MWITA CH35
With less than two hours left until the assessment ended, Rong Shi threw the evidence to Xu Feng and left with Song Yu.
Xu Feng immediately had the child taken to the infirmary and told the two still-fuming parents and Chen Xiao’s father and son to go to his office.
As soon as they saw Rong Shi and Song Yu leave, they became arrogant again, pounding on the table and threatening to sue the school.
“Is this how your school is managed?! Allowing children to be bullied by outsiders?!”
“I’m telling you now, if there’s no public apology, I’ll sue until I’m bankrupt!”
Xu Feng gestured for the two parents to calm down: “You’re free to sue however you wish, but before that, we need to deal with this matter.”
He looked at Chen Xiao’s father, who had been sitting there silently: “Mr. Chen, don’t you have anything to say?”
Hearing this, both parents looked over.
Song Yu was indeed detestable, but if Chen Xiao hadn’t instigated their children to do bad things, it wouldn’t have turned out this way!
Mr. Chen hugged his child, acting as if it had nothing to do with him: “This matter has nothing to do with my child. I have nothing to say.”
His words plunged the scene back into chaos.
When Rong Shi and Song Yu returned to the examination hall, Qian Fan was walking out, his face very grim.
“What’s so important that you had to leave during the assessment?!” Qian Fan was so angry he forgot his thermos.
Song Yu’s gaze swept over Rong Shi’s face, and he returned to the examination hall without a word.
Rong Shi: “My brother had a bit of a situation.”
Thinking they had deliberately run off to play because they were failing the exam, Qian Fan’s expression changed.
“Alright, I’ve talked to the invigilator. Hurry back and take the exam.”
After personally seeing them return to their seats, Qian Fan opened his terminal and sent a message to Xu Feng.
“Xu Feng, what’s the situation with Rong Mianmian—”
Logging into the simulated combat system, the two appeared simultaneously in the preparation zone.
Since everyone else was already on the battlefield, only the two of them were there.
Having rushed back halfway through handling the situation, Song Yu was in a bad mood, twirling the military knife in his hand agitatedly.
“Do you know who did it?”
Rong Shi picked up a military knife and a pistol from the many discarded weapons.
“I know.”
Song Yu: “Who?”
That basin of water splashed on Cola was the same as if it had been splashed on him.
He never showed mercy to such blatant provocations.
“If I tell you, will you beat them half to death again?” Rong Shi took his items and walked out.
Song Yu sneered: “What, is Chairman Rong going to persuade me to mend my ways?”
Rong Shi: “Fighting doesn’t solve problems.”
Song Yu was about to mock him when he heard him continue: “However, some people won’t learn unless they’re beaten.”
Stepping out of the preparation zone, they found themselves in a wilderness, with a river dozens of meters wide traversing the entire map, and dense reeds along the riverbank growing taller than a person.
Rong Shi scanned his surroundings and easily discerned the direction the main group had taken.
The two activated acceleration mode, chasing at ten times the speed.
Beast carcasses appeared sporadically around them, and noisy sounds emanated from the reed beds ahead.
“Right, right!”
“At least three wild boars at nine o’clock! Damn, they’re second-tier mutated!”
“Retreat! Hide in the bushes!”
Rong Shi identified the sounds and moved quickly through the reeds.
Song Yu followed behind him, wanting to see what he would do.
Pushing aside the outermost layer of reeds, the view suddenly opened up. By the river ten meters away, a small team of about ten people was being besieged by giant wild boars.
Rong Shi spotted Zhang Yi almost immediately.
In simulated combat, various levels of beasts would be randomly spawned. The higher the level, the larger the size, and the stronger the destructive power.
For beasts like wild boars, which are inherently aggressive, their aggressiveness would be exponentially enhanced after mutation.
After a month of intensive training, it wasn’t too difficult for the students to deal with a few second-tier wild boars, as long as they were careful not to be gored by the boars’ tusks.
Lu Ming commanded loudly, “Don’t stand directly in front of the wild boars!”
The ten or so students constantly shifted positions, their gunfire almost continuous.
But they had vastly underestimated the number of wild boars.
The rustling in the reeds never stopped, and wild boars kept rushing out, including even a third-tier mutated one, twice the size of a second-tier mutant!
“No, we can’t win!”
“Should we retreat the way we came?!”
“There are wild boars there too! Our only way out is through the water!”
“Who knows what’s in the water, do you dare go down?!”
Song Yu squatted beside Rong Shi, smiling casually: “How long are you going to watch?”
Rong Shi observed the situation over there, not responding.
The terrain here was slightly higher, allowing them to clearly see the movement in the reed bed behind them.
Song Yu casually analyzed: “At the speed those wild boars are running, if they don’t retreat within a minute, they’ll likely be completely wiped out.”
As soon as his voice fell, Rong Shi pushed aside the reeds and walked out.
Song Yu: “Are you going to save them?”
Rong Shi tightened his grip on the military knife and didn’t look back: “If they all die, what will we play?”
Song Yu was startled, the smile on his lips deepening: “So you can speak human language?”
–
The number of wild boars grew, and in the blink of an eye, there was truly no retreat except through the water.
“Damn it! To be eliminated in just over an hour, our score will definitely be at the bottom!”
“Such bad luck!”
“A third-tier beast’s score is 20 times that of a second-tier beast! If we win, our score will definitely be among the top few!”
After the wild boar group reached a certain number, they launched a collective attack.
Roars accompanied gunshots, and the battlefield became chaotic. They were forced to retreat repeatedly, half their legs submerged in the river.
Lu Ming couldn’t even protect himself, let alone coordinate. Everyone was fending for themselves.
The roar of the third-tier wild boar was terrifying. The threat of death made their bodies stiffen with fear, and their fingers trembled on the triggers.
Finally, a beta was pierced by the tusks of the third-tier beast, lifted into the air, and blood splattered everywhere!
At the same time, this student’s assessment ended prematurely.
This bloody scene became the final straw that broke the team members.
“Damn it, I forfeit! I don’t want to be gored by a wild boar’s tusks!”
“I, I forfeit too, damn it!”
Watching the third-tier beast charge at them, they frantically tried to click “submit early,” but the more they panicked, the harder it was to hit.
Suddenly, a dark shadow flashed before their eyes. The third-tier wild boar roared and fell to the ground, kicking up huge splashes of water.
The wild boar’s blood splattered on their faces. Through their blurry vision, they saw a person holding a blood-stained military knife standing on the riverbank.
Who else could it be but the old slacker Rong Shi?!
“Holy crap!”
“One-shot, one-kill?!”
“B-big shot is really a big shot?!”
They were so excited they became incoherent, and their perception of Rong Shi reached new heights.
Over the past month, Rong Shi had barely attended practical combat training classes, and even when he did, he was perfunctory.
His physical fitness was just barely passing, his marksmanship was subpar, and he never sparred with anyone in combat class. Nothing seemed to pique his interest.
Many secretly doubted if he truly lacked any real ability.
After all, good commanding skills only meant a good brain, good theoretical scores only meant he was good at studying, and being good at simulated mecha combat could just be due to good memory. As long as you memorized enough keybindings and combos, it was easy to perform well.
In a military academy where martial prowess was paramount, what was truly popular was strong individual combat capability. That’s why someone like Jiang Xingze, despite his character, still had many admirers.
In short, whoever was good at fighting was the boss; everything else was superficial.
__
Rong Shi leaped off the wild boar and landed steadily. The military knife in his hand flew in another direction.
The military knife struck a second-tier wild boar that was charging.
The intense pain caused its body to twist violently, and it crashed into the wild boar in front of it without regard.
The wild boar in front was knocked off its attack trajectory by the impact, heading straight for Zhang Yi.
Zhang Yi was startled by Rong Shi’s appearance. Before he could react, his body was suddenly sent flying into the air by a collision, falling heavily into the river with a splash.
A sharp pain shot through his back, and cold river water poured into his collar and sleeves. He gritted his teeth and struggled for a long time before surfacing.
Just as he was about to swim to shore, a small splash suddenly erupted on the river surface in front of him. Something brushed past his right leg. Zhang Yi cautiously retreated, instinctively looking forward.
To his surprise, Rong Shi was aiming his gun in their direction.
Did he just shoot?
After this question flashed through his mind, Zhang Yi found his right leg throbbing with increasing pain.
He was hit?!
He was furious beyond words: “Are you trying to kill me, you bastard?!”
“Did you hit your head?” Rong Shi said calmly, “I was shooting at the crocodile that just swam by.”
Saying that, he fired another shot.
The bullet grazed Zhang Yi’s arm and plunged into the water behind him. A bloody scratch quickly appeared on his arm.
Rong Shi added unhurriedly, “But my aim isn’t very good, so don’t move around.”
The others were busy dealing with the remaining second-tier wild boars, only those nearby who heard “crocodile” frantically ran from the water to the riverbank.
“There are crocodiles! Get to shore quickly!”
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!”
“We’re going to be played to death!”
Soon, only Zhang Yi remained in the river, unable to get to shore.
No matter which direction he tried to swim, Rong Shi’s bullets would block him, leaving his arms and legs covered in bloody marks.
The wounds in the cold water were both chilling and painful, and his legs began to cramp and stiffen.
Zhang Yi cursed loudly: “You’re violating the assessment rules! I’m going to report you—”
Before he could finish, another bullet grazed his neck.
A burning pain flared on his neck, and warm liquid trickled down. A cold breeze blew, chilling him to the bone.
“I told you not to move around.”
Despite the threat, Rong Shi’s face remained impassive. He said coldly, “If you accidentally get hit by a bullet, it’ll be you who suffers.”
Someone noticed the situation here but had no time to spare.
Song Yu slowly followed, his gun hitting a charging wild boar, a headshot.
He didn’t bother with the main group of wild boars, only eliminating those that posed a threat to him on his path.
As he reached Rong Shi, he happened to see him throw the spent magazine into the river, take out a new one, insert it, and casually slide the slide.
The movements were practiced and fluid, possessing an inherent beauty.
Song Yu’s gaze lingered on his slender hands for an extra two seconds before he looked at Zhang Yi in the river.
“Is it him?”
After the third-tier wild boar was instantly killed, many other wild boars fled without their leader, and the remaining ones were quickly dealt with by the students.
When they finally breathed a sigh of relief, relieved to be out of danger, they finally noticed Zhang Yi’s situation.
“Why is Rong Shi shooting at Zhang Yi?”
“What’s going on? Zhang Yi has blood all over his neck and arms.”
“I don’t understand, what’s he doing?”
Zhang Yi was almost out of strength, his face pale either from pain or cold.
Seeing that the others had dealt with the wild boars, he shouted loudly: “Rong Shi is trying to kill me! Report him!”
Another bullet grazed Zhang Yi’s arm, leaving a new bloodstain.
Rong Shi: “I’m helping you kill the crocodiles.”
Zhang Yi was so angry that the veins on his neck bulged: “Damn it, whether there are crocodiles or not, I don’t know?!”
The other students exchanged subtle glances, unsure what to say.
“What do you want?” Lu Ming walked over with an unfriendly look. “Please put down your gun immediately!”
Didn’t Rong Shi give up on the assessment? Why was he back? How could he take down a third-tier beast with one slash? How strong was he really?!
These questions flooded Lu Ming’s mind, making him seethe with jealousy.
“Is that really okay?” Rong Shi fired another shot and said calmly, “Are you going to just watch your dog get swallowed by crocodiles?”
“There are no crocodiles at all!” Lu Ming retorted sharply, “I’ll count to three. If you don’t put it down, I’ll report you! Three… two…”
“There really are crocodiles! Oh my god, oh my god!”
Someone yelled that, and everyone’s hair stood on end. They immediately aimed their guns at the river.
A massive object swam under the river surface five meters behind Zhang Yi.
Soon, there was movement under the river surface to his left, then to his right, and in front of him.
Zhang Yi could feel the surging water beneath him, his teeth chattering with fear, his eyes red: “Quick, quick save me! Save me!”
Lu Ming was astonished: “…How could this be?!”
Song Yu watched, a faint smile playing on his lips.
There weren’t any initially, but Zhang Yi’s blood had attracted quite a few.
The water began to churn, and occasionally the backs of crocodiles would break the surface, causing everyone’s hearts to pound in their throats.
Being surrounded by a group of mutated crocodiles in the water, it was absolutely terrifying, wasn’t it?!
Every time Zhang Yi moved, Rong Shi would fire a shot.
Each shot grazed his body, hitting the crocodiles that approached him.
After a magazine was empty, Rong Shi emotionlessly reloaded and continued to shoot.
“Save, save me! Save me!” Zhang Yi’s voice was tearful, and he struggled with all his might in the water.
Compared to the terror of being surrounded by crocodiles, the pain of being hit by bullets was nothing.
His physical strength was rapidly depleting, and both his body and mind were on the verge of collapse.
“How many times do I have to emphasize it?” Rong Shi’s cold voice carried impatience. “My aim isn’t accurate, please don’t move around.”
Song Yu chimed in with a smile: “That’s right, if I accidentally shoot you dead, I’d have reason to suspect you’re deliberately trying to frame my wife, you know.”
He couldn’t return to shore, couldn’t move. If he moved, he would be injured by a bullet and could be torn apart by a crocodile at any moment.
Zhang Yi finally couldn’t bear the immense psychological torment and burst into tears.
Lu Ming gritted his teeth and fired at the crocodiles.
He could be certain that Rong Shi was retaliating!
Teaching his dog a lesson so brazenly right in front of him, completely disregarding him!
The other students dared not shoot the crocodiles close to Zhang Yi, only aiming at those further away.
For a moment, Zhang Yi was bathed in a rain of bullets, shaking like a sieve.
By the time Rong Shi had used up all his ammunition, most of the crocodiles in the river had been dealt with. The once clear river water was stained a large patch of red.
Someone found a very long bamboo pole, and several people exerted great effort to drag Zhang Yi back.
As soon as he got to shore, Zhang Yi collapsed. He had no fatal injuries, but he was so terrified that his teeth chattered and his whole body convulsed.
Lu Ming pointed at the wounds on his body and roared at Rong Shi, “This is all your doing!”
Rong Shi casually threw the empty gun in front of Zhang Yi, making the latter tremble again.
“Compared to being eaten by crocodiles, what are these minor scrapes? If you can’t even endure this, then perhaps you’re not suited for military service.”
Lu Ming: “You—!”
Rong Shi: “Alright, consider me interfering.”
Dropping that indifferent remark, he walked away nonchalantly.
The others thought about what had just happened, their hearts still pounding.
“Yeah, luckily the chairman discovered it in time, otherwise it would really leave a psychological scar.”
“I’ll never dare to go near the river again, it’s so scary!”
“The chairman was also kind-hearted, and his marksmanship is really impressive. I wouldn’t even dare to shoot within a meter of Zhang Yi!”
“Me too! I’m just afraid that if I make a mistake, I’ll—”
Hearing their discussion, Lu Ming’s face turned grim.
Inside Zhang Yi’s torn sleeve, dozens of bloodstains were clearly visible, each spaced identically, not a single bit off.
With such marksmanship, even Jiang Xingze might not be his match!
This realization fueled Lu Ming’s anger even more.
“Chairman Rong truly has a way,” Song Yu said, walking beside Rong Shi. “But you’ve had your fun, what about me?”
Rong Shi looked ahead, his voice faint: “As long as I don’t see it, you can play however you want.”
Song Yu chuckled: “You said it.”
The assessment ended, and everyone emerged from their specialized equipment.
The pain from injuries sustained in the simulated combat gradually disappeared. They stood up, stretched their limbs, and excitedly discussed amongst themselves.
Zhang Yi was still dominated by fear, taking a long time to recover.
It wasn’t until the invigilator reminded them that they could leave the examination hall that he sluggishly stepped out of the equipment.
But just as he took a step out, he was suddenly grabbed by his collar, dragged by a tremendous force towards the outside of the examination hall—
