Jing Xi flicked his eyes over.

    It was a face he didnโ€™t recognizeโ€”
but the infuriating smirk and that voice, all too familiar.

โ€œYouโ€™ve got the wrong person,โ€ he said coolly, withdrawing his gaze, eyes back on the newsfeed.

Chi Yao tugged off his baseball cap and tossed it onto the table. โ€œThe stench of liquor rolling off you is enough to intoxicate me, and youโ€™re still playing dumb?โ€

Jing Xi frowned slightly, instinctively drawing in a breath.

    No scent.

His heat was long pastโ€”pheromones couldnโ€™t just leak into the air unchecked.

โ€œYou followed me here?โ€ his tone turned like ice.

Chi Yao sneered, โ€œWith that thirtyโ€‘six cents in your account? My Iron Bear wouldnโ€™t even bend down for it. Worth me tailing you? Please.โ€

    Jing Xi: โ€œโ€ฆโ€

Chi Yao leaned back in the seat, dragging his voice out slow. โ€œI just wrangled Cetus for you, and barely a breath later youโ€™re here inspecting it yourself? Major General, so professional.โ€

Jing Xi flipped through the news feed without looking up. โ€œThanks to you, Iโ€™m on an extended holiday.โ€

Chi Yao: โ€œAnd how will you thank me?โ€

Jing Xi: โ€œA prison suite with iron bars?โ€

    Chi Yao: โ€œโ€ฆโ€

A day later, the starship docked at Cetusโ€™s Tenth Station.

Chi Yao slung his pack over his shoulder as his cabin door slid openโ€”right across from Jing Xiโ€™s.

Two unfamiliar faces met, indifferent. They exited without a word.

Half an hour later, boarding the same flight to N9, they ended up in the same cabin.

    Chi Yao: โ€œโ€ฆโ€
    Jing Xi: โ€œโ€ฆโ€

    This was fateโ€™s cruel joke.

Chi Yaoโ€™s terminal buzzed with report after report. He replied, then glanced over.

His opposite sat like a mannequinโ€”silent for hours. That mask of a face lopped off ninety percent of the beauty. The lingering ten sat entirely in his eyes.

With this face, Chi Yao thought darkly, he mightโ€™ve crushed him to death the first moment they met.

He almost missed his enemyโ€™s devastating looks.

Flicking open his album, he projected some of the stolen selfies.

Crack crack crackโ€”the sound of joints grinding.

โ€œPut it away,โ€ Jing Xi ordered coldly.

    โ€œWhat, looking at beautyโ€™s a crime now?โ€

    โ€œSwitch it private.โ€

โ€œTheyโ€™re not shameful shots. Why hide them?โ€

โ€œThen go to your room to look.โ€

Chi Yao chuckled. โ€œYou donโ€™t seriously think Iโ€™ll be doing something indecent to photos, do you? Anyway, itโ€™s just us here. Even if I didโ€”why bother with a room?โ€

    โ€œPutโ€”โ€

โ€œOh, youโ€™re going to call me dissolute again? How about I prove it?โ€ He set his hand on his belt buckle like he might open it then and there.

    Jing Xi scowled.

That message from days ago floated back: love you o~.

Once he had dismissed this man as warped, decadent, drowning in lovers and bedpartners.

Now he added another row of damning tags: reckless AO, utterly amoral, pure scum.

Expression tight, Jing Xi rose and left for his room.

The door slammed with a bang, muting Chi Yaoโ€™s unrestrained laugh spilling through the crack.

    So childish.

So relieving. He laughed until his stomach ached, then tapped into the photoโ€™s note file and added:

    [Amusing to tease.]

When the shuttle descended, Chi Yao lingered deliberately at the exit to glimpse Jing Xiโ€™s paperwork.

    [Name: Xi Jingjing. Beta.]

    โ€œโ€ฆ,โ€ Chi Yao hummed, amused.

Outside the terminal, he slipped into a hired hovercar, rolling down the window and smiling to the man behind.
    โ€œNeed a lift, Jingjing?โ€

Jing Xiโ€™s cold face flickered, his words biting: โ€œNo need, Yaoyao.โ€

    The last syllables bitten hard.

Chi Yao only smirked, raising the window as his car shot off.

Moments later, Jing Xi opened his terminal. A blue dot tracked on the screenโ€”moving. His satellite tracker hidden on Chi Yaoโ€™s device.

    Already paying off.

Chi Yaoโ€™s car streaked toward the luxury quarter. He smirked at his wristโ€‘screen.
โ€œDidnโ€™t want my invite, but youโ€™ll stalk instead? Playing coy?โ€

He snapped his fingers and summoned the AI. โ€œDial N90011.โ€

A black screen flickered alive, a deep male voice sounding: โ€œBoss.โ€

Chi Yaoโ€™s eyes stayed on the road. โ€œTail the hovercar marked ASW3212N. Report any movements.โ€

    โ€œUnderstood.โ€

    โ€œAnd 013?โ€

โ€œHeโ€™sโ€ฆ top billing at the Lure Club,โ€ the voice said grudgingly.

    Chi Yao: โ€œโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHeโ€™s earning plenty. Brags in the group every day,โ€ it added sourly.

    Chi Yao: โ€œโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€

By evening, Chi Yao had swapped into a sharp suit, standing at the Lure Clubโ€™s grand doors.

On N9, such clubs were as common as casinos.

Inside, he flashed the black card borrowed from a subordinate. Automated scans beeped; a bowing attendant hurried to guide him.

    โ€œSend Yu Yi.โ€

    โ€œAt once.โ€

As he entered the elevator, the attendant whispered into her earpiece:

โ€œBlackโ€‘card guest requested Feather Wing. Prepare him through the VIP channel.โ€

    โ€œBut heโ€™s with another patronโ€”โ€

    โ€œThis is a blackโ€‘card guest!โ€

    โ€œโ€”Understood! Sending them now.โ€

By the time Chi Yao reached the eightโ€‘floor lobby, Yu Yi already waited: dolled up, face exquisite, a tiny beauty mark by his left eye making him dangerously alluring.

Tall for an omega; shoulder height came to Chi Yaoโ€™s nose.

โ€œGege, first time at Lure Club? Iโ€™m your little Feather Wing~โ€ Yu Yi cooed, wrapping his arm around Chi Yaoโ€™s. โ€œWhat should I call you?โ€

Chi Yao shoved one hand in his pocket, walking in calmly with Yu Yi clinging. โ€œSurname Chi. Given nameโ€”Yaoyao.โ€

The omega froze midโ€‘step. His knees buckled.

Chi Yao caught his waist, looking down with mockery. โ€œI havenโ€™t even done anything, and youโ€™re weak at the knees already?โ€

Yu Yi: โ€ฆthis man was a veteran.

The attendant ushered them into a lavish suite, whispering nervously, โ€œFeather Wing only offers companionship. If you require, we can arrange someone else for other services.โ€

With an arm around Yu Yiโ€™s waist, Chi Yao waved him off. โ€œSave it. Nothing else interests me.โ€

    The door shut.

    Lights dim and heavy.

    Yu Yi began, โ€œBossโ€”โ€

โ€œLittle Wolf Head,โ€ Chi Yao interrupted.

    [Online.]

The AI answered as the suite lights blinked, cameras dying.

Eyes wide, Yu Yi gasped. โ€œEven that lamp was AIโ€‘linked?!โ€

Chi Yao dropped onto the couch, sighing at how uncomfortably soft it was compared to his enemyโ€™s.

โ€œStill as clumsy as ever,โ€ he muttered.

The young omega pouted but obediently stood, listening.

โ€œLast request to the Old Manโ€”whatโ€™s the result?โ€ Chi Yao asked.

โ€œIntel says ten casinos demanded levelโ€‘four ore recently. Only one is making transactions now.โ€

    โ€œAccurate?โ€

โ€œVery. One of my patrons won big, cashed his chips for ore. He told me personally.โ€

Casino ore. Underground deals. Risky. Profitable.

    โ€œWhich casino?โ€

    โ€œJuhao.โ€

On the eighth floorโ€™s main hall, music pounded, shadows writhing under garish lights.

At the bar, Jing Xi scanned calmly across the crowdโ€”saw nothing suspicious.

    โ€œAlone?โ€ a voice asked.

He turned. A flashy beta in diamondโ€‘studded shirt cuffs and a limitedโ€‘edition watch sat beside him, dripping wealth.

The man ordered him a vodka.
    โ€œWhereโ€™s your companion?โ€

Jing Xiโ€™s pale hand hovered over the glass.
    โ€œGone. Bored of them.โ€

The beta smirked knowingly. โ€œTire of one? Replace.โ€

Jing Xi tapped the rim of his glass slowly. โ€œIโ€™d prefer aโ€ฆ riskier gamble. Heard Juhao has the best.โ€

The spotlight glinted on crystal, casting dance of light across his long, white fingers.

The betaโ€™s gaze locked there helplessly. โ€œโ€ฆGamblingโ€™s gambling. What difference?โ€

โ€œI prefer excitement,โ€ Jing Xi said softly. โ€œMy friend couldnโ€™t bring me. You have a way in?โ€

Underground casinos barred newcomers unless escorted. Jing Xi needed inside to track his lead.

The betaโ€™s eyes glazed. โ€œIโ€ฆ no. Canโ€™t afford Juhao membership. Clothes are rentals.โ€

    Jing Xi: โ€œโ€ฆโ€

Before he could probe further, a familiar face distracted himโ€”Chi Yao, disguised, arm around a courtesan, laughing like sin itself.

    Crack.

The sound snapped the beta out of daze. Confusedโ€”why couldnโ€™t he recall the last few minutes? Had he been drugged? He bristled in suspicion, but Jing Xi was already walking away.

He tried to block him. โ€œWhat did you do to me?!โ€

Jing Xi set down his glass with quiet finality. โ€œYour drinkโ€™s on me.โ€

Then crack!โ€”the glass in his hand shattered into shards under his fingers.

The betaโ€™s Adamโ€™s apple bobbed in terror. Did he just crush it barehanded?!

The bartender gasped, โ€œSir, broken glass must be compensated!โ€

When Jing Xi ignored him, he called security.

Armed enforcers with shock batons closed in. โ€œYouโ€™re breaking rules here, kid. Donโ€™t think youโ€™re walking out!โ€

    Thenโ€” โ€œWhatโ€™s happening?โ€

Chi Yao approached with Yu Yi still at his side.

The bartender rushed to explain. โ€œThis guest wanted brought into Juhao. When refused, he smashed my glass! Iโ€”I canโ€™t pay for it!โ€

Chi Yaoโ€™s eyes flicked across the shards. He smiled faintly. Not for that reason, surely. Still, his mood lifted.

The Major General, threeโ€‘andโ€‘aโ€‘half credits to his name, treating a glass like priceless treasure.

โ€œIโ€™ll pay for it,โ€ Chi Yao said lazily.

โ€œItโ€™s not about moneyโ€”โ€ security began.

โ€œEnough.โ€ Yu Yi cut him off sharply. โ€œHave some sense. Do you want to offend a patron?โ€

Security paled. Yu Yi was the clubโ€™s crown jewel. Upsetting his guest spelled ruin. They bowed and scattered.

Chi Yao slung an arm over Jing Xiโ€™s shoulder, teasing. โ€œCome now, donโ€™t sulk. Iโ€™ll buy you a drink.โ€

Jing Xi caught his wrist coldly, eyes flashing. The same arm that had been around an omega, now daring to touch him?

Watching, Yu Yiโ€™s gossiping instincts blazed.

Wait wait waitโ€”his bossโ€™s demeanor toward this one was very different.

โ€œBoss, this gentleman isโ€ฆ?โ€ he couldnโ€™t resist asking.

Chi Yao met Jing Xiโ€™s cutting glare and smiled with reckless ease.

    โ€œMy brother,โ€ he said.

Then, grinning wider: โ€œThe kind of brother who knows his body very, very well.โ€

    Yu Yi: โ€œ!!!โ€

Holy shit. Had he just stumbled onto something monumental?!
