It was as if someone had knocked heavily on the door to his heart. Bai Su stared blankly at Chen Tian in front of him.

It wasn’t that he hadn’t imagined the other party might eventually say the words he had been longing for, but this proactive kiss was completely unexpected.

A sweet, intimate pet name like “baby” caused a rare sense of bashfulness to rise in Bai Su. Coupled with the unabashed emotion in the other’s eyes, he found himself utterly defenseless.

The ease and composure he usually possessed vanished entirely when facing this person at this moment.

His heart raced wildly. Originally a silver-tongued man, he suddenly found himself unable to speak a single word.

    “Baby? Call me ‘Husband’!”

But Chen Tian had no intention of letting him off that easily. Rubbing affectionately against his sweetheart’s nose, the man persisted relentlessly.

Seeing the expectant look on the other’s face, the tips of Bai Su’s ears grew hot. He felt fortunate that he had indeed drunk quite a bit of wine today, making his cheeks naturally flushed; otherwise, his facade would surely have been seen through.

Patting the bed, Bai Su deliberately slurred, “Wrong. I am the husband, and you are my wifey!”

Playing the rogue, he executed the act of a drunkard to perfection.

After saying that, he leaned in and took the initiative to plant a kiss on Chen Tian’s cheek, chuckling, “Wifey is so beautiful!”

Seeing this, Chen Tian couldn’t help but want to laugh. Although he hadn’t achieved his original goal, the feeling of his sweetheart offering a kiss was absolutely wonderful.

Unable to hold back, he pulled the young man into his arms and began dropping random kisses all over Bai Su’s face. From his forehead, to his eyes and brows, down the bridge of his nose, his cheeks, and finally landing a kiss on those soft, red lips.

Feeling the person in his arms tremble slightly, Chen Tian tightened his hold and let out a sigh of deep satisfaction.

Bai Su, however, was completely kissed into a daze. No matter how much he had thought about it before, it had all been just theory.

He had never been this close to anyone, even though he had taken liberties with the beauty’s lips while the man was unconscious. But being held with such absolute possessiveness, showered with affectionate, adoring kisses like this—it made his very soul tremble.

Burying his head deep into the crook of the man’s neck, Bai Su took a deep breath. Filled entirely with the fresh, clean scent of his sweetheart, he became utterly intoxicated.

Chen Tian also noticed the somewhat hazy look on the young man’s face. The corners of his mouth hooked up as he asked, “Baby, Bai Su, I like you so much! Do you like me?”

Hearing Chen Tian say he liked him, Bai Su felt as if his entire body was on fire.

Faced with this utterly irresistible temptation, Bai Su lifted his head, looked at Chen Tian with misty eyes, and nodded vigorously.

“Zichen, my heart delights in you!”

No longer willing to care about anything else, Bai Su recklessly poured out the love in his heart.

Hearing the absolute sincerity in the other’s tone, Chen Tian felt that even if these were drunken words, they were undoubtedly true.

Unable to endure it any longer, the man reached out, gently cupped Bai Su’s face, lowered his head, and kissed him deeply.

Lips and teeth intertwined. To Chen Tian, this was his first true kiss with his beloved in this minor world.

The feeling of sharing each other’s breath was too wonderful, and he couldn’t help but sink into it—only to be pushed down onto the bed in the very next second.

    “Husband.”

A soft murmur brushed against his ear. Looking up, he saw a certain someone gazing down at him from above.

The usually gentle, jade-like young man now had eyes shimmering with water. The corners of his crimson lips tilted up like an enchanting demon as he began stripping off his red wedding garments piece by piece right in front of him—a scenery Chen Tian had never witnessed before.

Bai Su’s heart overflowed with love, his mind screaming that he couldn’t wait another second to possess this person.

He was going to swallow his beauty whole into his stomach!

The red candles burned all night until dawn.

When Chen Tian woke up, it was broad daylight outside, but the person in his arms was still asleep.

Looking at Bai Su’s peaceful sleeping face, Chen Tian’s heart was filled with satisfaction.

Last night, he had only intended to take advantage of the man’s drunkenness to confirm his true feelings, never expecting his lover to give him such a massive surprise.

However, seeing how proper and observant of etiquette this person usually seemed, yet how passionate he was in bed, truly filled Chen Tian with overwhelming joy, causing him to lose his restraint for a time.

He had originally kept in mind that it was his lover’s first time bearing it and had planned to be careful and only do it once. But he had been entangled and tempted time and time again.

Looking at the kiss marks on the other’s body, Chen Tian let out a silly smile. He leaned in to kiss his partner’s cheek before getting up, intending to get dressed and prepare breakfast.

Who would have known that the moment he sat up, a fair arm stopped him. The person in his arms had already opened his eyes and was looking at him with a smile.

Chen Tian unconsciously returned the smile, his heart leaping with joy once he registered it.

He had been a bit worried that his lover would wake up angry and turn hostile. Although Bai Su had initiated things yesterday, he had ultimately been drunk. The fact that Chen Tian hadn’t resisted the temptation was ultimately his own fault.

But now, it was obvious Bai Su remembered everything, and wasn’t at all resistant to their relationship.

“Why are you up so early?” Bai Su asked, looking at Chen Tian.

“It’s not early anymore. I’ll go make something to eat first, you rest well in bed.”

As Chen Tian spoke, he reached out and stroked Bai Su’s cheek. Watching his sweetheart subconsciously nuzzle against his palm made his gaze grow even softer.

The next second, Bai Su also pushed himself up with some difficulty. Seeing Chen Tian try to stop him, he explained, “I’d better get up with you. Today is the day to serve tea to the elders. No matter what, I am the husband; I can’t let my wifey do it all alone!”

Bai Su’s eyes carried a teasing glint that made Chen Tian blush, while also feeling a bit remorseful for being too unrestrained the night before.

Reaching out, he expertly massaged Bai Su’s waist, then retrieved his clothes and considerately served his sweetheart as he got dressed.

Seeing Chen Tian’s attentiveness filled Bai Su’s heart with immense sweetness.

They now had both the title and the reality of marriage. Although the other’s identity was fake, after last night, Bai Su’s heart finally felt grounded.

He rejoiced that the person he liked held him in his heart too, that their feelings were truly mutual. This made him realize there were certain things he needed to ask clearly.

But before he could speak, the man opposite him took the initiative to confess, “Suzhi, it seems I haven’t told you my real name yet. My name is Huo Tianchen.”

    “Huo Tianchen?”

Hearing this, Bai Su was stunned. No matter how ignorant or ill-informed he was, there was no way he hadn’t heard of the current Second Prince, the God of War of all Dongye—a figure of such resounding fame.

He just hadn’t expected the gap in their status to be even wider than he had imagined. If this person ever wanted to leave him one day, trying to completely control and confine him by his side seemed like it would be exceedingly difficult.

Bai Su’s mind raced, though his face remained impassive.

Chen Tian, however, grew genuinely anxious. With their relationship reaching this stage, he couldn’t possibly keep his identity a secret from his sweetheart and let misunderstandings brew between them.

Rather than being discovered later and facing a disastrous fallout, it was better to confess and explain now, nipping any potential insecurities in the bud.

This was a lesson Chen Tian had summarized after experiencing the previous worlds.

Meanwhile, what Bai Su was actually weighing in his mind was the current political climate. Bai Su was well aware of Dongye’s present situation.

The old Emperor’s health was declining by the day. Currently, the two princes most capable of competing for the throne were the First Prince, Huo Kangcheng, and the Second Prince, Huo Tianchen.

To him, if Huo Tianchen didn’t become Emperor and merely remained a Prince, once Bai Su entered the imperial court and planned carefully, he might be easier to manage.

Because if his sweetheart became Emperor, there was no guarantee there wouldn’t be three palaces and six courtyards (a harem).

Even if he himself was unwilling, it would be difficult to stop the nobles and ministers from stuffing people into the inner palace. How could the court ministers ever rest easy if he didn’t spread the royal branches and leaves?

However, if he didn’t fight for the throne and truly let Huo Kangcheng become Emperor, it would be even more dangerous.

Currently holding military power, Huo Tianchen would undoubtedly become the thorn in Huo Kangcheng’s side and the nail in his eye.

A single misstep would be equivalent to hanging their lives on the edge of a blade, potentially becoming fish meat on another man’s chopping block.

Since he loved this person deeply, he naturally couldn’t bear for him to suffer the slightest harm, meaning this throne absolutely had to be seized.

At this thought, a smile appeared on Bai Su’s face as he said to Chen Tian, “I never expected you to be His Highness the Second Prince.”

Bai Su’s expression was neither humble nor arrogant, yet it made Chen Tian feel as if a high wall had suddenly been erected between them overnight. An invisible barrier seemed to lie there, sending a wave of panic through his heart.

Instantly, he grabbed his lover’s hand and began explaining, slightly incoherently.

“Suzhi, please don’t be angry! I didn’t intentionally deceive you. I was just worried that knowing my identity would create a rift between us! My heart truly delights in you; you are the only partner I want in this lifetime! Please, don’t be angry with me!”

Chen Tian’s posture left Bai Su momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected the other party to be so eager to make such a promise.

But he also knew Chen Tian’s words were undoubtedly true. Because his current identity was merely a Xiucai; the other party had absolutely no need to deceive or flatter him.

His eyes softening, Bai Su looked at the anxious man staring back at him and felt a sudden urge to laugh. He was clearly the one who should be nervous, yet the other was acting as if terrified of being abandoned.

Reaching out to gently stroke the man’s cheek, Bai Su called out softly, “Tianchen.”

Huo Tianchen was Chen Tian’s name in this world. Since the name ‘Zichen’ was fake, calling him Tianchen now actually signified greater intimacy.

Realizing Bai Su was close to him again, Chen Tian hurriedly pulled him into a tight embrace, constantly mumbling names like “Suzhi” and “Baby,” while declaring they would be together forever.

He rubbed his head fiercely against the crook of Bai Su’s neck, just like a large dog.

When he finally lifted his head a long while later, he had turned into a beauty with a head full of messy hair. This made Bai Su chuckle inwardly. Unable to resist, he pinched the man’s chin and gave him a lingering kiss.

The two acted lovey-dovey for quite a while before finally straightening their clothes and leaving the room.

Once outside, Chen Tian realized the old manager hadn’t actually left. There were several servants currently bustling about the house, though heaven only knew where they had slept last night.

Bai Su wasn’t surprised to see the old manager and nodded at him with a smile.

Now that he knew Chen Tian’s identity, he could understand why a mere bookstore manager possessed such significant capabilities.

Breakfast had long been prepared. There was a wide variety of dishes, clearly not made using ingredients originally from the house, but meticulously prepared in advance.

Chen Tian shot the old manager an approving glance, just as Mother Bai was supported out by a maidservant.
