He Is Constantly Jealous Of Himself

JOH CH42: I Cucked Myself

When the two arrived at the hospital, Su Yiran entered the outpatient building and immediately caught the unmistakable scent of hospital disinfectant. He wrinkled his nose slightly, feeling a bit of tightness in his chest from the smell.

Gu Yuanting had been watching him closely. As soon as he saw his face turn pale, he became anxious. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

Su Yiran shook his head. “It’s nothing. The disinfectant smell here is just really strong.”

“Strong smell?” Gu Yuanting sniffed the air. The disinfectant smell was actually quite faint, barely noticeable.

He grew worried. “Come on, let’s get you checked out first.” He insisted on having Su Yiran examined immediately.

As they walked down the hospital corridor, the smell seemed to intensify for Su Yiran. After a while, he began to feel nauseous. He clutched his chest, his face turning pale.

“Ranran,” Gu Yuanting rushed to support him, “what’s wrong? Chest pain?”

“No,” Su Yiran waved him off, “just a bit of pressure.”

He crouched beside a trash can, dry heaving twice, though nothing came out—just overwhelming nausea.

Gu Yuanting quickly led him to the specialist he had already scheduled.

Once inside the doctor’s office, the physician began with a few questions: “Just backache? How long has it been?”

“About ten days,” Su Yiran replied.

“Is it mild soreness or actual pain?”

“Just soreness. A bit uncomfortable.”

“Any other symptoms?”

Su Yiran thought for a moment, then shook his head. “No.”

Gu Yuanting added, “He just said the smell of disinfectant is overwhelming. He felt chest pressure and dry-heaved twice.”

“Dry heaving?” The doctor, who had been writing notes, looked up and paused. He asked Su Yiran to lie down for a physical exam.

Su Yiran obeyed, lying on the examination bed. The doctor, after donning gloves, began pressing on his waist and abdomen. Pressing on the waist was fine, but when he pressed the lower belly, Su Yiran involuntarily flinched. “That feels uncomfortable.”

Gu Yuanting took a step forward, alarmed, but refrained from interrupting.

The doctor withdrew his hands, already forming a suspicion, though he couldn’t confirm it yet. He removed his gloves and handed over several test slips. “We can’t make a diagnosis yet. You’ll need some lab work and a blood test.”

Gu Yuanting’s heart sank. He said nothing, just carefully helped Su Yiran down from the exam table and accompanied him through a series of tests.

Thanks to Gu Yuanting’s connections, they didn’t need to wait in line and quickly completed all the examinations.

“The results will take about two hours,” the doctor told them. “Come back this afternoon.”

Su Yiran didn’t think much of it. He assumed he was just exhausted. He only came for peace of mind—for Gu Yuanting’s sake. Hearing they had time to spare, he decided to take Gu Yuanting to check on his own injury and see if the stitches could be removed.

They went to another department. During the wait, Gu Yuanting had his stitches taken out. It was a minor wound, so it only took a few minutes.

Su Yiran asked the doctor detailed questions about post-removal care and only relaxed after making sure he understood everything.

Watching how concerned Su Yiran was, Gu Yuanting felt warm inside.

After lunch at a nearby restaurant, just as they finished eating, Gu Yuanting received a call. It was the doctor.

“The results are in. Please come back—right away.”

The tone was off, almost as if something unexpected had happened. Gu Yuanting’s heart clenched. He immediately brought Su Yiran back to the doctor’s office.

When they walked in, the doctor was smiling, putting aside what he had been doing. Seeing the doctor’s smile, Gu Yuanting exhaled in relief.

The doctor handed them the lab report. “Congratulations!”

Gu Yuanting glanced at the blood test results, trying to make sense of them. Then he heard the doctor say, “You’re pregnant.”

“???” Su Yiran’s brain short-circuited. “What?”

Gu Yuanting jerked his head up, eyes locked on the doctor, as if struck by lightning. “What did you say?!”

The doctor, seeing their shocked expressions, smiled kindly. “Male pregnancy is rare, but not unheard of. We see a few dozen cases in the country each year. Based on your test results—you’re definitely pregnant.”

Su Yiran hadn’t fully processed it. Pregnant? Him?

Had he misunderstood the world he’d traveled to? He always thought it was similar to his past life. Turns out it had sci-fi elements? Male pregnancy?

He looked at the doctor, who seemed completely serious. There was no reason for a doctor to joke about something like this.

He instinctively touched his abdomen, then quickly pulled his hand away like he’d been burned. Pregnant?

Gu Yuanting also realized this wasn’t a joke. He stared at the lab report in his trembling hand. Then, he caught a glimpse of the green scarf wrapped around his neck.

Gu Yuanting: “…”

Ranran was pregnant—with the original host’s child.

His Ranran was carrying someone else’s baby.

Gu Yuanting felt like his head was about to explode. It was like a sizzling pressure cooker. He was panting, nearly hyperventilating.

Seeing his strange reaction, Su Yiran asked, “Ting-ge?”

The doctor also glanced at Gu Yuanting with suspicion. Even for a male pregnancy, this wasn’t the typical reaction to hearing your partner is carrying your child.

Gu Yuanting snapped back to reality, remembering Su Yiran’s current condition. He couldn’t frighten him. He forced himself to breathe deeply and rasped out, “I’m fine.”

The doctor thought he understood. “Overwhelmed with joy, huh? Totally normal.”

Gu Yuanting: “…”

The doctor asked, “When was your last time being intimate?”

Gu Yuanting subconsciously began counting in his head… then froze.

He had no right to calculate that.

Su Yiran took the lab report and glanced at it—completely unintelligible. At the doctor’s question, he tried to recall, “Around October 25th or 26th, I think.”

Thinking back, that night Gu Yuanting had been unusually intense. Then he vanished the entire next day.

October 25th or 26th? That was just before Gu Yuanting had transmigrated.

Just two days off.

Gu Yuanting clenched his fists. But even if the timing were exact, he couldn’t have been the one to get Su Yiran pregnant.

The doctor nodded. “The timeline checks out. You’re over two months along.”

“But I’ve only felt some back pain—no other symptoms,” Su Yiran said, confused.

The doctor replied, “It varies by person. Some pregnant individuals feel nothing unusual. Everyone’s body reacts differently, and symptoms change with each trimester.”

Su Yiran couldn’t argue with that.

The doctor led them to another room for further examination. Gu Yuanting helped Su Yiran lie down gently. The dark green scarf around his neck shifted with every movement. When Su Yiran was settled, Gu Yuanting suddenly ripped the scarf off and threw it into a corner.

Su Yiran thought he was just hot and didn’t give it much thought.

The doctor conducted an ultrasound and pointed to the screen. Su Yiran turned his head and saw a tiny embryonic bud, gently pulsating with life.

This time, he couldn’t deny it. The feeling was strange, unbelievable, and… oddly miraculous.

He looked at Gu Yuanting. “Ting-ge?”

Gu Yuanting forced a soft, reassuring smile. “What is it, Ranran?”

Su Yiran turned back to the screen, dazed. “Do we… really have a baby now? Is this our baby?”

Gu Yuanting: “…Yes.”

He stared at the small shape on the screen, unmoving.

Dark thoughts surged in Gu Yuanting’s mind—but he couldn’t act on them.

He rejected the thing inside Su Yiran, refused to acknowledge it.

The doctor finished a few more checks and said with relief, “The fetus is developing well. You’re very lucky. Would you like to hear the heartbeat?”

Su Yiran nodded. The doctor handed him the stethoscope, and he heard the steady, rhythmic double beats, like a fast-ticking clock. His own heart sped up in sync.

He called out, “Ting-ge, come listen!”

Gu Yuanting had no choice but to comply. He leaned over and heard the strong, regular heartbeat.

Gu Yuanting: “…”

He was consumed with hatred and jealousy toward the original host. He felt like he was about to explode—but couldn’t show it in front of Su Yiran.

Once the exam was over, he helped Su Yiran sit up and redress him, then told him to wait while he used the restroom.

In the bathroom, staring at his reflection, Gu Yuanting punched the sink in a fit of rage.

Back in the room, Su Yiran sat there in a daze. He gently touched his belly again, still unable to believe it.

When Gu Yuanting returned, his hair was damp. Su Yiran asked, “Did you wash your face?”

“Yeah.” Gu Yuanting nodded. His emotions were now buried deep beneath a fragile calm.

He looked at Su Yiran and felt a wild desire—to kiss him, tear his clothes off, take him hard.

But he couldn’t.

Gu Yuanting oscillated between restraint and rejection, always mindful not to endanger Su Yiran. They returned to the doctor’s office for further instructions. Though he had memorized everything, Gu Yuanting still wrote everything down meticulously.

When Su Yiran heard the doctor mention something, he grew tense. “I had dental anesthesia and painkillers last month.”

The doctor frowned. “Do you recall the exact date?”

Su Yiran couldn’t remember clearly, but Gu Yuanting did. “November 16th, at night.”

The doctor relaxed. “Medications within the first month usually aren’t a concern. Besides, we’ve confirmed the fetus is healthy. Just remember to take folic acid and attend regular checkups.”

Su Yiran finally relaxed. Gu Yuanting continued asking detailed questions and wrote everything down carefully.

By the time everything was finished, it was already past 4 PM. As they left the hospital, Su Yiran suddenly realized, “Your scarf! You left it in the room!”

Gu Yuanting: “…”

He struggled to keep calm. “We’re already outside. Let it go. Let’s go home.”

Su Yiran shook his head. “It still cost money. We can’t just toss it.” Even now, though he knew Gu Yuanting’s true identity, he hadn’t mentally adjusted—still treating them like a regular couple with a modest income.

He dragged Gu Yuanting back to retrieve it.

Back in the room, Su Yiran made Gu Yuanting lower his head so he could carefully rewrap the scarf around his neck.

The deep green scarf was so dark, it was practically black.

Gu Yuanting stared at it: “…”

His just-recovered composure was about to shatter again.
