He Is Constantly Jealous Of Himself

JOH CH75: The Wedding

Su Yiran woke up in the car. He rubbed his eyes and was surprised to find himself in a different environment: “Are we here already?” He quickly looked out the car window.

Gu Yuanting gently brushed the stray hairs from his forehead: “Just arrived a little while ago.”

The car drove along the island’s coastline. Su Yiran saw that it was pitch dark outside and he couldn’t see anything, only vaguely hearing the sound of waves washing against the distant shore.

It was too late today, so they could only play tomorrow.

Soon, the car arrived at Gu Yuanting’s villa on the island. The ancient, castle-like villa was already brightly lit inside and out, awaiting its owners’ arrival. The butler had already prepared everything and was waiting to greet them outside.

This island was a private island owned by Gu Yuanting. There was only one building on the island, built near the coast. A long wooden pier curved out from its side, with small lights planted along both sides, glowing white as they wound their way to the sea.

“Like stars,” Su Yiran said, smiling at Ting-ge. He thought it was beautiful.

Gu Yuanting looked at Ranran’s smiling eyes and thought Ranran was like stars.

The butler instructed the servants to take their luggage. Gu Yuanting held Ranran’s hand and entered the villa. The butler led them, introducing each room and its furnishings.

Normally, no one lived on the island, only servants regularly came to clean. Only when the owners returned did the island come alive.

This was also Gu Yuanting’s first time on this island. He had searched for a long time, comparing many options repeatedly, and finally chose this place, thinking Ranran would like it.

Although they rested relatively well on the plane, including the car ride, they had already spent over ten hours traveling. Gu Yuanting was concerned about Ranran’s travel fatigue and the need to adjust to the time difference, so he suggested they rest early. After settling in on the first day, they would wake up and play tomorrow.

“Shall we go to the coastal town tomorrow? The Mandola was filmed there, you might like it,” Gu Yuanting asked, feeling nervous as he thought about his plan, afraid Ranran wouldn’t agree.

Su Yiran knew it was a famous tourist town. One-third of his favorite old movie, The Mandola, was filmed there. He also planned to buy some things in the town, so he agreed.

Gu Yuanting was too excited to sleep that night. He held Ranran, secretly thrilled beyond belief, but reminded himself that tomorrow was important and he needed to conserve his energy, forcing himself to sleep.

However, before falling asleep, he secretly slipped off the diamond ring Ranran wore on his left ring finger and threw the old ring into the bedside table drawer.

The next day, Su Yiran woke up early, only to find that Ting-ge had woken up even earlier and looked full of energy. From the moment he woke up, Ting-ge’s eyes had been shining as he looked at him.

Su Yiran, seeing Ting-ge like this, couldn’t help but feel a tickle in his heart. He smiled, reached out, and cupped Ting-ge’s face: “What are you doing, looking at me like that?”

He couldn’t resist the urge to kiss Ting-ge’s lips, then kissed him several more times.

Gu Yuanting’s eyes grew brighter. He hugged Ranran and kissed him several times, forcibly masking his excitement: “Nothing, I just like looking at Ranran.”

Su Yiran felt soft and gooey because of Ting-ge. He intimately rubbed his forehead against Ting-ge’s forehead, then kissed Ting-ge again, confessing softly: “I like looking at you too.”

The two intimately lingered for a while, then began to get ready to leave.

Gu Yuanting wore a black trench coat with a formal suit collar and a black sweater underneath. He actually wanted to dress more formally, but since they were out for fun, it should be more casual. To avoid Ranran noticing anything amiss, he had to settle for this.

Gu Yuanting then put the off-white sweater he had personally knitted on Ranran, and over it, the black trench coat that matched his own. He touched Ranran’s face, kissed him, and felt a profound fondness no matter how he looked at him.

Su Yiran looked at Ting-ge today, feeling a little flushed and his heart pounding. Ting-ge was overly handsome today, almost unfairly so.

When they arrived at the island last night, apart from the lights inside and outside the villa, everywhere else was pitch dark, and nothing could be seen. Today, in broad daylight, Su Yiran finally saw the scenery of the island.

The sea, as blue as the sky, the fine white sand, the lush green island, a landscape as beautiful as a painting. Seeing it in person, it was even more beautiful than the photos Gu Yuanting had shown him.

Su Yiran stood on the yacht, looking at the surrounding blue sea and sky, green island and white sand. He also saw a flock of migratory birds flying across the sky, and couldn’t help but smile at Gu Yuanting: “It’s so beautiful here.”

Gu Yuanting looked down and gently asked him, “Do you like this island?”

Su Yiran leaned on the railing, gazing into the distance. The vast blue sea met the sky: “I like it.”

Gu Yuanting nodded. As long as Ranran likes it.

The yacht slowly departed, breaking through the clear blue water, sailing away from the island. The coastal town they were going to today was not far from the island, only a little over an hour away by yacht. There were also many things to do on the yacht, so time passed quickly.

Soon, they arrived at the town. It was a charming coastal town with pointed roofs, towers, and various colorful houses, full of exotic character. The Mandola, the movie Su Yiran loved, was filmed here.

It was currently the off-season for tourism, so there weren’t many tourists. The pace of life for the town residents was slow, and the atmosphere was very peaceful, perfect for spending quality time.

Su Yiran and Ting-ge walked hand in hand, leisurely strolling through the town, Browse around, stopping frequently, tasting the town’s special delicacies, visiting several filming locations, and buying some souvenirs.

Slowly but surely, most of the day passed quickly.

In the afternoon, the two explored the last filming location, a group of seaside reefs on the edge of the town.

Black reefs, white sand, clear blue water. This place was far from the town center and rarely visited. After taking photos, the two simply walked hand in hand along the beach, enjoying the scenery along the way.

As they walked, unknowingly, they stumbled upon a small white-spired church ahead. The small church had an ancient exterior, sitting isolated on the coast behind a large reef, looking quite old.

Gu Yuanting secretly nervously touched the wedding ring box in his pants pocket. His heart was pounding rapidly, but his face maintained a normal expression. He looked at Su Yiran and casually mentioned: “Shall we go inside and take a look?”

Su Yiran nodded and walked into the small church with Gu Yuanting. He had expected the isolated, old church to be empty, but to his surprise, there were several tourists inside, some sitting on benches, others strolling around the church.

The church in this world was different from those in his original world. It belonged to the Western culture of this world, with similar concepts but many differences in doctrinal details.

There was also an old, white-haired pastor in the church, dozing behind a half-height ancient pulpit. Gu Yuanting held Ranran’s hand, walked through the rows of benches on both sides, step by step towards the pastor, as if sacred and solemn music was playing in his ears.

Su Yiran thought Ting-ge was going to look around the back and didn’t think much of it. As they passed the pastor, Gu Yuanting accidentally bumped the pulpit, startling the pastor awake. He looked up at them.

“Sorry,” Su Yiran smiled, apologizing to the pastor on behalf of Ting-ge.

The old pastor looked very old, appearing to have some difficulty with movement. He slowly adjusted his reading glasses, squinted his eyes, and carefully examined them, then saw their clasped hands, and asked them, “Are you… the newlyweds who came to get married today?”

“Ah?” Su Yiran was startled. Seeing that the pastor had misunderstood them, he quickly waved his hand, somewhat exasperated, “No.”

However, the old pastor, perhaps due to his age, couldn’t hear what he was saying at all. He looked at the two again, muttered some vague words, then stubbornly came to a conclusion, grumbling, “It’s you two. Don’t dawdle, quickly stand ready for the vows.”

Saying that, he even pointed to the front of the pulpit, urging them.

Su Yiran looked at Ting-ge in a daze, unsure of the situation.

Gu Yuanting, seeing Ranran looking at him, felt a pang of nervousness. He gently stroked Ranran’s head reassuringly, remaining silent for the moment, awaiting what would happen next.

Just then, perhaps noticing the commotion, a foreign woman nearby walked over and looked at the old pastor: “Mr. Smith?” She seemed to be a local resident and apparently knew the old pastor.

The old pastor ignored the woman, stubbornly tapped the table, and urged Su Yiran and the other person: “Hurry, hurry.”

The woman apologized to Su Yiran with a smile: “I’m sorry, Mr. Smith is old, and his mind here… isn’t very clear,” she pointed to her temple and twirled her finger, implying he was confused, “so he always has this peculiar habit of pulling tourists who come here and making them take wedding vows.”

So that’s what it was. Su Yiran understood and smiled: “It’s okay.” He didn’t mind this and was about to pull Ting-ge away when Gu Yuanting suddenly shook the hand he was holding.

Gu Yuanting forced himself to remain calm as he looked at Ranran, his palms faintly sweating: “How about we just take our vows here?” He looked around the church, “The environment here is very nice.”

The environment was indeed very nice. The church was beautiful, and due to its age, it exuded an antique feel everywhere, showing a sense of permanence. Outside the church was the clear blue sea and white sand beach.

Su Yiran followed Ting-ge’s gaze and looked around the church as well. He was also tempted and quickly agreed.

Although the two of them were already an old married couple for several years, doing something like this felt a bit embarrassing. However, re-taking their vows in this setting would offer a different kind of romantic charm.

Gu Yuanting, seeing Ranran agree, couldn’t help but have his chest heave with excitement. He wrote down their names for the pastor. The old pastor, adjusting his reading glasses, mumbled and struggled to make out the names in the light for a long time.

Finally, as if he had finally distinguished them, the old pastor opened the holy book in his hand, cleared his throat: “Now, we begin the wedding ceremony. Please, both newlyweds, take your positions.”

Perhaps because he was back in his element, as soon as he began officiating the wedding, the old pastor’s voice was no longer indistinct; every word was spoken clearly.

Gu Yuanting held Su Yiran’s hand and stood side by side with him in front of the pastor’s pulpit, listening to the wedding vows.

The foreign woman, noticing the commotion and seeing a wedding was taking place, also sat down on a bench behind them to watch the ceremony.

“Groom Gu Yuanting,” the old pastor mispronounced the Chinese name with a distinctly peculiar accent, “do you take Su Yiran to be your beloved, to share your life with him forever?”

The few tourists in the church noticed the commotion and, seeing a wedding taking place, also sat down on the benches below the platform, quietly watching the ceremony.

Gu Yuanting took a deep breath, looking at Ranran beside him, his heart surging with emotion and excitement. His voice trembled as he spoke: “I do.”

Su Yiran had initially thought this was just a spur-of-the-moment romantic gesture, but when he saw Ting-ge’s emotional reaction and heard Ting-ge’s “I do” again, he was involuntarily deeply touched.

The old pastor’s voice continued: “From this day forward, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, in good times and in bad, will you choose to be with him for life, to love him, cherish him… until the end of your days?”

Gu Yuanting looked deeply at Su Yiran, and solemnly made his lifelong promise: “I do, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, in good times and in bad, I will be with him for life, love him, cherish him, care for him, respect him, accompany him, and be faithful to him, until the end of my days.”

Su Yiran’s heart was utterly struck, melting completely. He saw Ting-ge’s eyes, fixated on him, like dark lacquer, like stars, like the ocean, encompassing such deep emotion, as if entrusting his everything to him.

“Groom Su Yiran, do you take Gu Yuanting to be your beloved, to share your life with him forever?”

Gu Yuanting completely forgot to breathe. His mind was blank; he couldn’t move or think, only look at Su Yiran, holding his breath and waiting for his answer, his heart almost leaping out of his throat.

“I do,” Su Yiran said.

He said “I do!” Gu Yuanting’s breathing quickened, his heart trembled, his eyes welled up, almost overflowing with tears. Ranran said he would marry him!

“From this day forward, in sickness or in health… until the end of your days?”

Su Yiran looked at Gu Yuanting and said earnestly, “I do, in sickness or in health, in poverty or in wealth… I will be with him for life, love him, cherish him… until the end of my days.”

Su Yiran’s voice echoed and swirled within the small church. Gu Yuanting’s heart vibrated intensely. He even felt a solemn echo, repeating itself over and over, burrowing into his heart. He was so excited he didn’t know what to do, his chest heaving violently, a profound emotion welling up within him, making him want to cry.

The old pastor continued: “Now, please exchange the wedding rings that symbolize your love!”

Rings? Su Yiran was startled. He instinctively looked at his left ring finger, then paused again. Where was the wedding ring he always wore?

Did he take it off when washing his hands and leave it on the sink? A thought flashed through Su Yiran’s mind, but he couldn’t quite recall. Before he could ponder it further, he saw Gu Yuanting pull a small box from his pocket and open it.

Inside the box were two diamond rings, shimmering with brilliant light, radiating beauty.

But they definitely weren’t their wedding rings.

Su Yiran looked at Gu Yuanting with confusion. Where did these diamond rings come from?

Gu Yuanting had already taken Su Yiran’s left hand and carefully placed the diamond ring on his ring finger. As he put the wedding ring on his finger, a wave of excitement and emotion surged through him again.

He couldn’t help but lean down and kiss his finger, his expression filled with reverence.

Gu Yuanting knew Ranran would be suspicious because of the ring, but he had prepared an explanation. He placed the box on the pulpit in front of the pastor and handed the other diamond ring to Su Yiran, looking at Ranran expectantly.

Su Yiran took the diamond ring, putting his questions aside for now to ask later. He took Gu Yuanting’s hand and earnestly placed the diamond ring on Ting-ge’s ring finger.

Gu Yuanting silently watched Ranran put the wedding ring on him, his eyes unblinking. Ranran had put the wedding ring on him. Now, he was Ranran’s, and Ranran was his.

Gu Yuanting’s nose stung, and the urge to cry surged again.

“The two grooms have exchanged vows and accepted rings. Now, you may…”

Before the pastor could announce that they could kiss each other, Gu Yuanting suddenly embraced Su Yiran and kissed him fiercely.

Su Yiran felt one or two warm drops of water fall on his face, turning cold half a second later. What was that?

Before he could ponder further, he was captured by Gu Yuanting’s passion and love, completely lost in his kiss. He responded to him, his heart filled entirely with him.

“…Therefore, I declare that Gu Yuanting and Su Yiran, you are now united as partners, and from this day forward, you shall be together for life, never apart.”

The audience below, with goodwill, applauded and offered them sincere blessings.

After the kiss, Gu Yuanting released Su Yiran. Su Yiran, thinking of a moment ago, felt a bit shy. It wasn’t even a real wedding, they were an old married couple already, yet it was just as passionate as their original wedding—no, even more passionate than that.

Su Yiran noticed Ting-ge’s eyes were red. Remembering the water drops on his face just now, he reached out and touched Ting-ge’s face: “Did you cry?” Did Ting-ge secretly cry?

Gu Yuanting’s voice was hoarse, tinged with a choke: “No.”
