Xie Jianwei’s body recovered remarkably fast.

Even though he had been sent flying by a car, fallen unconscious for three days and three nights, and realistically should have been paralyzed for life even if he survived, Xie Jianwei shattered every medical boundary, recuperating at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The attending physician was thoroughly stunned throughout, deeply questioning his own worth as a doctor. Aside from dropping by daily to marvel, “Recovering well, exceptionally well, extraordinarily well!” he served virtually no other purpose.

Xie Jianwei hadn’t done anything special either. Presumably, the entire “will of God” was showering him with favor: hit so hard, yet feeling zero pain, eating with hearty appetite, and after resting for a week, an itch began to stir.

His heart itched, and a certain other place itched as well.

Over these past few days, Lu Li had been downright adorable in Xie Jianwei’s eyes!

Like an oversized wolfhound wagging its tail, he fussed around him with wholehearted devotion. Having dropped the tsundere act, the deep, overflowing affection in those dark eyes was sweet enough to choke on.

His chest brimming with warmth, Xie Jianwei didn’t mind granting him a few perks at all.

And so, with kisses and embraces, the two scratched that itch right there in the hospital room.

Afterward, Xie Jianwei felt he had overindulged in pleasure, his mind swimming in a daze, unable to recover his bearings for a long while.

Yet this state frightened Lu Li half to death. “A-Wei?”

Xie Jianwei didn’t make a sound.

Lu Li scooped him into his arms, cautiously touching the wound on his waist that had already faded into a faint trace, furrowing his brows. “Did I hurt you?”

Pressed by his hand, Xie Jianwei let out a muffled groan. “It doesn’t hurt.”

Hearing him speak, Lu Li relaxed, though adding, “We shouldn’t do it anymore. Once you’re fully healed…”

Burying his face against his arm, Xie Jianwei mumbled incoherently, “It really doesn’t hurt, it’s just…”

Lu Li didn’t catch it. “Hm?”

Xie Jianwei said, “…It felt too good.”

    Lu Li: “…”

Not only was Xie Jianwei’s chest burning hot, but his face was on fire as well.

Lu Li gently cupped his face, turning it toward him. Catching sight of those flushed cheeks and glistening eyes, his brain felt zapped by an electric jolt, and then… well… he ravished him until tears flowed.

Xie Jianwei stayed in the hospital for half a month. During these two weeks, Lu Li spared no effort in helping him “recover his memories.”

Unfortunately, every single bit of this memory was completely warped.

Xie Jianwei asked him, “How did we meet and fall in love?”

Naturally, Lu Li wouldn’t admit he had merely been his casual bedmate and personal pleasure tool. He fabricated on the spot: “I fell in love with you at first sight. I pursued you for three whole months before you agreed to be with me.”

Xie Jianwei laughed, “Pursued me for that long?”

Lu Li flicked his nose tip. “You didn’t like men at first.”

Xie Jianwei’s eyes widened. “I didn’t like men?”

A subtle glint flickered deep in Lu Li’s dark eyes. “You like men?”

How sharp was Xie Jianwei? Without missing a beat, he said smoothly, “I don’t know, but I like you.”

A tender smile spread across Lu Li’s eyes.

Pecking his lips, Xie Jianwei said, “Whether you’re a man or a woman, I only like you.”

Those words warmed Lu Li’s heart to the point of fluttering panic, though he spoke with pure teasing: “If I were a woman, there’d be no one around to scratch your itch down there.”

Xie Jianwei could never resist him smiling like that—truly, devastatingly handsome. And so, exchanging kisses soon devolved into reckless fooling around once more.

Later, Xie Jianwei asked many more questions about himself.

Lu Li’s answers were four parts truth and six parts fiction: “Both of your parents passed away, and you were raised by your grandmother. But before the accident, you told me Grandma Xie was recuperating abroad, so you won’t be able to see her for the time being.”

Xie Jianwei asked again, “Then what did I do for a living?”

Lu Li smiled, “You were remarkably capable, inheriting the Xie Corporation and building it into one of the country’s foremost conglomerates.”

Xie Jianwei knitted his brows, playing along, “Yet I don’t remember a thing…” His voice took on a touch of unease: “With such a massive enterprise, how am I supposed to manage it?”

Gently caressing his back, Lu Li said with calm reassurance, “Don’t worry. Aren’t I right here?”

Xie Jianwei’s eyes lit up, looking at him with absolute trust. “A-Li, you must help me. I’ve forgotten everything; how could I possibly run the Xie Corporation?”

A faint flicker crossed the depths of Lu Li’s gaze, but he went along with it: “Rest assured, I will help you.”

Afterward, Xie Jianwei signed numerous documents.

Perhaps Lu Li was testing him, for he didn’t even bother masking the contents. Had Xie Jianwei retained even a shred of his memories, seeing these documents would have provoked explosive fury.

It was practically handing the entire Xie Corporation over on a silver platter, transferring his fortune of tens of billions straight to Lu Li.

Never mind their previously fraught relationship; even if they were genuinely a deeply devoted couple, the real Xie Jianwei with his memories intact would never have done such a thing.

Yet now, Xie Jianwei placed unconditional trust in Lu Li, signing without a heartbeat of hesitation.

Lu Li stared fixatedly at the hand gripping the fountain pen, conflicting, turbulent emotions warring in his chest.

On one hand, he felt relieved: stripped of the Xie Corporation, even if Xie Jianwei recovered his memories, he could never leave his side.

On the other hand, he felt even more terrified: having committed such deeds, once Xie Jianwei remembered everything, he would surely hate him to death.

Never mind love; Xie Jianwei would want nothing more than to kill him.

No matter how justified under the name of love, what he had done crossed all boundaries.

Yet there was no turning back. These brief two weeks of Xie Jianwei’s amnesia had painted an impossibly radiant dream for Lu Li.

Xie Jianwei loved him. To think being loved by him was such breathtaking bliss.

Even before truly experiencing it, he had been unable to let go; now that he had tasted such sweet fruit, he couldn’t bear to imagine what losing it would feel like.

He wanted Xie Jianwei; he had to have him, by whatever means necessary.

Xie Jianwei, on his end, never betrayed the slightest flaw. What did the Xie Corporation amount to? He would gladly hand him the entire Milky Way.

Upon discharge, the staff who came to pick up Xie Jianwei had been entirely replaced.

Those claiming to be his assistants and chauffeurs were all Lu Li’s trusted subordinates.

Not wanting him to regain his memories, Lu Li naturally wouldn’t permit him contact with anyone from his past.

Since they were strangers to begin with, the “amnesiac” Xie Jianwei looked upon them with utter unfamiliarity; such unfamiliarity, to a degree, disoriented his memory, ensuring that even if Xie Jianwei might have recalled something, he remained completely blank.

Lu Li brought Xie Jianwei to their new seaside home.

Lu Li said, “Can you recall anything? You designed this house yourself.”

Xie Jianwei exclaimed in pleasant surprise, “I designed it?”

Lu Li smiled, “Yes. A home designed for the two of us.”

Suspecting nothing, Xie Jianwei beamed with sweet fondness. “It seems I truly loved you deeply.”

Lu Li gave no explicit confirmation.

Wrapping his arms around him, Xie Jianwei sighed softly, “I loved you deeply before, and I love you even more now.”

Smiling gently, Lu Li pressed a tender kiss against the tip of his ear. “I love you too.”

Lu Li was consciously and unconsciously altering Xie Jianwei’s memories.

The house was indeed designed by Xie Jianwei, but the two had never lived in it for even a single day.

Yet Lu Li had remodeled the residence, making it appear comfortably lived-in, scattering traces of intimate interaction between two sweet lovers everywhere.

Their clothes mingled together in the wardrobe, matching couple’s toothbrushes rested in the bathroom, a cozy pair of pillows sat atop the plush king-sized bed, and various intimate toys filled the nightstand drawers.

Pulling out a vibrating egg, Xie Jianwei laughed, “We’ve even used this?”

Lu Li said, “Mm. You placed it inside yourself to seduce me.”

His face heating up, Xie Jianwei set it back down, “Nonsense.”

Lu Li countered, “Why not try it and see? Perhaps your body still remembers…”

Xie Jianwei scolded with a laugh, “Get out of here!”

Lu Li had truly poured his heart into this home.

Observing it all, Xie Jianwei felt an overwhelming ache of fondness for him.

They clearly possessed none of these domestic memories together, yet Lu Li had forged this entire reality out of sheer imagination.

Xie Jianwei hadn’t lost his memory at all, yet taking in each detail, he almost wondered if he had truly suffered amnesia and forgotten a period of living together with Lu Li.

It went to show just how much effort Classmate Old Lu had exerted, fabricating an illusion so authentic that even Military Advisor Xie questioned his own sanity.

Lu Li was diligently isolating Xie Jianwei from the outside world.

During the half-month in the hospital, Xie Jianwei had seen nobody aside from the attending physician.

After being discharged, for over an entire month, Xie Jianwei had not stepped beyond their front door.

Lu Li moved the majority of his workload home, leaving only in the afternoons while Xie Jianwei took his daily nap.

The moment Lu Li stepped outside, countless surveillance cameras spanning every room activated simultaneously, tracking Xie Jianwei’s every movement.

Xie Jianwei estimated that Lu Li had hired at least a hundred operatives to guard him.

He was essentially keeping him under house arrest.

Having finally settled into the pampered life of an idle freeloader, Xie Jianwei was rather gratified.

Still, he had to drop occasional hints for Lu Li to patch up the narrative loopholes.

For instance, picking up the remote control, Xie Jianwei remarked, “Are there any popular dramas airing lately?”

Raising an eyebrow, Lu Li calmly took the remote and flipped the channel for him. “You always loved watching this variety show before.”

Xie Jianwei watched with keen interest, laughing out loud from time to time.

By the very next day, the television had been custom-modified: all current affairs and news broadcasts had vanished entirely, leaving only popular dramas and variety shows, all pre-screened to be free of advertisements and filled purely with lighthearted fluff.

Exactly as it should be, Xie Jianwei mused. What if I accidentally flipped on the news one day and saw reports on the Xie family’s internal turbulence, or how CEO Xie has vanished without a trace while supposedly recuperating?

After all, Xie Jianwei was a public figure of note.

Taking the cue and extrapolating further, Big Li gave the computer special treatment as well; essentially, whatever Xie Jianwei accessed was locked behind a hyper-sanitized green shield.

Xie Jianwei put painstaking thought into helping him build this gilded cage. Truly, such a sensible and cooperative “canary” was rare to behold.

Drifting along leisurely like this for two months, just when Xie Jianwei felt everything was in order and he could comfortably lounge in his cage, someone who had no business being here dropped from the sky.

Literally dropped from the sky. Xie Jianwei genuinely could not fathom how this junior assistant had managed to bypass the security of hundreds of guards to breach this airtight courtyard!

It was practically identical to Little Swallow from that historical drama airing yesterday; heaven only knew how she had snuck into the imperial hunting grounds!

Channeling her inner drama queen, the assistant burst into wailing sobs the second she laid eyes on Xie Jianwei: “President Xie! I’ve come to save you! Hurry and come with me, before that ungrateful beast—”

Xie-the-Canary-Jianwei refused to play by the rules: “Hello, 110? There’s an intruder in my house!”

The junior assistant froze in utter bewilderment: “…”
