by DewdropTLWith the protagonist party fully assembled, only the final stage remained in Chapter Two.
Looking at [Mount Wanshou · Wuzhuang Temple] on the stage list, Liu-ge couldn’t help but sigh with emotion: “Happy times are always fleeting. Chapter Two is already coming to an end, and I’m honestly a little reluctant to open it.”
Many viewers in chat eagerly spammed comments urging him on:
[Hurry up and open it, can’t wait!]
[The boss battle in this stage is ridiculously hard; even on Normal mode it took me several hours.]
[Hang in there, Liu-ge! I’ll tackle Challenge mode after you beat it.]
[Mount Wanshou is an intricate puzzle maze—hurry up and grab pen and paper to draw a map!]
Seeing the reminders in chat, Liu-ge hurriedly fetched pen and paper: “A puzzle maze, got it.”
He mapped the path as he climbed.
The mountain had quite a few patrolling mobs. Since the game featured real-time combat, catching the attention of a mob sent them chasing the player across the mountain, reminiscent of open-world zones in MMOs.
Liu-ge noted, “Wuzhuang Temple Disciples: 50,000 HP, 10,000 Defense, 30,000 Attack. Humanoid mobs. Their skill stabs the target with a sword, stacking a bleed debuff. These disciples are all melee units with high attack and low defense—let’s try pulling a bunch of them together.”
With that, he swapped to Zhu Bajie’s perspective and activated Skill 2, “Flapping Ears.”
On screen, Zhu Bajie’s ears expanded several times into the shape of wings. Vaulting into the air, he soared along the mountain path. Steering the flying Zhu Bajie, Liu-ge deliberately dove into areas densely packed with mobs. Circling through, he drew the aggro of over a dozen disciples before decisively turning back.
A mob of disciples chasing a flying pig…
Liu-ge couldn’t help but roast, “Is this a comedy game or what?!”
Having kited the disciples back to the party, Liu-ge instantly swapped to Friar Sand, hoisting his weapon, the “Demon-Subduing Staff,” to unleash an AOE skill—Friar Sand’s AOE inflicted a slow effect, slowing all the disciples in an area.
Immediately afterward, he switched back to Zhu Bajie, casting Skill 3, “Belly Gongfu,” to force the targets to attack him.
Zhu Bajie’s strength lay in his monstrous defense and massive health pool, but he was sluggish. With Friar Sand’s slow applied, the disciples couldn’t catch up to him right away.
The White Dragon Horse buffed Eldest Senior Brother’s attack speed. Sun Wukong struck decisively, toggling the golden cudgel into its AOE stance; with a single sweep, over a dozen disciples saw their health drop simultaneously.
Sun Wukong’s attack was staggering and his attack speed was blazing fast. Blow after blow landed, numbers scrolling continuously across the screen with critical hits. Once his ultimate came off cooldown, a sweeping strike with the staff left the entire pack on the brink of death.
Liu-ge toggled to Tang Seng, resetting Wukong’s cooldowns, and unleashed another sweeping ultimate—
In barely thirty seconds, all dozen-plus disciples were wiped out clean by Sun Wukong!
With the party’s support, Monkey Bro cleaved through trash mobs like chopping vegetables.
Experience points surged above their heads.
This seamless coordination of pulling, crowd-controlling, and executing mobs instantly leveled up the entire party.
Liu-ge: “Holy crap, playing like this feels incredible!”
The viewers in chat were completely blown away.
[Are we even playing the same game?]
[I’m so trash, I only know how to fight them one by one.]
[This playstyle is 666! Letting Old Zhu fly in to aggro a massive pack and bring them back to slaughter!]
[If Friar Sand misses his CC and Old Zhu gets swarmed to death, it’s an instant party wipe…]
[High risk, high reward!]
This strategy was indeed high-risk, demanding considerable mechanical finesse.
Swapping characters, casting skills, seamless transitions. When an expert juggled characters back and forth like this—mass pulls, AOE crowd control, and AOE burst—it functioned almost identically to a coordinated dungeon squad in an MMO.
With five party members packing numerous abilities, pulling off fluid synergy felt immensely satisfying.
Rubbing his hands together with excitement, Liu-ge said, “Killing mobs this way is ridiculously fast—one wave per minute! I’ve already cleared all the surrounding mobs, so let’s keep climbing!”
Mount Wanshou · Wuzhuang Temple was a massive puzzle array.
When designing it, the level design team had taken Xie Yunfan’s advice, implementing five environmental mechanisms across the East, South, West, North, and Center. To reach Wuzhuang Temple at the peak, players had to solve all five puzzles to dispel the mountain mists and reveal the correct path.
After walking for a stretch, Liu-ge spotted a stone wall ahead engraved with peculiar blue patterns, with uneven grooves etched into the ground before it.
“Chat, how do we open this puzzle?” Liu-ge asked as he searched the vicinity. Before long, he found a gently glowing water valve mechanism by the nearby river.
Liu-ge rotated the camera and ran to the riverbank. This mechanism could be turned clockwise or counterclockwise, allowing players to manipulate the direction of the water flow. As long as the water flooded the trenches on the ground to mirror the exact pattern on the wall, the stone barrier would open.
Liu-ge praised, “Manipulating water flow to solve a puzzle—this design is really fresh!”
Most puzzle mechanisms in games were pressure plates or numerical ciphers; sci-fi titles were almost exclusively digital decoding, which grew tedious over time.
This was his first time seeing a water-routing puzzle. Turning the valve shifted the water’s flow in different directions, and after several attempts, he finally opened the stone barrier.
Liu-ge pressed on.
Using the earlier method, he had Zhu Bajie fly around pulling mobs, Friar Sand handle crowd control, and Monkey Bro deal massive burst damage, clearing over a dozen per wave with the golden cudgel—the experience was pure bliss.
After the party gained another level, he discovered the second puzzle at a crossroads.
This mechanism was red, accompanied by extinguished torches flanking the stone wall.
Liu-ge said, “Do we light these torches in sequence so the flames converge to burn away the seal and open the mechanism?”
He tried lighting them several times and finally cracked the correct sequence. Once the flames melted away the wax sealing the lock, a rumbling sound echoed, and the stone barrier before him opened as expected.
Simultaneously, a brief bird’s-eye view cinematic played.
The overhead map of Mount Wanshou · Wuzhuang Temple was square-shaped, displaying five nodes: East, West, South, North, and Center. The blue and red nodes were illuminated, while the others remained dark.
Liu-ge immediately understood: “There are five puzzles on this mountain; let’s keep hunting.”
Mapping, pathfinding, pulling, and slaying mobs, he was having the time of his life.
Over ten minutes later, he finally reached the third puzzle.
Green vines held a wooden suspension bridge suspended high in the air.
Players had to soar to the high vantage point using mobility arts, then manipulate the vines to lower the bridge carefully, aligning it with the mechanical socket below. If misaligned, the suspension bridge would plummet into the abyss.
Liu-ge flew up and operated the vines with caution, finally lowering the bridge after a few failures.
These puzzle-solving mechanics were quite rare in other games.
The fourth mechanism was brown, surrounded by stone blocks with magic circles on the left and right. The underlying principle was gravitational balance—the stones placed on both sides had to balance equally in weight.
Liu-ge laughed, “Come on, time to do some math! Given that large stones weigh 8 catties, medium stones weigh 5 catties, and small stones weigh 2 catties, how do we balance both sides equally?”
The chat spammed rows of ellipses:
[Playing a video game and having to do math?]
[A gravity balance puzzle—do all the stones need to be placed?]
[It’s just elementary school math.]
[Can someone just tell me the answer directly?]
Liu-ge’s math had hovered perpetually on the edge of a passing grade; pulling out pen and paper, he calculated back and forth, finally working out the solution and placing the stones one by one.
The stone barrier before him opened right on cue.
Liu-ge bragged smugly, “Nice! I’m practically a genius.”
Having cleared four puzzles, he arrived at the center.
This time it was a golden puzzle array flanked by several mirrors. Liu-ge tapped the mirrors; they refracted beams of light that had to be aligned with the orb in the very center.
Liu-ge noted, “A light-refraction puzzle? We need to analyze this properly!”
Adjusting a mirror further down altered the orientation of the previous one; sequence and angle were both critical. One mistake and everything would unravel.
This was the hardest of the five, demanding iterative experimentation with the refraction angles.
The chat buzzed constantly:
[Fun as it is, it’s exhausting on the hands and brain~]
[This puzzle labyrinth is actually really engaging!]
[If the mountain trek is already this intricate, I sense an overpowered boss at Wuzhuang Temple?]
[No need to sense it—I’ve wiped ten times already, here to see how the streamer clears it!]
After repeated attempts, Liu-ge finally cracked the refraction pattern of the bronze mirrors, converging the beams from all four corners into the center.
The orb in the heart of the array began spinning rapidly.
Characters for Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth illuminated across the five puzzle arrays. Five-colored radiant beams shot into the sky as Mount Wanshou shuddered violently like an earthquake.
Moments later, the Five Elements Array activated.
The mountain mists dispersed completely, revealing a flight of stairs ascending straight to the summit.
At the summit, an NPC named “Great Immortal Zhenyuan” instructed two disciples: “In these coming days, an eminent monk on a pilgrimage to the Western Paradise will pass this way. He and I are old acquaintances. Treat him with utmost hospitality and present him with two Ginseng Fruits to eat, but do not alert those disciples of his.”
The two disciples bowed respectfully, and Zhenyuanzi took flight upon the clouds.
The camera shifted: Tang Seng and his disciples arrived at Wuzhuang Temple and knocked on the gates. The two disciples, Qingfeng and Mingyue, ushered them inside and inquired privately of Tang Seng: “Is the Venerable Elder Tang Sanzang, traveling west for scriptures?”
Tang Seng was puzzled: “How did you know?”
The disciples chuckled, “Before our master departed, he bade us entertain you warmly. Please be seated; we shall harvest fruits for you at once!”
Shortly after, the disciples brought out two Ginseng Fruits for Tang Seng to eat.
Laying eyes upon the fruits, Tang Seng turned pale—they looked just like two human infants?!
[Holy crap, these fruits are kind of terrifying!]
[They look like babies, that’s a bit hardcore.]
[Is this game a comedy or a horror title?]
[Pigs can fly, so baby-shaped fruits aren’t even that surprising…]
Tang Seng hurriedly refused: “How could innocent infants be seized for consumption?! Unacceptable, absolutely unacceptable!”
Mingyue explained, “This is called Ginseng Fruit; it grows from a tree. Consuming it extends one’s lifespan by tens of thousands of years. The Elder need not hesitate.”
Tang Seng protested, “Nonsense! How could a tree grow human beings?”
The two disciples exchanged glances; seeing that he refused, they took the fruits away.
The scene shifted: Qingfeng and Mingyue carried the fruits back to their quarters. Feeling it would be wasteful not to eat them, they consumed them themselves. As luck would have it, Zhu Bajie was foraging for food next door and overheard their conversation.
Naturally gluttonous, Zhu Bajie’s eyes lit up at the mention of “Ginseng Fruit,” and he ran to find Sun Wukong immediately. Sun Wukong had never tasted such a thing either, so after huddling together, the disciples decided to sneak into the rear courtyard to steal some fruit.
[System: Objective updated — [Catch the Ginseng Fruits]]
This was a quirky minigame: the Ginseng Fruits falling from the tree sprouted legs and could run around. Watching these fruits scurry in all directions, players were left speechless.
[A tree can actually grow something like this?]
[Bouncing, scurrying little fruits—honestly pretty adorable.]
[You can actually eat this? How is this different from cannibalism?]
[Seriously questioning the mental state of the developers…]
The game’s premise had always been whimsical and quirky, and players readily embraced it.
Liu-ge began the minigame, chasing Ginseng Fruits all over the place.
These legged Ginseng Fruits were surprisingly tricky to catch, burrowing underground at every turn. After scouring the grounds and exhausting himself, Liu-ge managed to catch only three.
Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Friar Sand split them up and ate them.
[System: Consumed Ginseng Fruit. Sun Wukong’s Attack +10,000, Zhu Bajie’s Defense +10,000, Friar Sand’s Mana +10,000.]
Eating the Ginseng Fruits granted stat boosts across all three disciples.
Clearly, the boss battle was imminent.
Focusing his attention, Liu-ge said, “The three brothers stole Ginseng Fruits—they’re about to be busted, right?”
Right on cue, Qingfeng and Mingyue sensed something amiss. Inspecting the courtyard, they found several fruits missing from the tree.
Who stole them?!
Tang Seng’s party were the only outsiders in Wuzhuang Temple. The two rushed to confront Tang Seng. Sun Wukong and Friar Sand denied everything vehemently, while Tang Seng urged them to confess if they had indeed taken them.
Zhu Bajie let the secret slip by accident.
Enraged, the two disciples unleashed a torrent of vile insults, barking “thieves” with every breath.
Infuriated by their cursing, Sun Wukong plucked a hair to create a duplicate to take the scolding, while his true body slipped out. Vaulting into the sky, he swung his golden cudgel, toppling the Ginseng Fruit Tree in a few strikes, shattering its roots and causing the tree to wither away instantly.
Liu-ge: “…Damn, Monkey Bro really caused a catastrophe this time!”
[The Great Sage is so unruly!]
[This tree seems precious—doesn’t it take ten thousand years to bear fruit?]
[The cutscene said eating Ginseng Fruit extends life by tens of thousands of years.]
[Now they’re done for…]
Returning to the rear courtyard and finding the immortal tree felled, the two disciples panicked. Feigning forgiveness, they acted covertly, locking up Tang Seng and all four pilgrims to await their master’s return.
This master they spoke of sounded terrifyingly powerful.
Sensing danger, Sun Wukong led the party to flee under the cover of night.
The background music abruptly turned tense.
The midnight Wuzhuang Temple transformed into a nighttime maze crawling with patrolling Wuzhuang Temple Disciples; players had to evade their patrols, as getting spotted meant instant failure.
The disciples had a 180-degree field of vision, meaning players could only avoid detection by staying behind them. Sun Wukong’s “Seventy-Two Transformations” was disabled in this stage, preventing him from morphing into a bird to fly away.
Liu-ge said nervously, “An evasion stage where getting spotted by even a single patrolling disciple fails the run—this is way harder than stealing peaches in the orchard! The Seven Fairies had fixed patrol paths, but here there are dozens of disciples scattered everywhere, making them tough to dodge.”
Liu-ge: “Let’s adapt as we go and take it slow!”
The patrolling disciples moved quickly, pausing at intersections for barely two seconds; players had to slip behind them when their backs were turned.
The reaction window was razor-thin. One careless moment and a turning disciple caught you, failing Sun Wukong’s escape plan and sending you back to the maze entrance.
This stage bottlenecked many players with slower reflexes.
Fortunately, Liu-ge had fast hands and sharp awareness; dodging disciples and sprinting during openings, he escaped the nocturnal temple after only three failed attempts.
Between the thrilling soundtrack, the pitch-black setting, and the dense patrols, the level delivered an intensely immersive survival rush.
Even Liu-ge, a veteran gamer, exhaled a massive sigh of relief upon escaping, his heart racing.
At daybreak, Great Immortal Zhenyuan, having concluded his gathering in the Heavenly Realm, returned to Wuzhuang Temple. Learning that the Ginseng Fruit Tree had been destroyed, he flew into a towering rage and soared off to apprehend the pilgrims.
Having just escaped, the players were captured and dragged right back.
The boss battle of Wuzhuang Temple officially commenced!
As the Patriarch of Earth Immortals, even the gods of Heaven treated Zhenyuanzi with immense deference, and he was invited to confer with the Buddha and Guanyin; he was truly a powerhouse.
His single-target critical hit dealt 100,000 damage in one blow—apart from Zhu Bajie, anyone else was instantly one-shot. His ultimate summoned endless flying swords in a wide-area strike dealing astronomical damage.
Worse, he brought his two disciples, Qingfeng and Mingyue, into the fray. Wielding horsetail whisks, the two child-like disciples specialized in crowd control and healing respectively: Mingyue controlled, while Qingfeng healed.
Liu-ge fought for a bit.
In Round 1, Mingyue cast an AOE Confusion. Zhu Bajie unleashed “Rake Reverse Strike,” flattening Master on the spot, while Monkey Bro spun around and cudgeled Junior Brother Sha to death.
The battlefield descended into absolute pandemonium.
[AOE Confusion is terrifying!]
[The protagonist party turned to fratricide?!]
[Tang Seng: This team is impossible to lead!]
Liu-ge was speechless: “This AOE Confusion is infuriating. We need Friar Sand to lock him down with CC before he gets the cast off!”
In Round 2, Friar Sand successfully CC’d Mingyue in time. However, the party’s health was on the lower side; Zhenyuanzi cast his Illusion Sword ultimate, raining blades from the heavens like a torrential storm, wiping the entire team out in an instant!
Liu-ge gasped, “The AOE damage is this absurd?! Looks like Tang Seng has to keep the disciples healed, maintaining HP above 70%.”
In Round 3, having managed to keep up with cleanses and heals on Tang Seng, Liu-ge chipped away at them, only for Qingfeng to wave his whisk—a streak of green light flashed, restoring all three bosses to full health.
Liu-ge was growing agitated: “How the hell are we supposed to beat this?!”
[Hahaha, it really is brutal.]
[It’s the final stage of Chapter Two, after all; of course it needs some difficulty!]
[Do we kill Qingfeng or Mingyue first? We can’t just burn the main boss directly, right?]
[I think we should take out the healer first!]
Taking a deep breath, Liu-ge regained his composure: “Chat wasn’t lying—this stage is seriously tough. The boss deals monstrous damage and comes with two supports: Mingyue on CC and Qingfeng on heals.”
“Mingyue’s CC includes AOE Confusion and AOE Root. Only Tang Seng is immune to Confusion, so we have to swap to Tang Seng immediately to cleanse.”
“Qingfeng’s heal has a two-second cast bar for team-wide healing; the second he begins casting, immediately swap to Friar Sand to interrupt with Sandification.”
“Great Immortal Zhenyuan is immune to all crowd control. We must have Bajie tank his 100,000 single-target critical strikes; as for the AOE, we have to soak it while Tang Seng constantly tops everyone off…”
“Tang Seng: I’m swamped!”
“Swapping characters constantly makes the mechanical difficulty insane.”
“Let’s try taking down Qingfeng first.”
The strategy Liu-ge formulated based on the boss mechanics sounded solid in theory. But when the battle actually started, the difficulty proved brutal with zero room for error!
If Tang Seng was a split second late with a cleanse, party wipe. If Friar Sand failed to interrupt the heal, Qingfeng topped everyone off and all progress was reset. If Zhu Bajie lost boss aggro, the boss one-shot Monkey Bro instantly.
The player had to swap characters endlessly to taunt, CC, cleanse, and heal, while finding windows to steer Sun Wukong to attack…
Damn it, even having four hands wouldn’t be enough!
By the end of the attempt, Liu-ge was drenched in sweat, his heart hammering against his ribs.
His eyes locked onto the screen, unleashing the highest hand speed of his life to switch characters, dazzling the audience.
With immense effort, he finally brought down Mingyue, only for Qingfeng to suddenly utter: “We entered the sect together; how could I bear to let you die alone?”
Followed by a Soul Recall spell, resurrecting Mingyue back to full health.
Liu-ge: “Fuuuuuuck!”
Sadistic devs, are you trying to make players smash their phones?!
[I told you to kill the healer first.]
[Qingfeng not only heals, but resurrects too?]
[In combat you always focus the healer—Liu-ge miscalculated, restart, restart!]
Liu-ge took a gulp of his drink to calm his nerves and started over.
This time, he committed to killing the healer first. Qingfeng had higher defense than Mingyue, but fortunately, swapping to Friar Sand to interrupt during his cast bar prevented the heal from going off.
Sun Wukong pursued Qingfeng and battered him relentlessly for ten minutes, finally taking down the healer.
Mingyue suddenly proclaimed, “We entered the sect together; how could I bear to let you die alone?”
With a Soul Recall spell, Qingfeng revived on the spot.
Liu-ge froze in disbelief: “What the hell?!”
Liu-ge: “Is this damn thing bugged?!”
Kill Mingyue, and Qingfeng resurrects him. Kill Qingfeng, and Mingyue resurrects him.
How is anyone supposed to play this?
They couldn’t possibly burn Great Immortal Zhenyuan directly, could they? Zhenyuan had massive attack and defense—he was even harder to kill!
Liu-ge fell silent.
After a moment, he pondered aloud, “A bug? A Yangfan Studio game is thoroughly tested before release; such a massive bug shouldn’t exist. Could there be a trick to it?”
Liu-ge: “We can’t seriously have to focus Great Immortal Zhenyuan directly, right?”
Right as he was puzzling over it, several hints surfaced in chat:
[Look at their lines—saying ‘cannot die alone’, do they have to die together?]
[I just beat Normal mode; you have to kill both at the same time.]
[Whittle them both to low health and have Wukong drop an AOE ultimate—they must die simultaneously, even a second apart won’t work.]
Realization dawned upon Liu-ge: “Holy crap, they have to be killed together?!”
Who could have guessed that?
Facing a multi-boss encounter, players naturally burst one down to reduce team pressure. Nobody expected Qingfeng and Mingyue had to perish simultaneously, or else they’d endlessly revive each other.
Knowing the mechanic, Liu-ge restarted the fight.
Killing both simultaneously was even harder; bouncing between targets made inputs frantic and prone to errors. If Wukong spammed AOE from start to finish, his damage was too low, making the clear agonizingly slow.
He devised a plan: have Zhu Bajie tank the main boss, use Sun Wukong’s single-target bursts to chip Mingyue down to critical health, have Friar Sand CC Qingfeng to stop heals, then swap Wukong to focus Qingfeng.
Once their health bars were evenly matched, Sun Wukong would switch to AOE stance.
One massive ultimate to send them both to the afterlife together!
After two attempts, Liu-ge finally pulled it off.
Qingfeng and Mingyue collapsed at the exact same moment.
Finally, no more endless resurrections.
With both disciples dead, Zhenyuanzi immediately entered an “Enraged” state: Attack increased by 50%, Defense decreased by 50%. Bajie had to soak the boss’s single-target abilities cleanly; otherwise, taking a 150,000-damage strike would obliterate anyone else.
Great Immortal Zhenyuan’s abilities—both single-target and AOE—dealt catastrophic damage. Tang Seng had to be swapped in continuously to top off health; taking it slow was vastly preferable to risking DPS at dangerous health thresholds.
Otherwise, an AOE party wipe meant restarting from square one!
…
Two hours later, Liu-ge finally cleared this boss battle.
He felt like throwing open the window and screaming at the top of his lungs.
This was the thrill of blind progression, wasn’t it? Testing iteratively until pinpointing the optimal strategy. Exhausting enough to cough up blood, yet profoundly rewarding.
The battle had been fiercely tense and exhilarating; his fingers ached from inputs, and his voice was practically hoarse from yelling. Taking a sip of water to soothe his throat, Liu-ge cautioned, “Chat, maybe don’t touch Challenge mode—it’s way too intense!”
What followed was even wilder.
Zhenyuanzi tied the pilgrims to trees to whip them. In the dead of night, Sun Wukong came up with an idea: transforming four trees into the likenesses of the four pilgrims to endure the whipping while they slipped away covertly.
It was another nocturnal escape minigame, dripping with atmosphere.
With prior escape experience, this getaway went relatively smoothly. However, at daybreak, Zhenyuanzi tracked them down once more.
Casting an incantation, Zhenyuanzi whipped the disguised trees, causing the pilgrims in the distance to feel the agony, paralyzing them.
Captured yet again, Zhenyuanzi furiously resolved to cast them all into a cauldron of boiling oil.
Watching this unfold, players couldn’t help but grow anxious:
[They can’t escape!]
[This Great Immortal Zhenyuan is relentless—what do they do?]
[Monkey Bro destroyed his Ginseng Fruit Tree; this is bad!]
This immortal tree was one of a kind in the entire world; severed at the spiritual root by Sun Wukong, it had withered to death—a truly thorny predicament.
Struck by inspiration, Sun Wukong said, “Release my master first! I shall seek help to bring your tree back to life!”
Zhenyuanzi sneered, “If you truly possess the ability to resurrect the immortal tree, I shall swear an oath of brotherhood with you and present you with fruits to feast upon. But if you lack the means, every last one of you shall leave your lives behind at Wuzhuang Temple!”
Comforting his master with a few words, Sun Wukong dashed off to the Heavenly Realm to seek aid.
[The Great Sage’s network is vast.]
[The Three Star Gods of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity? These three old immortals are pretty cute.]
[They can’t handle it…]
[The Great Sage went to find Guanyin again.]
[Guanyin Bodhisattva is basically an in-game GM—she can resolve anything!]
Sun Wukong sought out the Three Star Gods of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity, but they were powerless, forcing him to turn to Guanyin.
Guanyin scolded him, “That Zhenyuanzi is the Patriarch of Earth Immortals; even I yield to him three points! His immortal tree is born of the primordial root, unique under the heavens—how could you destroy his tree?!”
Scratching his head innocently, Sun Wukong said, “His disciples spat ‘thieves’ with every breath, cursing so foully that Old Sun lost his temper and felled the tree…”
Resigned, Guanyin took her willow twig and pure jade vase to Wuzhuang Temple.
The final minigame required the player to use Guanyin’s willow twig to revive the withered tree, watering its spiritual root.
This minigame was simple; once completed, the immortal tree truly revived.
Lush and leafy, over twenty baby-shaped Ginseng Fruits hung from the boughs.
Delighted that the tree was restored to life, Zhenyuanzi picked several fruits and hosted a lavish feast for the pilgrims. Witnessing this with his own eyes, Tang Seng finally believed that these fruits grew from a tree and reluctantly ate one.
Sun Wukong and his fellow disciples each consumed one as well.
[System: Consumed Ginseng Fruit. Tang Seng’s HP +10,000; Sun Wukong’s Attack +10,000, Zhu Bajie’s Defense +10,000, Friar Sand’s Mana +10,000.]
[System: Party leveled up to 30.]
[Chapter Two: End]
The familiar ending theme began to play, and Yangfan Studio’s logo appeared right in the center of the screen.
Gazing at the little sailboat floating upon the vast ocean, Liu-ge’s feelings were mixed.
Earlier, wiping repeatedly during the boss fight had made him testy, but upon finally clearing it, a deep sense of reluctance washed over him: “Sigh, it’s over already!”
“When is the next chapter coming?”
“Binge-watching a show inside a game while playing through it simultaneously—this experience is unbeatable, seriously addictive.”
“Chat, I want to know what happens to the pilgrimage party next, and I want to keep tackling all kinds of fun bosses—what about you guys?”
The chat flooded with ‘+1’s.
After anticipating it for half a month, Chapter Two was already over. Now, everyone had to wait for Chapter Three… Yangfan Studio was truly something else—making a video game and turning it into a serialized show?
People wished they could kidnap the chief producer, drag him home, and force him to finish the entire game in one sitting!
