Chapter 25: Zhou Sicheng’s Day as Customer Service

    “Hubby, I’m off tomorrow.”

After quickly replying to his husband, Xiang Zhen shoved his phone back into his pocket and bent over to help Yu Yueyue pack up her desk.

After blatantly slacking off and reading web novels for three straight days, Yu Yueyue finally became the very first employee fired after Feng Chujun took office.

Her desk was crammed full of anime figurines—every single piece of plastic allegedly costing a fortune. While others might leave with a single cardboard box when resigning, she had brought over a dozen bubble-wrapped storage bins from home and even hailed a Lalamove cargo van to haul away the expensive ergonomic chair she had bought herself.

Lowering her voice, Yu Yueyue patted the mesh seat of the chair. “Zhenzhen, are you sure you don’t want this chair? It’s got wheels, it’s super comfortable on the butt, and the mesh is breathable and bouncy. It’s especially perfect for someone who does gay stuff.”

Xiang Zhen had learned that Yu Yueyue reading BL novels was a type of “doing gay stuff.” However, after Zhou Sicheng read that novel with him, he forbade Xiang Zhen from reading them anymore, claiming it would rot his brain.

“Thank you, but my hubby said no, I’m not allowed to do that stuff.”

Yu Yueyue took a moment to process this. “Tell me again what exactly you see in him.”

From Xiang Zhen’s completely unchanged tone when mentioning his husband, she sorrowfully realized that Xiang Zhen hadn’t gotten a new husband at all. He still just had that same husband who, after being mocked for sending a 52-yuan red packet, angrily maxed out a credit card just to show off.

Well, it’s probably better if he’s impotent anyway, so soft little Xiang Zhen doesn’t get ruined.

Xiang Zhen felt a bit reluctant to part with Yu Yueyue. Was this what the internet called the “first-generation coworker”—the workplace white moonlight?

Whenever Feng Chujun came around to patrol, it was entirely thanks to Yu Yueyue arguing with him that he was driven away.

Yu Yueyue didn’t care about being fired. Jobs were hard to find right now, and she and Liu Xiaofang had submitted plenty of resumes that were left on read. With her gone, Xiang Zhen and Xiaofang would be a bit safer. Besides, her family was well-off; if she didn’t have a job, she could just be a full-time daughter.

Xiang Zhen: “Can we still be colleagues in the future?”

Yu Yueyue: “Life is long. Once I find a new job and become a senior employee there, I’ll recruit you.”

Suddenly, inspiration struck Xiang Zhen. He opened his contacts, found Fan Hao, and asked how many people the bank’s customer service department was hiring, and whether his colleagues could submit resumes too.

Fan Hao asked: “How many people do you have on your end?”

His main objective was to recruit Xiang Zhen. As long as Xiang Zhen’s attached conditions weren’t outrageous, he would agree to them.

    Xiang Zhen: “Two other colleagues.”

Fan Hao: “Then just send me their resumes.”

    Xiang Zhen: “Thank you!”

Zhou Sicheng’s friend was such a true friend. How had his husband managed to make such great friends?

Xiang Zhen immediately messaged Zhou Sicheng: “Hubby, let’s treat Fan Hao to dinner.”

Zhou Sicheng: “Then tomorrow night. Is there a restaurant you like?”

Xiang Zhen: “I like the food you cook.”

Zhou Sicheng: “…” Invite Fan Hao all the way to this cramped, shabby rental apartment just to laugh at him? Would docking his entire annual salary be enough?

Xiang Zhen calculated carefully: “We can’t just treat Fan Hao to a bowl of noodles, we have to at least have some seafood. But eating out is too expensive; buying it and cooking it at home is much cheaper.”

For the very first time, Zhou Sicheng felt a subtle sense of agreement with his grandfather’s favorite saying: Your wealth multiplies by the second; do not waste time on trivial matters.

“Our place is too small to accommodate a third person for dinner.”

Xiang Zhen: “You forgot! The Room 1620 gym you rented is huge! We can cook the food and bring it over there to eat!”

So now I have to be a food runner too.

Zhou Sicheng flatly refused: “Make him treat us. We’re not spending money.”

Xiang Zhen: “Wouldn’t that be rude?”

Zhou Sicheng: “He owes it to me. He fell in the water once, and I saved his life.”

So they went through life and death together!

Xiang Zhen scratched his cheek. Alright, he’d listen to his husband. His cheapskate husband could decide how to interact with his friends.

Xiang Zhen forwarded Fan Hao’s internal bank recruitment message to his three-person colleague group chat: “Give me your resumes, I’ll submit them for you.”

[Liu Xiaofang: Zhenzhen, Zhoufu Bank hasn’t done external hiring for ages. Be careful, this guy might be a scammer!]

[Xiang Zhen: He’s not, he’s my husband’s friend.]

[Yu Yueyue: That makes it sound even more worrying…]

[Xiang Zhen: Really, really! I saw him come out of Zhoufu Bank.]

[Yu Yueyue: Probably went there to beg for a loan.]

[Liu Xiaofang: Don’t just turn to any doctor when you’re desperate.]

[Yu Yueyue: Send it! Let’s see who’s trying to scam you.]

Xiang Zhen quickly received two resumes. Taking a brief look, he was shocked to discover that both Liu Xiaofang and Yu Yueyue had bachelor’s degrees in accounting! They even had previous accounting internship experience, and their resumes were beautifully formatted.

Xiang Zhen looked at his own blank resume. It only had one short line:

[Intern Customer Service Rep at a certain nut company. Tenure: Approaching 30 days.]

    “…”

[Xiang Zhen: Hubby, how do I edit my resume?]

Since Zhou Sicheng had found a good job after being unemployed, he must be an expert at editing resumes.

Staring at his wife’s resume on the computer, Zhou Sicheng fell into deep thought. Even the cleverest housewife can’t cook without rice. Could he just copy and paste a section of his own? They were going to be exchanging DNA tonight anyway.

[Zhou Sicheng: @Xiao Kui, help beautify my wife’s resume.]

[Xiao Kui: Understood, beautifying now… Image generated.]

Xiang Zhen happily downloaded the resume PDF, only to discover that Xiao Kui Bao had merely beautified his photo—photoshopping his blonde hair black and changing the background from white to blue.

As for his actual work experience, not a single word had been touched.

Xiao Kui, how could you be like this?

[Zhou Sicheng: @Xiao Kui, useless trash.]

[Xiao Kui: I’m sorry! I will re-beautify the resume. @Xiang Zhen, do you have any awards from your student days? Like a ‘Three Good Student’ certificate from Children’s Day?]

[Xiang Zhen: No, I only went to school for one year.]

[Xiao Kui: @Xiang Zhen Then do you have any unique skills, like playing tennis, swimming, painting…]

    [Xiang Zhen: No ╥﹏╥]

Xiao Kui Bao really was useless. Unable to bear seeing his wife disappointed, Zhou Sicheng personally took charge and revised Xiang Zhen’s resume himself.

[Zhou Sicheng: I’ve fixed it. Just submit it like this.]

Xiang Zhen opened it and saw that Zhou Sicheng had added two lines of text:

    [Sunflower Cultivation Expert.]

    [Emergency Contact: Zhou Sicheng 13*****8989.]

Xiang Zhen bit his lip. Oh, so resumes even required an emergency contact!

Regardless, his resume looked a bit fuller now.

Filled with anticipation, Xiang Zhen sent all three resumes to Fan Hao.

[Fan Hao: Come in for an interview tomorrow morning! Address: Room 1809, Zhoufu Bank.]

Xiang Zhen forwarded the message to his husband: “Interview tomorrow!”

His husband didn’t reply instantly, but Fan Hao did.

[Fan Hao: Apologies! I’m suddenly unavailable tomorrow, a meeting was just added! We’ll reschedule!]

[Xiang Zhen: No problem, we haven’t fully quit our current jobs yet anyway.]

Xiang Zhen got off work at five o’clock, earlier than usual. However, since the customer service team was now short one person, he had to act as backup customer service that evening. This meant that if the messages piled up too fast for the on-duty rep to handle, Xiang Zhen would cover the overflow remotely from home.

He helped Yu Yueyue load all her boxes into the Lalamove van. The moment the van drove away, Zhou Sicheng’s BYD seamlessly slid into the empty parking spot.

“Hubby, why didn’t you get out and say hi to my colleague just now?” Xiang Zhen opened the car door.

If Yu Yueyue saw how handsome his husband was, she would believe they were truly in love and just wanted to live a good life together.

Zhou Sicheng pulled out a tissue and wiped the sweat from Xiang Zhen’s forehead: “I’m afraid of the heat.”

Xiang Zhen had noticed that Zhou Sicheng was incredibly averse to the sun. Perhaps because Zhou Sicheng himself was an incarnation of the Sun God, and two sun kings couldn’t meet.

The sunflower had found yet another piece of evidence proving his husband was the Sun God.

Zhou Sicheng fastened the seatbelt for his wife, who was smiling foolishly at who-knows-what: “I got paid. Let’s go to a restaurant for dinner tonight.”

Xiang Zhen: “You got paid this early? I haven’t received my salary yet.”

Zhou Sicheng: “Big corporations are like this, they have humanistic care. Once you join the bank, you’ll also get paid for the current month at the beginning of the month.”

Xiang Zhen: “Our company withholds a month’s pay! Damn capitalists!”

Zhou Sicheng fabricated an excuse: “How about we go eat eel porridge? Eel has to be eaten freshly killed and boiled, it can’t be taken home.”

He didn’t want to cook tonight; cooking fumes would ruin the atmosphere. Plus, since Xiang Zhen wouldn’t let him turn on the AC, he needed to save his sweating for the crucial moment.

    Xiang Zhen: “Okay.”

It was good for hubby to take a break from cooking.

Zhou Sicheng took Xiang Zhen to a porridge restaurant he found acceptable. The eel was flown in fresh, and the menu on the table considerately lacked any listed prices.

Xiang Zhen: “Hubby, how much does one eel cost?”

    Zhou Sicheng: “88 for two.”

Xiang Zhen: “Then we can eat it!”

The eel porridge arrived, complete with small abalone and shredded seaweed, fragrant and smooth.

Zhou Sicheng: “Is it good? If it is, I’ll order it for takeout for you often.”

Xiang Zhen said seriously: “One cheat meal is enough.”

Zhou Sicheng: “I also need a cheat meal tonight.”

Xiang Zhen: “You work out so hard, hubby, you can have a cheat meal two or three times a week!”

    Zhou Sicheng: “Deal.”

When they were almost finished eating, Zhou Sicheng checked the weather forecast on his phone. There would be a thunderstorm in two hours.

The timing, the location, the people—everything was perfectly aligned.

“Let’s go. If it rains later, there will be traffic.”

Xiang Zhen and Zhou Sicheng walked hand in hand to the parking lot: “By the way, hubby, do you have a laptop?”

Zhou Sicheng: “There’s one in the car.”

Xiang Zhen: “Let me borrow it! Have you downloaded Sunlogin?”

Sunlogin was a remote control software. Once logged in, he could control his company computer from home to handle customer service issues.

Walking up to the car and opening the door, Zhou Sicheng lowered his head and kissed him: “No. Download it yourself.”

Xiang Zhen grabbed the laptop from the backseat, rested it on his knees, downloaded the software, and logged into his account.

When they got home, he carried the laptop upstairs.

After taking a shower, Zhou Sicheng came out to find Xiang Zhen still sitting in front of the laptop. Looking at it periodically, he narrowed his eyes in disbelief: “You’re working?”

A job paying three thousand a month actually required overtime at night.

Xiang Zhen: “Mn. Brother Youzhi’s livestream has huge traffic tonight, a lot of people are asking questions.”

Zhou Sicheng: “Aren’t you on your day off?”

Xiang Zhen: “I’m the backup customer service.”

Zhou Sicheng closed his eyes. He didn’t know what “backup” meant, but he knew exactly what was “backing up” in his own pants.

He moved the laptop to the nightstand. “It’s not like there isn’t a rep on duty. You don’t have to be this responsible.”

“This is the capitalist exploiting extended working hours to maximally extract your surplus labor value.” Zhou Sicheng turned Xiang Zhen’s face toward him, face-to-face, and seriously began a lecture. “Working unpaid overtime means you’ve fallen into the capitalist’s trap.”

“What you’re saying makes a lot of sense, wuu…” Xiang Zhen’s eyes suddenly misted over. Who lectures someone on labor theory while suddenly grabbing their butt?!

This was the first time Zhou Sicheng had ever grabbed his butt.

It felt completely different from having his face, back, or stomach touched. Zhou Sicheng’s hands had previously been strictly confined to his upper body, and Xiang Zhen had never known that being touched near his thighs would tickle so much!

“Refuse overtime. We proletarians need to have a sex life.” Zhou Sicheng pulled out the condoms and lubricant he had saved from the nightstand drawer. Twisting the cap open with his right hand, he poured a little into his palm.

When Xiang Zhen read the novel, he hadn’t self-inserted because he was a Yao, different from humans. Xiang Zhen firmly believed that aside from also being afraid of pain, his other reactions wouldn’t be as exaggerated.

The novel said the S was huge, that it hurt intensely upon entry, and that it took three tries, only going in a little bit each time. Xiang Zhen hadn’t taken it seriously.

But now, pinned to the bed by Zhou Sicheng, Xiang Zhen was finally terrified—because Zhou Sicheng’s thing down there was even bigger.

He seemed to have completely transformed into a human!

“Smell this, it’s peach-scented. The Mengyin yellow peaches from Shandong are coming into season in a few days, I’ll buy you a box of authentic ones.” As Zhou Sicheng spoke to distract Xiang Zhen, he slipped a long, lubricant-coated finger into Xiang Zhen’s cleft.

At this point, Zhou Sicheng hadn’t even taken off Xiang Zhen’s clothes. He was just holding him in his arms, his palm reaching down past his lower back, as if it were just an ordinary post-dinner cuddle.

Xiang Zhen: “Mn… I don’t want to use lube.”

Thinking he was finding an excuse to escape for another day, Zhou Sicheng kissed his forehead: “Hmm? It’s fine, it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

In a moment of desperation, Xiang Zhen blurted: “I’ll be allergic!”

Seeing that he was serious, Zhou Sicheng withdrew his hand and used a warm towel to wipe the cleft clean. Fortunately, he hadn’t entered yet.

It seemed Xiang Zhen really strongly resisted lubricant. This was going to be a real test of his technique.

With the hot towel wiping against his inner thighs, Xiang Zhen practically started smoking. Stop wiping, stop wiping! He felt this action was incredibly shameful, as if he were a little kid.

Feeling utterly unprepared, Xiang Zhen squeezed his legs together tightly. “Hubby, the soundproofing here is too bad. Let’s wait until we buy a house.”

This time, Zhou Sicheng reached to take off his clothes: “Don’t worry, a heavy thunderstorm is about to hit.”

    Xiang Zhen: “…”

Realizing there was nowhere to run, Xiang Zhen bit his lip, whimpered, and threw his arms around his husband’s neck. He whispered softly in his ear, “Hubby, then go a little harder.”

You had to press hard to extract sunflower seed oil.

Zhou Sicheng’s breath hitched. Having his gorgeous wife gaze at him affectionately and softly ask him to go harder… all his weightlifting hadn’t been in vain.

Xiang Zhen squeezed his eyes shut tight, but the moment Zhou Sicheng’s finger entered, he tensed up again.

    Ding-dong, ding-dong!

    Customer service notifications chimed!

To Xiang Zhen, it sounded like the choir of angels: “Hubby, I need to reply to messages first.”

    Zhou Sicheng: “Not allowed.”

Xiang Zhen: “This is my career! You can’t interfere!”

Zhou Sicheng stared at him intently, then smirked: “I’ll reply to them.”

At a time like this, his wife shouldn’t even think about looking at anything other than him.
