song Yu scoffed lightly: “I’ve already laid my weaknesses bare. He’ll simply choose an attack, all within range.”
When did he lay his weaknesses bare?
Qin Luo was bewildered. He stared at the book in Song Yu’s hand and suddenly understood.
Beating up his older brother, running away from home, rebellious behavior, gay scandal—weren’t these all of them?
Making the opponent attack in his pre-set direction, this was pure psychological suggestion.
Qin Luo gave a thumbs-up: “Good thing I’m not your enemy. Anyone who tries to outsmart you ends up badly.”
Song Yu took a piece of scratch paper and began to calculate on it, placing it on top of the book page.
“Not necessarily.”
Qin Luo: “Who else is better than you?”
The pencil lead tore the scratch paper. Song Yu’s voice was cool: “A certain guy who ate roasted rabbit.”
Qin Luo: “…” Still holding a grudge.
The Rabbit God was His Highness’s taboo. No one knew this except him. Usually, it wasn’t to be mentioned much, and contact was not allowed.
Qin Luo felt that he treated the Rabbit God as the only pure land in his heart.
But you ate it yourself, too.
On the way back to the military academy, Rong Shi recalled what Gu Yan and Lin Mo had said.
Gu Yan was clearly terrified, his mind in a daze when he spoke. Lin Mo, on the other hand, looked pale, but his eyes were remarkably bright, not at all like an omega who had just experienced his first heat.
Lin Mo’s claims of accidentally losing his inhibitor and not being familiar with Gu Yan contradicted the facts.
The more he tried to cover up, the more Rong Shi was convinced that Lin Mo consciously wanted Gu Yan to mark him.
But for what purpose, and how he achieved it, was still unclear.
Back at school, Rong Shi had just entered his dorm and hadn’t even had a sip of water when Qian Fan called him to his office.
In the office, Qian Fan sighed, holding his thermos, and said earnestly: “Xiao Shi, do you really like alphas?”
He projected some photos into the air.
“I was called back by the school leadership a day early to discuss this. There are high-ranking military officials who are unhappy about this, using this point to oppose your chairmanship of the freshmen. I didn’t sleep all night, and after much thought, I still felt I should talk to you first.”
The photos showed Rong Shi and Song Yu: one of them coming out of the cave disheveled, and another of them changing clothes side-by-side in the communal bathhouse.
To say they were explicitly intimate would be a stretch, but combined with what they had publicly said before, it became quite suggestive.
Rong Shi: “Was it Lu Youqi applying pressure?”
Qian Fan didn’t answer, implying affirmation: “AA relationships don’t have good outcomes. Aren’t there enough excellent omegas for you to choose from? You should focus on your studies now and not think too much about other things.”
He gave intermittent advice, not really against AA relationships themselves, but Rong Shi was too outstanding, and such a “blemish” absolutely could not appear.
But Rong Shi remained silent, making Qian Fan unsure how to continue.
Rong Shi wasn’t thinking about any of that.
Lu Youqi was his father’s comrade-in-arms. In his previous life, although he didn’t explicitly take sides, he had always accepted Lu Youqi’s care and reciprocated greatly after his promotion.
He had always regarded the other person as a mentor, an elder, until the last battle, when he realized that Lu Youqi’s goodwill towards him might not have been so simple.
After Qian Fan finished speaking, Rong Shi said calmly: “Actually—not long ago, I found out I was homosexual, and I didn’t want to live anymore.”
Qian Fan: “…”
Qian Fan: “!!!”
“So what if my grades are good? The military would never tolerate someone like me. I might as well live aimlessly, one day at a time.” Rong Shi clasped his hands in front of him, his eyes half-closed, his emotions unreadable: “I’m sorry, Old Qian, I’m destined not to be a good student.”
“Calm down!” Qian Fan nearly spilled his thermos, “Don’t give up hope! Life is still beautiful!”
Rong Shi: “I just want to muddle through. Even a little effort makes me want to die.”
“Don’t, don’t think like that. What’s an AA relationship? It’s nothing!” Qian Fan moved closer to Rong Shi, “Look how common BB relationships are, AA relationships are pretty much the same, too. I think you and Xiao Song are a great match!”
Rong Shi: “But—”
“Don’t worry!” Qian Fan’s voice rose by an octave in excitement, “I absolutely won’t allow my student to be ostracized because of their sexual orientation! What era is this? Who still cares about that?!”
Rong Shi: “But I—”
Qian Fan: “Don’t think about dying! Tomorrow I’ll go talk to the school leadership! I promise your chairman position will still be yours! Relax, your teacher will always stand by you!”
Half an hour later, Rong Shi opened the door and nodded to Qian Fan: “Thank you, Old Qian, I feel much better.”
Qian Fan looked relieved, smiling and waving at him: “Good, good, go back and get some rest early.”
Ten minutes later, Qian Fan slowly came to his senses.
Wait, wasn’t he supposed to tell him not to pursue an AA relationship and focus on his studies?
How did he end up achieving none of his goals, and instead encouraged him to pursue an AA relationship?
He’d been led astray by that brat again!
The second-year head of discipline was passing Qian Fan’s office door after work, about to greet him, when he heard crying from inside.
“You brat, be a human being!”
Wow Xiao Shi is such a menace xD
