The moment he saw Fang Chengyu’s face clearly, the first thought that appeared in Fang Ji’s mind was:

No wonder the other party had managed to pry all his hand-picked brothers and sisters away from him in such a short time!

That excessively fair complexion looked as if he had never seen the sun a day in his life. It looked unhealthy, yet it unexpectedly suited his temperament, like a piece of pure, translucent jade.

As he sat there quietly, he looked like someone who should be held in the palm of the whole world’s hand.

It only took Fang Ji 0.0001 seconds to immediately understand why “Teacher Chengyu’s” name could appear with such high frequency on the campus confession wall shortly after he had joined.

But…

Fang Chengyu.

Putting everything else aside, just based on the fact that the man had cheated him in this peculiar way over a dozen times today, this person’s heart could absolutely not be as gentle and pure as his appearance suggested!

Fang Ji’s brain slowly began to function again.

The moment he calmed down, the anger that had been barely suppressed just a moment ago flared up again.

What appearance? What temperament?

This was clearly a fox demon’s mask!

If it wasn’t intentional, how could Fang Chengyu have so precisely rounded up all of his hand-picked brothers and sisters in such a short time!

A liar… this was definitely a liar!

Fang Chengyu was clearly putting on this appearance deliberately to seduce the people around him, first his hand-picked brothers and sisters, and then his family!

An absurd and unbelievable rage swelled and spread in his chest. Fang Ji could no longer suppress his anger and think about this matter “calmly.”

Expose him.

Expose him.

Expose him!

Let his parents, brother, and sister see the true face of this man they were so warmly entertaining!

Fang Ji’s smile was stiff and fake.

He walked towards Fang Chengyu step by step, his cold and furious gaze nailed directly on him.

Fang Chengyu seemed completely oblivious to this malice.

He curved his eyes gently at Fang Ji and said, “When I was giving my lecture this afternoon, among the hundreds of students there, it seemed like many of them knew Xiao Ji. Xiao Ji is very popular.”

Fang Ji’s heart skipped a beat. Just as he was about to open his mouth, he realized he was too late.

As expected, his brother and sister became interested in the “lecture” Fang Chengyu mentioned, chattering away and asking about his work situation, the topic of his lecture, and the potential for business development in related fields, and so on and so forth…

Fang Ji: “…”

Fang Ji immediately tried to speak: “Fang Chengyu! This afternoon…”

Fang Dad was extremely concerned: “What course does Chengyu plan to teach? What’s the salary? The career development prospects? That’s too low! How about considering working in the family business? The A-continent market currently doesn’t have…”

Fang Ji: “…How did you deliberately take my…”

Fang Mom said softly, “How long until you can become a full-time employee? What are the requirements to be promoted to a full professor? Do you need the family’s support? How many people from our circle are in your class? Observe their potential carefully. If any heir has great potential, Chengyu, remember to report to your father and me regularly…”

Fang Ji: “…What did you promise them!…”

Fang Bro was enthusiastic: “What was Big Brother’s previous family like? What kind of business were they in? How extensive was the business? What’s the current state of that industry in F Country? What’s the market potential? How much would it take to enter the market…”

Fang Ji: “…Dad, Mom, Bro, Sis, this Fang Chengyu is clearly…”

Fang Sis was full of interest: “How did Big Brother’s adoptive parents pass away? How was their inheritance divided? What resources do you have on hand, Big Brother? Have you considered working with our group…”

Fang Ji: “…”

Until the end of dinner, Fang Ji couldn’t find a single opportunity to expose Fang Chengyu’s true face to his family.

To be more precise—

He jangled and clanged for a long time, trying his best to talk to himself and shout for a long while, but his parents, brother, and sister showed no interest at all, so they naturally ignored him.

Fang Ji fiercely bit his chopsticks, his resentful and jealous gaze burning like fire.

He had figured it out completely. The reason his parents and siblings had made a rare trip home together today was entirely for Fang Chengyu!

Throughout the entire dinner, his family’s eyes and attention had never left Fang Chengyu!

Fang. Cheng. Yu.

Hah, what long-lost child?

He wouldn’t believe such a crude scam!

Fang Chengyu must be a scammer from who knows where. He must have gotten inspiration from the situations with the He and Qi families from the past two years, and that’s why he came to their Fang family. He somehow tricked his family, probably even faked a paternity test, all for their Fang family’s fortune!

However, as if guessing his thoughts.

His father, Fang Yecheng, suddenly turned his head and said to him, “By the way, Xiao Ji, the reason I called your brother and sister home this time was firstly for them to meet Chengyu, and secondly, because I was afraid everyone might have doubts about Chengyu’s identity. After all, having an extra person in the family has a considerable impact.”

“So, your mother and I decided to call everyone back together. After dinner, we’ll take you all to the hospital to watch your mother and I do a paternity test with Chengyu. How about it, Xiao Ji, you don’t have anything urgent to do after dinner, right?”

Fang Ji was stunned and subconsciously glanced in Fang Chengyu’s direction.

He saw that Fang Chengyu’s expression was calm, very composed. He had no reaction to his father’s proposal, not even a hint of nervousness.

…Why wasn’t he nervous?

Could it be that he really had the Fang family’s blood flowing in his veins?

Ha, haha, how is that possible?

If Fang Chengyu could steal away all his hand-picked brothers and sisters like that, how could it, how could it not be a deliberate attack against him?

If it was a deliberate attack, then how could he not be a scammer?

…Why wasn’t he nervous yet?!

Fang Ji: “…No.”

Fang Yecheng nodded naturally and turned back to Fang Chengyu. “The Capital Central Hospital can do paternity tests. It’s very close to our house. We’ll go there in a bit.”

Fang Chengyu smiled gently. “No problem, whatever Dad arranges is fine.”

Fang Ji suddenly thought of something and immediately interrupted: “Wait! Dad, why don’t we go to a testing center instead? Although it’s a bit far, they give results faster, and the accuracy is higher!”

Fang Ji didn’t know what he was trying to guard against.

…Was it distrust?

Was he worried the scammer would contact the hospital in advance to tamper with things?

But this was clearly a place his father had suggested…

Fang Ji didn’t know, and he was unwilling to think about it deeply.

He stared intently into Fang Chengyu’s eyes, hoping to see a hint of nervousness or surprise in them.

However, he failed.

Fang Chengyu’s eyes were smiling, his brows softly curved. He showed no opposition to his suggestion. “That’s fine.”

Fang Ji: …

Oh no. Could it be that the testing center had also been infiltrated by him in advance?!

Fang Ji felt this possibility was unlikely.

But the more unlikely it was, the more anxious and uneasy he felt.

They arrived at the testing center in silence.

After completing the procedures, Fang Yecheng asked his three original children with great interest, “Do you guys want to do one?”

Fang Ji was expressionless, his bells not ringing. His heart secretly skipped a beat as he remembered the pitiful He Wenyan who had been kicked out of the He family home, and the pitiful Qi Xiuyi who hadn’t had milk tea for a whole year…

Fang Ji didn’t know what he was nervous about.

He answered without hesitation, “No. What’s there for us to do?”

Fang Yecheng was slightly disappointed. “Oh, okay.”

After the sample collection was done, his parents and siblings, not surprisingly, had no intention of waiting there any longer.

The Fang family’s business had been on the rise in recent years. His father, in charge of the core market in Y-continent; his mother, in charge of the M-continent market; his brother, in charge of the F-continent market; his sister, in charge of the O-continent market… they really had business to attend to.

Without any delay, they each booked a flight and were ready to go back to work.

But before they left, just as when they had first arrived, the one they cared about and greeted was still Fang Chengyu!

Fang Ji’s teeth were about to shatter from grinding them.

But he knew that neither his parents nor his siblings liked people who were brainless, loud, and acted purely on emotion without a shred of calmness.

He could only force a smile and see them off: “Dad, Mom, Bro, Sis, have a safe trip. By the way, are you coming home for the Spring Festival in a few days? This year is Brother Chengyu’s first year back home, after all. Shouldn’t we have a good gathering during the Spring Festival?”

Fang Ji pinched his palm hard, using all his strength to squeeze out the words “Brother Chengyu” from between his teeth.

…Alright. If this reason could persuade his parents and siblings, then he could grudgingly cancel out one of Fang Chengyu’s sins in his heart.

Unfortunately.

Fang Dad: “I’ll definitely try.”

Fang Mom: “We’ll see, we’ll see.”

Fang Bro: “Ah, didn’t we just come back for a gathering?”

Fang Sis: “I have a meeting in A-continent on the morning of New Year’s Day, and another one in O-continent in the afternoon…”

Fang Ji’s already forced smile completely vanished.

He lowered his head and said dejectedly, “Oh, okay. Then, Dad, Mom, Brother, Sister, good luck with your work.”

His parents and siblings acknowledged, and each flew off to work hard.

The moment all four of them left the testing center.

Fang Ji instantly became expressionless, whipped his head around, and his fierce gaze locked onto Fang Chengyu.

With his movement, all the jewelry and bells on his body let out a crisp sound in unison!

Like a declaration of speech, a notice to talk, it instantly interrupted the conversation between Fang Chengyu and the butler.

The two of them looked at him in unison.

Fang Ji strode forward and grabbed Fang Chengyu by the collar.

His movement was fast and powerful. Before Fang Chengyu could finish his surprised “You…”, he was yanked in front of him.

The butler was shocked: “…Young Master!”

Fang Ji ignored the butler, stared fiercely at Fang Chengyu, and asked through gritted teeth, “Fang Chengyu… what a ‘Teacher Chengyu,’ what a ‘Fang Chengyu’! Honestly confess, what kind of scammer are you, are you after me or the Fang family? I’m warning you, no matter what method you used to trick my dad, my mom, my brother, and my sister, don’t you even think…”

A hand forcefully pressed down on his wrist.

Fang Ji glared sideways angrily. “Stay out of this! This is between him and me!”

The Fang family’s butler had worked for the family for over twenty years. How could he not know his own young master’s temperament?

He calmly held down Fang Ji’s hand and said, “Young Master, Mr. Fang specifically instructed me that the Eldest Young Master has a weak heart and cannot be startled. Please let go of him first.”

  1. …Sounds like his family have a lot to answer for for his behaviour. Currently, it just sounds like he’s incredibally lonely and trying to get “family love” from others after partially giving up on getting it from his actual family 🥲
