MWITA CH111
After a day of flying, Rong Shi and Song Yu arrived at the Andromeda Military Space Station, waiting to rendezvous with the Second Legion.
In the VIP waiting room, Rong Shi set down his heavy backpack and sat on the sofa. “They’ll probably arrive in about an hour.”
Song Yu casually tossed his backpack next to Rong Shi’s and sat on the low table in front of Rong Shi. Their long legs had nowhere to go, knees touching knees.
“The Second Legion’s commander, Jin Dazhao, came from a grassroots background. He’s not considered outstanding among his peers. When he enlisted, no one wanted him, so he diligently accumulated military merits to climb to his current position,” Song Yu explained, fearing Rong Shi might not understand the situation. “He’s very stubborn, doesn’t like to form cliques. To me, he’s neither enemy nor friend.”
“Hmm,” Rong Shi pulled out several military knives from his bag and opened them for inspection. “As long as he’s not an enemy, it’s fine.”
“But he’s not one of the Qian faction either,” Song Yu mused, subconsciously playing with his ring. “Don’t you think Qian Li’s arrangements this time feel a bit out of place?”
As soon as they found out about V99, they were sent to V99 with the army. If the commanding army was led by the Qian faction, it could be explained as them getting a free ride to accumulate military merits. But now, that reason doesn’t hold water. It’s as if this legion was chosen specifically for them to go to V99.
Rong Shi: “No matter his purpose, at least it’s convenient for our investigation.”
Song Yu looked up and met his gaze: “What if Qian Li is setting a trap for us? Why do you trust him so much? Because of Qian Fan?” Qian Fan happened to be Rong Guang’s homeroom teacher during his year. Song Yu knew Rong Guang’s file by heart after several investigations.
“Quite the opposite, Qian Li trusts me because of Elder Qian,” Rong Shi spun a military knife to test its feel. “And so far, the Qian family has no reason to harm us.”
Song Yu frowned in confusion: “Do you think Qian Li wants to recruit you because Qian Fan is pulling strings?”
The military knife spun twice between Rong Shi’s fingers and stopped. He looked at Song Yu: “I can’t find any other reason.”
Song Yu thought for a moment, then put the question aside. Regardless, they definitely had to go to V99.
“Don’t worry.” Seeing Song Yu frown, Rong Shi reached out and ruffled his hair. “I’ve got everything covered.”
An hour later, the Second Legion’s fleet arrived at the space station, and the main hall immediately became lively. Hearing the commotion, the two were about to find the person in charge to report when the VIP room door was pushed open.
A Beta wearing a military uniform with a sergeant’s epaulets entered. “Oh, so it’s you two?” Lin Biao squinted at them. “I thought you were something special, but you’re just like this, huh?”
Every word was barbed, practically screaming provocation.
“Oh, is this what an officer is like?” Song Yu retorted casually. “No different from a vagrant on the street.”
“You—!” To compare a noble officer to a vagrant?! Lin Biao’s face instantly changed. “You ill-mannered brat! Apologize to this old man!”
“Old man? Just you?” Song Yu sneered. “If I call you an old man, do you dare to answer?” With Rong Shi by his side, Song Yu was in a good mood and uncharacteristically said a few more words. If it were in the past, this person would have already been thrown into outer space by him.
“I dare to answer even if you call me grandpa!” Lin Biao rushed in, ready to give the two students a harsh lesson. His rank was low; he was always bullied in the legion. Only when military academy students came did they obediently let him bully them and do his bidding.
Just as he was speaking, another Beta entered from outside, dressed in a lieutenant’s uniform. Without a word, he slapped Lin Biao on the head.
“Are you a damn thug?” Qing Song gritted his back teeth, snarling in a low voice. “How many times have I warned you not to bully new recruits!”
Lin Biao, who had just been so aggressive, immediately wilted. “I didn’t, I just came to see—” He half-heartedly argued, then noticed Qing Song’s gaze and immediately cowered. “Yes! Sir!”
“Scram!” Qing Song kicked him. Only after the person left did he walk towards Rong Shi and the others. “I’m Qing Song, captain of the Second Legion’s Vanguard Mechanized Unit. I apologize for what just happened.”
Rong Shi had already stood up as he approached. Both sides saluted and then sat down again.
Qing Song: “The legion will rest for half an hour at the space station. I’ll take you to see the commander later.” Military academy students accompanying the army on an expedition needed to report to the commander, who would then assign them to relevant departments for training.
After exchanging greetings, Qing Song led them out to familiarize themselves with the legion’s environment. “For the next three months, you will be part of the legion. You must adjust your mindset quickly. The standards from school won’t apply here in the legion.”
This was Song Yu’s first time entering a legion as an intern. With a different identity, his perspective on issues also changed. There were very few Omegas in the legion, and even if there were, most were in logistics departments and generally did not interact with Alphas. The rough soldiers had no inhibitions and didn’t bother to conceal their pheromones much.
Song Yu subtly moved closer to Rong Shi, his face looking unwell. The entire room reeked of Alpha pheromones; it was disgusting. Rong Shi noticed his expression and was about to ask what was wrong when three Alphas suddenly approached them.
“Lieutenant Qing!” The tallest Alpha saluted Qing Song, then looked at Rong Shi. “I’ve wanted to spar with you ever since I watched the league video. How about it, do you have time for a match now?”
“Yeah, we’ll be together for several months, let’s build some rapport,” the Alpha on the left chimed in.
Qing Song did not stop them; he simply watched quietly, his peripheral vision noting the changes in Rong Shi’s expression. It was unheard of for a first-year student to get an assignment to a Level 4 danger zone. They were clearly favored by heaven. Almost all, if not 90%, of the legion members were graduates of the Central Military Academy and had experienced long periods without mission opportunities. Now, encountering a favored child, it would be unthinkable not to bully them a little.
Song Yu’s peripheral vision swept over Qing Song, knowing he wouldn’t interfere, and prepared to decline for Rong Shi.
“Alright,” Rong Shi suddenly spoke.
Song Yu was stunned; he actually agreed? The others were equally surprised. Most people in the military often paid attention to the dynamics in the military academy, and those top students were often subjects of their after-dinner discussions. Especially Rong Shi, he was simply too famous! Almost no one didn’t know him.
He actually accepted the challenge? Was he too confident or too ignorant?
The three Alphas and the eavesdroppers nearby all felt that Rong Shi was getting too ahead of himself. Coming here for the first time, why didn’t he know to be more discreet?
The space station was not equipped with a training room. Rong Shi handed his backpack to Song Yu, saying indifferently, “Hold this for me.”
The others watched, incredulous. This guy actually wanted to fight right here? Too arrogant! Did he really think they would go easy on him?!
Rong Shi looked at the three Alphas: “Let’s make this quick, we still have to report.”
The three Alphas: “…Damn it! This kid!”
The soldiers resting in the space station gradually gathered around.
“They’re clashing as soon as they arrive.”
“Hmph, so tender-skinned, better be gentle, hahahaha.”
“The last student who dared to provoke like this cried for a long time, hahahaha.”
“He’s Rong Shi, he should be able to last two more minutes, right?”
“Old Lin just loves doing this, unnecessarily dampening kids’ confidence.”
“That Song Yu next to him, he’s even prettier in person than in pictures. Let’s have some fun with him tonight, heheh—”
An Alpha with a pockmarked face stood among a group of soldiers, his eyes leering at Song Yu, smiling maliciously. The others nearby heard him and immediately joined in with crude remarks.
The pockmarked guy laughed uninhibitedly, when suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Rong Shi walking towards him. The next moment, a sharp pain shot through his shoulder. He spun in the air once and landed heavily.
“Ah—! Hiss! Damn n—” He screamed, curling up and rolling on the ground. Before he could even utter a full curse, he was yanked up by the collar of his shirt.
Everyone else’s eyes widened, seeing Rong Shi effortlessly lift him with one hand, his toes barely touching the ground, and casually hurl him against the wall.
“Ugh—!” The pockmarked guy’s spine took another heavy blow from the wall, rolling down, completely dazed from the impact.
It all happened in less than ten seconds. Rong Shi threw him so hard he couldn’t get up. The onlookers’ faces changed.
Rong Shi clenched his fingers, his knuckles cracking. His cold gaze swept over the Alpha on the ground, then turned to the group who had been making crude remarks: “Anyone else want to ‘play’ with my companion? Step forward.”
Despite being a student who had just entered the academy not long ago, only eighteen years old, many people instantly felt intimidated when meeting his gaze. This new recruit was truly different from others!
The noisy hall suddenly fell silent. The others looked towards the few people Rong Shi was staring at, waiting for a show. But after two minutes, no one dared to step forward.
Song Yu stood by, holding Rong Shi’s backpack, a slight smile playing on his lips. He was in a good mood. His bunny protecting him like that was incredibly cute.
Rong Shi said nothing more, turning his head to look at the three Alphas who had initially wanted to spar with him. “My apologies for the slight delay, let’s begin now.”
The three Alphas’ gazes involuntarily shifted to the Alpha on the ground, and they suddenly felt a pang of regret. Damn it, winning this isn’t glorious, but losing would be utterly humiliating. But now, they were in too deep, with so many people watching.
The tallest Alpha stepped forward two paces, stretched his neck, rubbed his wrists, and took a sparring stance: “Come on.” He refused to believe he couldn’t beat a little kid. He wanted to strike first, launching a tricky combination punch. Fast, ruthless, guaranteed to take down Rong Shi in one move.
“Damn it! He’s not dodging?!”
“Old Lin’s hand is caught! Damn it! Instant kill?!”
“Holy crap!”
“What just happened?!”
The Alpha named Old Lin’s fists pounded towards Rong Shi’s head. Rong Shi raised his hand, seized the opponent’s wrist, pulled him down, used the momentum to roll sideways, and swept his long leg across. Old Lin’s arm was halfway back when he received a heavy blow to the neck, sending him directly to the ground with no room to fight back. Rong Shi, with just one move, knocked him down.
Amidst gasps from the surrounding crowd, Rong Shi looked at the remaining two Alphas, extended his hand towards them, palm up, in an inviting gesture: “Please, seniors, enlighten me.”
The two Alphas: “…”
The two conferred. Winning ingloriously was better than losing. Their eyes hardened, and they attacked Rong Shi together. Rong Shi calmly dodged sideways, then suddenly seized both their wrists simultaneously. Using the force from their own attacks, he smoothly pulled them together. The two powerfully built Alphas collided head-on with a bang, nearly passing out on the spot.
Rong Shi released his hands, his expression cold, his voice low: “Both of you, your punches are weak, your stances are unstable, and your reaction speed is very slow. To instruct me in such a poor state, are you looking down on me?”
The three Alphas: one was in too much pain to move, the other two were dazed, almost concussed, completely unable to get up. Hearing this, they almost spat blood in anger. They were instantly defeated and then humiliated!
Old Lin, lying on the ground, cursed: “I’ll kill you!” The other two Alphas were not to be outdone, vying to spout threats.
“Don’t flatter yourself too much!”
“Do you think this is the military academy? You don’t know what’s good for you!”
Qing Song’s approving gaze swept over Rong Shi. Seeing that it was almost time, he stepped in to mediate. “Alright, if you can’t beat him, you can’t beat him. Just admit defeat and go back to training. Don’t you dare embarrass me!” He looked at Rong Shi: “Let’s go, I’ll take you to see the commander.”
Rong Shi took the backpack from Song Yu’s hand, and together they followed Qing Song towards the boarding gate. Song Yu walked beside him, his hand, hanging by his side, subtly reaching out. His pinky finger gently hooked Rong Shi’s, and he smiled: “You look so handsome defending me.”
Rong Shi quietly hooked his finger back, saying in a low voice, “If I didn’t act fast, I was afraid you’d kill someone.”
Song Yu: “…” Would it kill you to say something nice?
Qing Song, walking ahead: “…” Public displays of affection are prohibited in the legion!
Author’s Note:
Song Cat: My bunny helped me beat up the hooligans, he must be head-over-heels in love with me. [Happily rolls around]
Rong Bunny: I was just afraid of a fatality—
Song Cat: Hmm? [Shows claws]
Rong Tu Tu: …Head-over-heels in love.
