Chapter 140: Little Rabbit x Archon

Unaware of the two rabbit ears twitching on his head, Wen Chu carefully stroked Xiu’s stomach, his face full of hope as he whispered, “Is the baby moving?”

Xiu spoke with difficulty. “Is there any possibility… that I’m not pregnant at all?”

“Impossible,” Wen Chu rejected the idea instantly.

He was very serious. “You ate so much last night, you must be pregnant. We’re going to have little rabbits very soon.”

Xiu: “…”

Xiu didn’t know how to explain to Wen Chu, who was currently in heat, that humans did not possess the terrifying reproductive capabilities of lop-eared rabbits. He could only settle for the next best thing. “…Forget it. Let me take a shower first. Your cake has arrived; I’ll go bring it in—you still want to celebrate your birthday, right?”

“Oh.”

Perhaps because he was full, Wen Chu was exceptionally agreeable. He nodded obediently and let go.

Seeing Wen Chu’s flushed face and dazed expression, Xiu felt a bit worried about him. “Are you alright? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

Wen Chu shook his head in confusion.

He wasn’t uncomfortable; he was perfectly fine. He just felt that Xiu should be carrying little rabbits by now.

Xiu was a bit surprised.

In previous heat cycles, Wen Chu would always be uncomfortable, clinging to him and acting coquettish. This was the first time Wen Chu didn’t seem to feel anything adverse.

Still uneasy, he instructed, “I’ll finish showering soon. Call me if you feel bad.”

Wen Chu nodded obediently again.

So, Xiu hissed in a breath of cold air and separated himself from Wen Chu.

Wen Chu watched with regret as the fluid flowed out of Xiu’s body.

What a waste. That much could have made another litter of little rabbits.

But it doesn’t matter. Xiu should be carrying plenty already.

Wen Chu turned his gaze to Xiu’s stomach, causing a chill to run down Xiu’s spine.

Under Wen Chu’s exceptionally intense gaze, Xiu got out of bed and forced himself to walk into the bathroom.

Actually, he had wanted to drag that dirty rabbit on the bed in to wash up too, but right now, the two of them were far too prone to accidental discharge.

Xiu didn’t want to get beaten up again and waste another entire day.

He showered quickly, roughly cleaned himself up, and looking at his finally flat lower abdomen, barely managed to recover from the absurdity that he had rolled into bed with his adopted son.

“Really… what nonsense is he spouting?”

The tips of Xiu’s ears were slightly red.

No matter how capable he was, he hadn’t reached the point where he could get pregnant.

After washing up, Xiu changed into a fresh bathrobe and greeted Wen Chu, who was still sitting on the bed in a daze, as he exited the bathroom. “I’ll go bring your cake in first and cook a couple of dishes. You take a shower and come out to eat.”

Wen Chu snapped back to reality and looked up, his rabbit ears swaying with his movement.

Xiu looked at him, feeling a sudden urge to laugh. He softened his voice, confirming repeatedly as if instructing a child, “Got it?”

“Got it,” Wen Chu answered subconsciously.

He had already thought of names for the first twenty children and was just about to tell Xiu when his gaze shifted slightly and he saw Xiu’s once-again flat lower abdomen.

—Where are the children??

Wen Chu was shocked.

He wanted to stop Xiu immediately to ask for clarification, but after giving his instructions, Xiu turned and pushed the door open to leave, completely failing to notice Wen Chu’s strange reaction behind him.

Click.

The door closed. Wen Chu looked blankly at the messy bed, then at the door.

Fact: He did it with Father many times last night.

Also Fact: Father’s belly got big.

Conclusion: Father was pregnant with his little rabbits.

The logic held up, so why did Xiu’s belly deflate as soon as he turned around?

Wen Chu couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard he thought, so he slowly made his way to the bathroom to wash up.

He felt the answer was not far away, but between him and the correct answer lay an invisible veil he couldn’t see through.

Father gets pregnant, that’s just how it is.

Where in the world does one mate with a lop-eared rabbit and not produce little rabbits?

Wen Chu was puzzled.

Wen Chu was distressed.

Wen Chu was depressed.

When Wen Chu finished showering and came out of the bathroom, he saw Xiu had changed into loungewear and was wearing an apron, bringing dishes to the table. Seeing Xiu’s lean waist and flat stomach, he finally couldn’t help but ask, “Where are our little rabbits?”

Xiu only realized what Wen Chu was saying after putting down the last dish. He helplessly untied his apron and said, “I can’t get pregnant. It’s a delusion caused by your heat cycle.”

Wen Chu froze in place as if struck by lightning, feeling his worldview shatter.

“You can’t carry little rabbits?” Wen Chu looked at Xiu with sadness and shock, tears already swirling in his eyes. “Are you lying to me? I remember very clearly, you were pregnant with our little rabbits just now.”

Xiu’s ears turned bright red. “That wasn’t pregnancy, that was your…”

It was truly difficult to speak of, but meeting Wen Chu’s heartbroken gaze, he had to bite the bullet and explain.

“It was because there was too much of your stuff…” Xiu’s voice was very small.

But Wen Chu’s hearing was good enough to hear it clearly.

“You’re lying.” Wen Chu refused to accept this explanation, tears falling instantly. “It’s impossible that you can’t get pregnant. Is it because you don’t want to give birth to little rabbits, so you secretly got rid of them behind my back?”

Xiu: “…”

What kind of tragic drama is this?

Xiu had a headache. “I only went to shower for ten minutes. Where would I find the opportunity to have an abortion?”

Wen Chu’s tears fell like they were free, biting his lower lip and crying messily. “You just… don’t want to have little rabbits with me, I wu wu wu hiccup wu wu…”

Xiu attempted to reason with Wen Chu. “Why do you think I can get pregnant?”

Wen Chu explained while crying, “You should have two gestational sacs, one for pregnancy and one for storing sperm. As long as I give it to you, you can definitely get pregnant.”

Xiu: “…”

So Wen Chu thinks of me as a rabbit too, huh?

Xiu pointed to the side of his own head. “What you’re talking about is rabbits. I am human. Look, I don’t have rabbit ears, how can I get pregnant?”

Wen Chu was actually stunned by his words. He held back his tears for a few seconds, then cried even harder.

“You just despise me for being a rabbit, that’s why you don’t want to have little rabbits with me…”

Xiu: ??

What is this logic? Is Wen Chu actually listening to me?

Xiu was completely out of ideas and decided to just go with the flow. “That’s right, I am pregnant with little rabbits. It’s just not showing yet. Humans need ten months of pregnancy. You have to wait another two or three months before you can tell I’m pregnant.”

Wen Chu stopped crying and looked at Xiu with teary eyes. “Really? You aren’t lying to the rabbit?”

Xiu just wanted to end this farce. “Really. Let’s eat first. Don’t you want to celebrate your birthday?”

“Celebrate!” Wen Chu didn’t hesitate.

If Xiu said it was real, then it must be real. They already had little rabbits now.

Wen Chu was easily coaxed. He sat down at the dining table with red eyes.

Looking at his tear-streaked face, Xiu helplessly went to heat up a towel to wipe Wen Chu’s face.

“Look at you, you’re such a big person now, why do you cry so easily?”

Wen Chu’s cheeks turned even redder from the wiping. He sniffled and said, “It was Father who bullied people first.”

He almost thought Father really wasn’t going to give birth to little rabbits for him; the sky had nearly fallen.

Xiu had no words to refute this and silently wiped Wen Chu’s face.

Knowing Xiu was pregnant made Wen Chu happy. While his face was being wiped, he chattered to Xiu, “I’ve already thought of names for the first twenty rabbits. We’ll call them Wen Ai Xiu (Wen Loves Xiu), Wen Lian Xiu (Wen Adores Xiu), Wen He Xiu (Wen with Xiu)…”

Wen Chu rattled on for a while, finally looking at Xiu with shining eyes. “How about it? The next twenty will take your surname, and you can name them.”

Xiu: “…Good names. I’m not good at naming things; you can name the remaining twenty too.”

Fortunately, we don’t really have children, otherwise I’d really worry about them having low self-esteem for life because of their names.

Wen Chu shook his head seriously. “No, I must give you half. This is just the first litter; there should be two more litters after this. I can’t name them all.”

Xiu bit the bullet. “Then just number them? One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and so on.”

Wen Chu had no objections to these perfunctory names; in fact, he was even happier. “Okay!”

Xiu understood now. This guy didn’t care about the children at all; he just wanted the process of having rabbits and raising rabbits with him.

…What kind of weird heat cycle fetish is this?

Xiu had no way to convince Wen Chu for the time being. He could only hope that Wen Chu would sober up after his heat cycle ended in half a month. Otherwise, he really didn’t know how to maintain the “pregnancy” lie.

He sighed. “Let’s eat first. You didn’t rest well last night; you must be hungry, right?”

Wen Chu actually wasn’t hungry. Under the influence of the heat cycle hormones, he only felt that Xiu smelled even more fragrant, and that he could mess around with Xiu for a few more nights.

But this was food cooked by Father. If Father said he was hungry, then he was hungry.

Wen Chu picked up his bowl to eat. After a few bites, he remembered something and looked up to add to Xiu, “Little rabbits grow very fast. When the time comes, you can sell a few litters to supplement the household income.”

Xiu said subconsciously, “Selling children isn’t very good, is it?”

Wen Chu was stunned. “Then do you want to eat braised rabbit meat?”

Before Xiu could answer, Wen Chu started thinking further. “Eating them is okay too, but there are too many. Just us eating them, who knows how long it will take. Should we send some to Secretary Li and the others…”

“Stop.” Xiu interrupted Wen Chu’s dangerous speech expressionlessly. “Eat first.”

This stupid rabbit’s cognition was already confused, switching between thinking of himself as a human and a rabbit.

Xiu didn’t know how to explain it to Wen Chu, so he simply used food to stop the other’s mouth.

Wen Chu shut his mouth, but his brain didn’t stop working while he ate:

I can send twenty braised rabbits to Secretary Li. The adjutant likes spicy food, so I’ll make spicy rabbit heads…

Although Wen Chu didn’t feel hungry, his physical exertion earlier meant he unknowingly ate two bowls of rice.

By the time he came back to his senses, the food on the table had been emptied by him and Xiu.

Xiu got up and simply tidied up the dishes to clear a space on the table for the cake.

He opened the box, revealing an exquisite and beautiful strawberry cake, with the words he had requested written on it.

—”Happy Birthday Baby Chu.”

Xiu lit the candles and looked at Wen Chu with a light smile. “Baby, happy eighteenth birthday.”

A chaotic, ambiguously entangled eighteenth birthday.

Wen Chu looked at the flickering candlelight on the cake and whispered, “I’m not a baby anymore.”

He had already gotten Xiu pregnant; he was an adult.

Xiu picked up his camera to take a picture of Wen Chu.

He looked at the boy with two drooping rabbit ears in the lens, his gaze gentle, just like when he looked at the ignorant little lop-eared rabbit all those years ago.

“To me, you will always be a baby rabbit.”

All these years of indulgence and doting, doting so much that even last night he couldn’t refuse.

The little lop-eared rabbit he raised by hand.

His most cherished treasure.

The cake Xiu ordered wasn’t big, only five inches. After splitting it with Wen Chu, there wasn’t much left.

Long hair was a bit in the way when eating cake, so Wen Chu tied his hair up. He also used a hair tie to prop up the ears drooping by his face before continuing to eat.

While eating, he didn’t forget to correct him. “I’m not a baby rabbit. We have children now; we should get married immediately. Father, I want to be your husband.”

Xiu had learned to ignore the messy family dynamics in Wen Chu’s words and agreed casually, “As long as you don’t regret it, I’m ready anytime.”

Having reached this step, just getting married actually seemed less shocking.

Wen Chu twitched his ears happily. Just as he was about to continue, Xiu’s phone rang.

Xiu checked the caller ID.

It was Secretary Li.

Xiu frowned.

Yesterday he had already given notice that he was celebrating Wen Chu’s birthday and that unless it was an emergency, no one was to disturb him. Why was Secretary Li calling now?

Xiu turned on the speakerphone. Secretary Li’s anxious voice came from the other end. “Archon, where are you right now? Wen Chu’s information was leaked by someone, and now the Upper District is looking for you everywhere…”

Wen Chu interrupted seriously, “Then tell them to wait first. Xiu and I are preparing for pregnancy, it’s not convenient to go out. I’ll handle it— Mmph mmph mmph!”

Wen Chu’s brazen words were cut off halfway by Xiu covering his mouth.

But by this time, covering Wen Chu’s mouth was too late.

Secretary Li paused on the other end of the phone for a full ten seconds before letting out a confused single syllable.

“Huh?”
