Chapter 203: Bo Family Daily Life

Since Gu Qing could temporarily leave the medical pod, Bo Jin paid extra attention to the time. He even hung an old-style calendar in the living room, counting down the days one by one, terrified of missing the time to pick him up.

At first, it was one month of hibernation for half a month of staying home. After several times, the hibernation time gradually decreased. Now, it was basically half a month of sleep and half a month of being awake.

Although the hibernation time decreased, strenuous exercise was still prohibited; he could only recover slowly.

But for the active Gu Qing, this was too difficult.

One early morning, Bo Jin woke up groggily and reached out, only to grab empty air. He was jolted awake almost instantly.

“Qing Qing?”

After calling twice with no response, he threw off the quilt and got out of bed, running into the bathroom in a few steps to find him, but still no one.

Bo Jin hurriedly went downstairs, searching the entire house and yard, even under the sofa, but still didn’t see anyone. He panicked.

“A’Yao?”

Bo Jin went to the second floor and knocked on Chi Yao’s bedroom door.

During this period, Flying Dragon had no expedition missions. Jing Xi worked on Capital Star, so Chi Yao naturally came back to visit family.

Basically, whenever Gu Qing was back, the whole family would try their best to return home.

“A’Yao, are you awake?”

No response. Bo Jin knocked a few more times.

A moment later, the door opened in front of him. Chi Yao opened the door with messy hair.

“Do you know what time it is?”

His voice was lower than usual, revealing the impatience of not being fully awake.

Chi Yao had a shirt draped over his shoulders. Through the open collar, red marks on his collarbone could be vaguely seen.

Bo Jin glanced at it but had no mood to tease.

“Is your Dad in your room?”

Early in the morning, Chi Yao was confused by this question.

This question sounded weird no matter how you thought about it, but Chi Yao instantly understood his meaning.

“Dad ran away again?”

Hearing his rhetorical question, the little hope in Bo Jin’s heart was extinguished.

“It’s fine, go back to sleep. I’ll go out and look.”

“How can I sleep now?”

Chi Yao grabbed a jacket, threw it on casually, and followed him downstairs.

Noticing from the corner of his eye that he didn’t close the door, Bo Jin turned back: “Don’t wake Xixi. He had a meeting very late last night.”

Chi Yao grabbed his arm and walked quickly downstairs.

“He got up long ago.”

Meeting until midnight, then rolling around with him for an hour or two, yet getting up for morning exercise at the break of dawn—Chi Yao didn’t know where he got the energy.

Wanting to laze in bed together was almost impossible to achieve. Simply hateful.

The father and son walked out of the courtyard gate. Chi Yao chose a direction casually.

“Old rules.”

Bo Jin nodded faintly: “Thanks for the trouble.”

After speaking, the two ran in separate directions along the road, searching while running.

Those living in the military district were basically high-ranking officers, many of whom were generals like Jing Xi who often led troops on expeditions.

Although there were many houses, the occupancy rate wasn’t high.

At this hour, there was no one on the road.

Bo Jin ran half a circle along this main road before seeing Gu Qing—and Jing Xi—doing warm-up exercises in the training area by the artificial river.

The distance was a bit far. In the past, Bo Jin could clearly hear their conversation, but after using the repair agent, these abilities were gradually degenerating.

Although he couldn’t hear the voices, seeing them talking and laughing, they seemed to be chatting happily.

Seeing the smile on Gu Qing’s face, Bo Jin shook his head helplessly and walked over.

“Not listening to the doctor again?”

Hearing the voice, Gu Qing turned and saw Bo Jin’s stinky face, saying nonchalantly: “Doctor said no strenuous exercise; morning exercise doesn’t count.”

Making a mistake yet so righteous.

Seeing him doing squats, Bo Jin held his arm to stop him: “Then you have to tell me when you come out.”

Gu Qing struggled a bit but didn’t break free, so he just rested on his shoulder to do leg lifts, smiling.

“I told you. Pity you slept too soundly and didn’t hear.”

Bo Jin: “…”

He looked at Jing Xi, who was lifting weights, and asked worriedly: “Xixi, did Qing Qing do any high-intensity exercise this morning?”

Jing Xi looked at Gu Qing, received the other’s eye signal, and said calmly: “No, I followed Dad here all the way.”

The “Dad” came out very smoothly.

Gu Qing looked at Bo Jin: “Heard that?”

Bo Jin: “…”

“I’ll accompany you for morning exercise from now on,” Bo Jin said.

Rather than being scared every day, better to supervise personally.

Unexpectedly, the usually clingy Gu Qing refused.

“No need, Xixi accompanying me is enough. You are still in recovery; sleeping more is beneficial to health.”

Bo Jin: “But—”

Before he finished, Gu Qing had already turned to Jing Xi.

“Xixi, how to do that rehabilitation training you mentioned before?”

Jing Xi: “Come over here, I’ll teach you.”

Watching his wife slip away from his arms, Bo Jin: “…”

Not long after, the terminal rang. It was Chi Yao.

“I’m almost at the end of my run here, didn’t see Dad.”

Bo Jin looked at the “mother-in-law and daughter-in-law” duo exercising happily over there, mood complicated.

“Here with me, found him.”

Chi Yao: “I seem to hear Xixi’s voice.”

Bo Jin: “…He’s here too.”

“Okay, I’m coming over.”

Chi Yao finished and hung up the video call.

Over there, Gu Qing glimpsed Bo Jin’s look and held back laughter.

Jing Xi noticed his expression and asked in a low voice: “Did you quarrel with Father?”

Gu Qing didn’t answer but asked back: “Do you think one can quarrel with someone too lazy to even speak those kinds of words?”

Jing Xi inexplicably thought of himself.

But he wasn’t lazy to speak. With Chi Yao, he had endless things to say.

“Then why do you bully him?” Jing Xi asked.

Gu Qing followed Jing Xi’s movements.

“You are still young, don’t understand the troubles of middle-aged husbands.”

Jing Xi paused: “Why say that?”

Gu Qing looked at the willow trees by the river, the smile on his face fading.

“I lay in the medical pod for twenty years. Ah Jin and I are no longer on the same timeline.”

Although both looked young on the outside, Bo Jin had been active outside all these years, his psychological age nearing fifty, while Gu Qing’s psychological age remained in his twenties.

Jing Xi was puzzled: “So what?”

He could tell Bo Jin’s feelings for Gu Qing were very deep.

Gu Qing smiled: “If you suddenly had to live with Yao Yao twenty years later, how would you feel?”

When he smiled, he looked especially like Chi Yao.

Jing Xi stared blankly for a moment.

But Chi Yao’s smile always revealed calculation, rarely from the heart, whereas Gu Qing’s smile was much gentler, revealing a bit of mischief.

Jing Xi came back to his senses and thought seriously about this question.

Just thinking about sleeping in the same bed with Chi Yao twenty years later gave an indescribably weird feeling, as if it were a different person.

He stopped immediately, not thinking further, suddenly understanding Gu Qing’s meaning.

In Bo Jin’s eyes, Gu Qing was still the original Gu Qing. But in Gu Qing’s eyes, Bo Jin was no longer the Bo Jin of the past.

Twenty years were stolen between them. Gu Qing stayed in place, but Bo Jin had walked far away.

Thinking of this, Jing Xi’s mood was complicated.

“You already—” Don’t like him anymore?

Jing Xi couldn’t ask it, feeling it was a bit cruel.

If it were true, it would be too unfair to Bo Jin.

He couldn’t stop all this and had tried his best, but in the end, his son wasn’t close to him, and his partner didn’t love him anymore.

Seeing Jing Xi’s sad expression, Gu Qing was stunned, then laughed out loud. Just as he was about to explain, seeing Bo Jin hang up the video call and walk over, he put a finger to his lips in a hush gesture.

“Never tell him what I just said.”

Jing Xi: “…”

Father is too pitiful.

Halfway there, inexplicably receiving a pitying look from his daughter-in-law, Bo Jin: “…”

Was his posture getting out of bed wrong today?

Soon, Chi Yao drove the hover car drifting over from mid-air, landing steadily outside the training area.

“So Dad is with you. Made me come out early in the morning to look for people.”

Chi Yao yawned, “So sleepy.”

Jing Xi saw his hair was wet and went over with a towel to wipe his sweat.

“Just right to get up and exercise.”

During the break, Bo Jin also handed a towel to Gu Qing.

“Tired? If tired, go back.”

Gu Qing wiped his sweat: “It’s okay, I can hold on.”

Hesitating for a moment, Bo Jin took his hand.

“Qing Qing—”

“Look over there.”

Gu Qing pointed in Chi Yao and Jing Xi’s direction, chuckling low, “It’s a miracle Yao Yao can maintain his figure being so lazy.”

Forced to interrupt what he wanted to say, Bo Jin didn’t insist, following his words: “He takes after me in this.”

Gu Qing punched him lightly, scolding with a smile: “Narcissist.”

It was only 7:30 when they returned home. Chi Yao and Jing Xi went back to the room to shower.

Thinking of what Gu Qing said earlier, Jing Xi felt a bit low.

“What’s wrong? Not enough exercise yet?”

Chi Yao put his arm around his shoulder, leaned in for a kiss, “I’ll practice with you after you get off work this afternoon.”

Jing Xi: “I’m thinking about Dad’s matter.”

To Gu Qing, the current world was twenty years later. Everything was strange, including the once deeply loved partner.

In his shoes, he couldn’t guarantee he could fully accept everything and continue living as if nothing happened.

Chi Yao frowned: “You mean Dad doesn’t love Father anymore?”

Jing Xi shook his head: “Just my guess.”

“Great.”

Jing Xi was stunned, seeing Chi Yao curling his lips in a malicious smile.

“Just right to kick that scumbag old man and find a young one.”

Jing Xi: “…”

Are you serious?

Seeing Jing Xi’s blank expression, Chi Yao laughed out loud.

“Teasing you.”

Walking out of the bathroom, seeing Jing Xi still unable to let go, Chi Yao took the towel to dry his hair.

“Don’t worry about them. Only they can solve emotional matters themselves.”

Jing Xi gazed at him: “If you reached twenty years later—”

“I would still like you.”

Before Jing Xi finished asking, Chi Yao answered.

Jing Xi’s eyes flashed: “Why?”

Chi Yao bent his finger and knocked lightly on his forehead.

“Still ask why. No matter how many years later, you are just you.”

Usually on workdays, Bo Jin and Jing Xi needed to go to work. Although Chi Yao didn’t need to work, he was often dragged around by Lin Chengde. Basically, no one was home, but they tried their best to come home for every meal.

Returning home from work, Jing Xi pushed open the door and smelled a rich aroma; his stomach growled uncooperatively immediately.

Just about to go to the kitchen, he saw Tie Xiong trembling while carrying a plate out, looking at him with sparkling eyes: “Master, go wash your hands quickly! Grandmaster made braised pork!”

Tie Xiong was almost school age and recovering well. Jing Xi wanted him to enter the military academy’s kindergarten section on Capital Star. Even if he and Chi Yao weren’t around sometimes, the grandparents were here to take care of him conveniently.

Seeing him constantly switching hands as if it were very hot, Jing Xi immediately took the plate.

“Off work?”

Gu Qing came out carrying a soup bowl.

Jing Xi naturally took that over too.

“Thanks for your hard work.”

Not long after, Bo Jin and Chi Yao returned. Smelling the food, they consciously lined up to wash hands, sat down, and started shoveling rice.

Gu Qing put a piece of braised pork into Bo Jin’s bowl.

“Made especially for you. Not tasty?”

Bo Jin: “Not bad.”

Gu Qing smiled: “Before, a whole plate wasn’t enough for you.”

Bo Jin: “…”

Noticing the subtle atmosphere over there, Jing Xi and Chi Yao looked at each other but couldn’t say anything.

At night, after showering, Gu Qing realized he forgot to take a change of clothes. The bathrobe used in the morning was casually thrown to the housekeeping robot.

He wanted to call Bo Jin, but swallowed the words back, wrapped a towel around his waist casually, preparing to go out and get clothes himself.

Just as he opened the door, he saw Bo Jin standing at the doorway.

Bo Jin’s gaze unconsciously followed the water droplets falling from his hair tips all the way down, then forcibly tore away, handing the clothes to him.

“Put on clothes quickly, don’t catch a cold.”

Gu Qing looked down at himself and took the clothes.

“Thanks.”

Bo Jin paused, the hand hanging by his side clenching slightly.

It was almost midnight after finishing official duties. Bo Jin rubbed his brow, feeling somewhat exhausted.

Before, he wouldn’t feel tired even without sleep for days. Now he clearly felt his energy declining.

Returning to the bedroom, Gu Qing was leaning against the headboard reading.

Bo Jin walked to the other side and lay down: “Why not sleep earlier?”

Didn’t you always wait for me to come back to sleep before?

Gu Qing opened his mouth, put the book aside, and smiled: “Accidentally got absorbed in reading.”

Seeing him lie down, Bo Jin reached over to tuck him in, whispering: “You can’t stay up late now. Sleep early.”

Gu Qing watched him lean close, then pull away, half-lowering his eyes to cover the complicated emotions within.

After turning off the lights, the entire space fell into silence.

There was a person’s distance between them. If not for hearing the faint breathing beside him, Gu Qing would have thought he was back in the medical pod.

After an unknown amount of time, he still felt no sleepiness.

“A’Jin.”

A moment later, he heard Bo Jin’s voice, lower than usual.

“Can’t sleep?”

Gu Qing looked at the ceiling, voice very low: “These years—did you meet anyone who moved your heart?”

Bo Jin’s hand gripping the quilt tightened, his open eyes devoid of sleepiness.

“Why ask this suddenly?”

“Not sudden.”

Gu Qing turned sideways with his back to him, “If there is, you must tell me. So I can prepare early—”

“Prepare?”

Bo Jin sat up, turning to look at him: “Prepare for what?”
