Li Yunhui’s intrusion was sudden.

The butler and doctor’s conversation was interrupted, and both of them turned their gazes toward Li Yunhui.

The butler frowned and motioned for the doctor to show the thermometer to Li Yunhui, saying, “37.8 degrees. It’s a temperature that will go away with some sleep. What’s the need to rest for a whole day?”

Li Yunhui said with a cold laugh, “So because you’re not the one with the fever, you don’t care?”

Seeing that the two were about to start arguing, the doctor, annoyed by the noise, stepped forward and held them back. “The Little Young Master is still here feeling unwell and waiting to sleep. If you want to argue, do it outside.”

The doctor was strong and managed to hold them both back at once.

Li Yunhui frowned and looked to the side. “Where’s the medicine?” he asked.

The doctor replied, “I haven’t prescribed it yet. There’s no need for fever reducers for such a low-grade fever. I’ll go find a doctor outside to get some Chinese medicine later.”

Li Yunhui was skeptical. “Will that work?”

The doctor retorted, “What else? Alright, alright, Eldest Young Master, move aside. If I don’t go get the medicine soon, the Little Young Master’s fever will be gone by the time I get back.”

Li Yunhui: “…”

With the doctor’s nonsensical interruptions, the butler and Li Yunhui could no longer argue.

Seeing that Li Yunhui was willing to stay in the bedroom and take care of the Little Young Master, the doctor simply took the butler out with him, instructing Li Yunhui to keep an eye on the Little Young Master’s blanket and not let him kick it off again.

Li Yunhui was very unhappy, feeling that both the doctor and the butler were not taking his brother’s low-grade fever seriously enough.

However, he turned around, knelt by the bed, and felt Li Shuyun’s forehead and cheeks. They were warm… okay, the temperature really wasn’t that high. Li Yunhui suspected that if he had a fever this low, it would probably be gone before he even noticed it.

Li Shuyun’s cheeks were flushed from the fever, and he looked very lethargic. He was drowsy and as limp as a pile of cotton, showing no reaction to their earlier argument. Only when Li Yunhui knelt down did Li Shuyun manage to lift his eyelids slightly and whisper, “Brother.”

Li Yunhui pulled a chair over to the side of the bed.

Looking at Li Shuyun’s pitiful state, he thought to himself that he didn’t just look weak, his constitution really was weak.

Li Yunhui rarely did this kind of caretaking work. But every time he thought of how Li Shuyun had been purely and sincerely sneaking food and snacks for him these past few days, his heart would always thump with a warm feeling.

This kind of close, sincere family affection was utterly foreign to him. His mother couldn’t give it to him, and Li Zhenghen certainly never had. It was as if he was being completely charmed by this heaven-sent younger brother. Every time he looked at him, he couldn’t help but want to act more like a “proper brother.”

…But, of course.

As long as he didn’t forget his initial purpose for approaching Li Shuyun and following him home—his grand plan—then what did it matter if he let himself indulge in being a brother for a little while?

So, Li Yunhui tucked in the corners of his brother’s blanket and coaxed, “Don’t talk, just sleep. The sooner you sleep, the sooner the fever will break.”

At around seven o’clock, the doctor returned with a three-day supply of Chinese medicine. When he came back, he was still worried that the Little Young Master’s fever might have already subsided.

But to the surprise of the doctor, and even Li Yunhui, Li Shuyun’s low-grade fever lingered for a full two days. It wasn’t until he woke up on the morning of the third day that his temperature finally returned to normal.

The doctor sighed, “What a weak constitution. Little Young Master, I’ll have to prescribe some more tonics to strengthen his body.”

The butler frowned. “A body this weak won’t do. Starting today, dinner will be delayed by an hour, and we’ll add a half-hour exercise class after the afternoon lessons. I’ll find a teacher for it right away.”

Li Yunhui couldn’t take it anymore and exploded. “Today? His fever just broke, and you’re already scheduling classes for him? You’re even adding more classes??”

The butler said expressionlessly, “Eldest Young Master, Mr. Li specifically instructed me to take good care of the Little Young Master. To do a good job, I must naturally raise the Little Young Master to be an outstanding young master to be able to report back to Mr. Li.”

Li Yunhui said fiercely, “How you report back is none of my business. He’s my brother, and I say no more classes, so no more classes! Shuyun got sick because he was too tired. The schedule absolutely cannot be added to; it can only be replaced and reduced.”

“Also, people get weekends off from school and work. Why does Shuyun have to have a full schedule on weekends too? Today is Saturday. Weekend breaks should start today!”

When Li Yunhui exploded, he was as free and uncontrollable as his hairstyle.

The two of them argued back and forth for a long time.

Beside them, Li Shuyun, having been coaxed by the doctor into drinking a bowl of extremely bitter Chinese medicine, managed to negotiate for two rock sugar cubes (Li Shuyun argued for three, but the doctor refused).

Only then did Li Yunhui, brimming with the air of a victor, finally come before him and say triumphantly, “Let’s go, Shuyun. The weekend starts today. We’re going out for a drive in a bit!”

The butler, exhausted from arguing with him, said coldly, “Eldest Young Master, I only agreed to give the Little Young Master two days off a week. I never said he could go with you to play with those things Mr. Li strictly forbids.”

Li Yunhui instinctively wanted to retort, “Li Zhenghen forbade me, not him, so what right do you have to stop him?” However, the words caught in his throat for a second as he suddenly remembered Li Shuyun’s post-fever body…

…Wasn’t he a little too weak?

Was he really suited to engage in extreme sports with him?

Li Yunhui was momentarily stunned, belatedly realizing this problem.

But he didn’t admit defeat verbally. With a sarcastic laugh, he said, “Uncle Zhao, your prejudice is quite severe. Li Zhenghen won’t let me do extreme sports, but does that mean he won’t let me go out for a drive and get some sun? I’m just taking my brother out for a spin. Did Li Zhenghen forbid that? He didn’t, so what right do you have to?”

This left the butler speechless for a moment. Li Yunhui knew that the butler was extremely loyal to Li Zhenghen, a wall he had failed to breach despite countless attempts over the years.

With these words, Li Yunhui successfully snatched Li Shuyun away.

As soon as Li Yunhui had mentioned going out, Li Shuyun’s eyes had been sparkling in anticipation. The moment they stepped out the main door, he asked his brother expectantly, “Brother, are we going to the racetrack again today?”

Going for a drive and getting some sun—wasn’t that just a nice way of saying they were going to the racetrack to race?

Li Yunhui: “…”

Li Yunhui averted his eyes, not looking directly at his brother’s expectant gaze.

He said in his usual tone, “No, we’re going to check out some other places today.”

Li Shuyun was stunned. His disappointment was visible to the naked eye as his eyebrows drooped. “Why, brother?” he asked.

Li Yunhui looked at his brother, who was just recovering from his illness, and thought to himself, why are extreme sports called extreme sports? Even just participating as a passenger carried risks and had physical requirements!

His plan to lead his brother astray wasn’t that urgent. It wasn’t like he had to take advantage of these two days, unlike the butler. He could wait patiently for a while, until the butler had helped his brother build up some strength, and it would be perfectly fine to take him to play then.

But he was worried that his brother would feel sad or insecure about his poor health, so he coaxed him, “Your fever just broke, you can’t do these kinds of exciting things. There are lots of interesting places in the Imperial Capital besides the racetrack. You haven’t been to them, have you? Today, your brother will take you to see them!”

Hesitant and curious, Li Shuyun was attracted by the “interesting places” his brother mentioned and nodded his head in confusion.

So, for the rest of the day, Li Yunhui took him to a museum, a park in the Imperial Capital, and also to an ice-skating rink. Since Li Shuyun didn’t know how to skate, he held Li Shuyun’s hands from the front and taught him step-by-step how to move on the ice.

This was way more fun than hanging out with his own buddies!

But his brother seemed to lack interest in these activities.

Sure enough, the next day, when Li Yunhui planned to continue taking Li Shuyun out to some safe entertainment venues, Li Shuyun refused.

Li Shuyun was a soft, obedient child. He would only tug on the hem of his brother’s shirt and ask in a pitifully soft voice, “Brother, it’s been a whole day since my fever went away. Can’t I go yet?”

Li Yunhui was never moved by external forces.

He refused firmly. “Not within seven days of recovering from a major illness.”

Disappointed and dejected, Li Shuyun’s eyebrows drooped into a “八” shape. He said aggrievedly, “I don’t feel uncomfortable at all now. I can go, brother. The other places aren’t as interesting.”

Li Shuyun tugged at his shirt hem, calling out softly again and again, “Brother—” “Brother~” “Brother!” “Take me, please.”

Li Shuyun didn’t seem to be intentionally acting cute. But the lilting, twisting end of each call nearly wrapped around Li Yunhui and reeled him in.

Li Yunhui was never moved by external forces. Unless that external force was too devastating.

His resolve wavered. Shaken, he struggled to hold his ground. “No. Even though your fever is gone, your body’s functions definitely haven’t fully recovered. What if your body gets overstimulated and you get sick again? …How about this: today, I’ll play, and you can watch. How about you feast your eyes?”

Seeing that Li Shuyun didn’t look too happy, he added fiercely, “Otherwise, I’m not taking you out at all!”

Li Shuyun: “…”

Li Shuyun was extremely aggrieved. “Then… alright, brother. I’ll just watch you play today.”

Without having to guide Li Shuyun through an experience, Li Yunhui’s options suddenly multiplied. After some deliberation, he enthusiastically chose to take his brother to a cliff for bungee jumping.

Bungee jumping was a great activity. It could satisfy his own craving for thrills and also provide a good show for the spectator.

That is, if it weren’t for Li Shuyun’s devastatingly bright eyes staring at him after he finished his jump and returned to the top of the cliff.

Li Shuyun looked overjoyed.

“Brother, brother, look! This is the video I recorded of you. You look so cool!”

Li Yunhui’s heart bloomed with joy.

“When my seven days are up, when next weekend comes, does that mean I can try bungee jumping too?” Li Shuyun asked.

Li Yunhui’s smile froze.

After bungee jumping, Li Yunhui’s heart was still pounding violently, and the muscles in his waist and legs were noticeably sore. Although bungee jumping didn’t require any skill, it was still an extreme sport with its own set of physical requirements. His brother’s body was so much weaker than his, and he had no prior experience with bungee jumping. This…

As he remained silent, Li Shuyun’s sparkling, expectant gaze slowly dimmed.

He lowered his head and said in a small, aggrieved voice, “Dad won’t let you play, and now you won’t let me play… How can you be like that, brother?”
