SBWAN CH10
After beating up Huang Hao, Chi Yao drove back to Jing Xi’s small courtyard.
Opening the door, the little cat was obediently squatting in the entryway, craning its neck and waiting eagerly for its owner to come home.
For a moment, Chi Yao thought of the dumb dog back home.
Pets that wait for their owner to come home are good pets.
Chi Yao unilaterally forgave the cat for its previous rude behavior, squatting down and beckoning to it.
“Daughter, come to daddy for a hug.”
Yaoyao took two steps towards him, then suddenly felt something was off. It let out a soft huff from its nose, turned its head, and walked away coldly.
Chi Yao: “…”
A cat that plays games is not a good cat.
In the middle of the night, Yaoyao woke up. It walked out of its luxurious cat villa, preparing to take a stroll outside with its elegant cat-walk.
As it reached the living room, it suddenly heard a sound from the stairs and looked up.
Its owner was coming downstairs, dressed all in black.
“Yaoyao?”
Chi Yao looked at his cat daughter who was baring her teeth at him. Before it could react, he snatched it into his arms and gave it a rough pat. “Daddy’s going out for a bit. You watch the house, don’t let any bad people in, you know?”
“Meow!” Yaoyao pressed its paws on his face, pushing him away forcefully.
Chi Yao quickly let go and dodged back, narrowly avoiding getting his face scratched by the cat.
The Major General’s face was so handsome; it would be a pity to scratch it.
Yaoyao licked its paw and slowly walked away.
Chi Yao put on his black gloves and went out through the back door.
The capital star had a specially designated residential area for military officers, which was convenient for him.
The surveillance equipment in the military district was much denser than in ordinary areas, but for Chi Yao, it was a small matter.
Ten minutes later, he silently slipped into a mansion.
He easily cracked the AI surveillance and the lock on the main gate with a temporarily written program and walked in brazenly.
The interior of the mansion was luxuriously decorated, a world apart from Jing Xi’s shabby little house.
Both were major generals; Jing Xi really should reflect on why he was doing so poorly.
He wandered around the first floor and tiptoed up to the study on the second floor.
It was called a study, but there were few books in the room. The curio cabinets on three walls were filled with award certificates and trophies from over the years.
Chi Yao opened the desk drawer and rummaged through it.
Apart from some ordinary documents, there were various large-sum checks.
Military officers were not allowed to accept bribes. If such large checks were directly cashed into a personal account, the smart brain would lock it in less than a minute, and they would be summoned for a “cup of tea” by their superiors.
There was nothing he wanted to see.
Chi Yao was very disappointed.
He might as well go home and play with the cat.
So as not to leave empty-handed, he took pictures of all these checks.
As he was leaving, his peripheral vision caught something on the shelf. He looked up.
“First-Class Guardian of the Cetus Constellation” was engraved on the base of a pure gold trophy.
Chi Yao picked up the trophy and turned it over in his hand.
There was nothing special about its appearance.
He reached his hand into the trophy and soon felt a card at the bottom.
Chi Yao’s eyes narrowed as he took out the card.
The front of the card was pure black, and the back was outlined with a creepy smiley face in white lines.
Found it.
When he returned to the small courtyard, Chi Yao specifically checked the time: 3:45 AM.
He could still sleep for four hours.
He opened the door to his house, feeling sleepy in an instant.
“Daughter? Yaoyao? Daddy’s home.”
Walking through the living room, just as Chi Yao was about to take off his gloves, he suddenly heard an extremely faint sound by his ear—the sound of someone’s breathing.
He froze, his face turning cold as he strode upstairs.
Just as he reached the turn of the staircase, a black shadow suddenly flashed before him.
Chi Yao raised his arm to block, twisting his wrist with a clever trick to seize the opponent’s military knife. He reversed his grip and slammed the hilt of the knife into the assassin’s neck.
“Ugh!”
The assassin’s vision swam from the blow.
Chi Yao quickly wrapped an arm around the opponent’s shoulder, pressed down on his chin, and twisted forcefully.
With a crack, the cervical bone broke.
Chi Yao let go, kicked another assassin who was attacking him, stepped on the wall, and used the momentum to flip over and dodge a third assassin, seizing their knife and killing them with it.
In less than a minute, four assassins lay on the ground, no longer breathing.
Looking at the bodies on the floor, Chi Yao was very annoyed.
It’s so fucking hard to get a good night’s sleep.
A soft footstep sounded from the top of the second-floor stairs. Chi Yao looked up and saw Yaoyao squatting in the middle of the path, watching him.
As their eyes met, Yaoyao tentatively extended a small paw towards the next step down.
Chi Yao blocked the bodies from her view. “This is not for a young lady to see. Go back to sleep.”
Yaoyao froze. “…”
The man and cat had a standoff for a moment, then the cat walked away coldly.
Chi Yao carried the assassins one by one to the back of his hover car, making two trips.
After stowing the bodies, he opened the driver’s seat and got in.
Taking a loss silently was not his style.
Since they had ruined his sleep, then some people shouldn’t expect to sleep either.
After dumping the bodies in a certain courtyard, Chi Yao set a timer for the AI surveillance facing the area to turn on.
The next day, before the sky was even bright, Chen Bingfeng was awakened by the scream of a maid.
He went downstairs with a grim face. “Who was that screaming just now? Get your salary and get out immediately!”
A group of people in the courtyard heard his angry roar and turned to look at him, their faces pale.
“Master, there-there are so many bodies here!” The maid pointed at the corner of the wall, trembling.
Bodies?
Chen Bingfeng’s heart skipped a beat. He pushed aside the gawking servants and strode over.
Weren’t these the assassins sent over last night?!
Why were they here?!
On the other end, Chi Yao took several showers. He was too agitated and lay in bed without any sleepiness.
Finally forced into a corner, he went online to find children’s bedtime stories and finally managed to lull himself to sleep just as the sky was getting light.
[Master, there is a suspicious target at the door, please check as soon as possible—Master, there is a suspicious target at the door, please check as soon as possible—]
The AI’s voice kept ringing in his head.
Chi Yao was woken up by the noise. He held his forehead, feeling extremely irritable.
Who the hell comes for an assassination in broad daylight? Don’t they have anything better to do?
He glanced at the time. He thought he had just closed his eyes for a moment, but it turned out he had slept for more than two hours.
Flinging off the covers and getting out of bed, Chi Yao casually brushed his long hair, which had fallen in front of his eyes, to the back and opened the window to look downstairs.
He had thought the suspicious target was Chen Bingfeng. After all, he had sent him such a big gift, so it was normal for him to come over.
But the person downstairs was indeed an old man, just not Chen Bingfeng. He was dressed quite scholarly, not like a crude soldier from the military.
Chi Yao sat on the windowsill with his arms crossed and said coldly, “Old man, are you senile? Don’t wander around other people’s houses.”
The old man outside the courtyard gate heard the voice and looked up, his expression one of shock.
Chi Yao said irritably, “If you don’t scram, I’ll beat you up.”
The old man, with his hands behind his back, was so angry he could barely breathe.
“You brat, I’m your grandfather!”
Chi Yao: “…”
Author’s Note:
Chi Yao: I’m sorry, I’m the one who’s senile.
Jing Xi: Why are you suddenly kneeling?
